Just read cox to reading for £600000
What is going on here?

{Ed034's Note - cox is available. no surprise here for me

1.) 05 Aug 2014
Maybe making way for another striker coming in?

2.) 05 Aug 2014
Let him go and use the money and wages to get someone who can score! Not really worked for cox at forest good luck to him

Another one under valued.

{Ed034's Note - under valued by who?

4.) 05 Aug 2014
He's surely worth more to us than that. Thought he has looked quite sharp pre season.

{Ed034's Note - how much?

5.) 05 Aug 2014
The knock on effect from the Newcastle deal will be every player leaving will be perceived to be on the cheap. £600k, for a striker who can't offer goals, sounds good to me.

{Ed034's Note - exactly cjay. I rate cox highly (yeah, yeah) and think he can do a good job for us. if it wasn't for yesterday nobody would have anything against this

6.) 05 Aug 2014
No surprise to me. SP said last night if he thinks a player would not get in a team in the top 6 he would move them on. Henderson gone and Cox will follow, as SP reiterated the big issue is our strikers and that's where we will see movement this week.

7.) 05 Aug 2014
I should have put lol sorry

8.) 05 Aug 2014
Regardless of other events I still think that is cheap. We will struggle to get a player of his ilk for that miney. He brings more than just goals. Unless it's another bit of cash towards a new striker.

9.) 05 Aug 2014
We will be seriously short of Strikers if he goes a as well! :- (

{Ed034's Note - it will give Pearce the freedom to bring in two more

10.) 05 Aug 2014
This could be positive because Stuart Pearce would not have agreed to this unless a player or players were coming in.

11.) 05 Aug 2014
He doesn't even bring in goals. What's his tally? 14 goals in two seasons? Even the midfield are outscoring him and the easy chances he missed last season were well into double figures.

12.) 05 Aug 2014
All this turbulance and change so near start of season is BAD planning will come back to bite us big time. how patient will fawaz be with pearceys team shorn of our stars from last year when we are mid table in Jan?
maybe the owner will reflect then that we should have at least kept Lansbury. Poor planning leads to poor morale leads to poor results.

{Ed034's Note - please do not swear on posts or they'll just get binned

13.) 05 Aug 2014
Why the fuss? He doesn't score enough goals and is easily replaced with Pato and Osbourne.
Did people miss Pearces stating that bids were in place for a striker and a midfielder.
Lachelles we are covered for and the same for Cox.
Darlow still on loan, Butland in as well
Let's not get to caught up the negativity
It's still been a good window so far, with more to come.
A business still needs an income, selling players happens

14.) 05 Aug 2014
Although I think the proposed fee is slightly low I wouldn't mind him going if it means we sign a new no. 9 striker to go with fryatt, lars and a rejuvenated dex

15.) 05 Aug 2014
With all the players who have came in, why are people panicking that players like Cox are leaving.

16.) 05 Aug 2014
I think 600k is good business for cox. He's not what we need upfront. Lars and Matty are head and shoulders above him in the pecking order and Pearce had stated he wants to bring new players in further up the pitch with letting others leave. Can't see why any fan would have a problem with this one tbh.

17.) 05 Aug 2014
Hi t. end 70, who says pearce knows about it? I think cox I is a very good player, works hard for the team and is under estimated. He can not be blamed for lack of goals. Played with out any service.

18.) 05 Aug 2014
On a slightly happier note with Cox, at least we will always have Birmingham. Just watched that goal again, I still don't feel I have ever seen a better goal in a Forest shirt. If it had been Bergkamp or Messi it would have been shown around the world. Shame he couldn't keep it up. I think he has potential and still like him as a player but he hasn't scored often enough and the money is not unrealistic. Perhaps a good deal for all involved.

19.) 05 Aug 2014
I agree with Tricky.

The £600k touted is a fair reflection on what he has produced over the past couple of seasons.

He's a squad player, he does a job but not entirely the job he was bought for.

He's a misfiring striker who can play out wide.

We have width, we need a striker. Take the £600k and say thanks for the Birmingham memory to Simon Cox.

20.) 05 Aug 2014
TBF Cox had plenty of chances to score way more than he did over the last two seasons.

Good worker, but strikers get paid to score and if they dont, then what's the point in keeping them?

21.) 05 Aug 2014
Cox does work his socks off to be fair to him. But he just doesn't score goals! £600k for him is a good price, plus he must be one of the highest earners

22.) 05 Aug 2014
Dex is finished as a Forest player (why did we give him a new 4 year deal?) so if Cox follows Derbyshire, Henderson, Miller, Tudgay then we only have Fryatt and Lars left up front! Either gets injured or fails to do a job we will be forced to play one up front as per BD. Its alright Ed saying we are after two more strikers (where did this come from?) but there are only 4 days left to first game. Traditionally we start poorly so really won't help not having full squad for start of season surely?
