Stuart Pearce confirms that Darlow and Lascelles were sold against his advice. #nffc 'I thought we could have pushed for a higher figure'. - from paul taylor. o dear

1.) 04 Aug 2014
I hope not, don't want SP walking already. If we are so desperate to sell, could there be a problem with the sponsorship?

2.) 04 Aug 2014
I honestly believe if we had a CEO in place as a mediator between manager and owner this deal would not have happened.

We are paying the price for not putting one in place and I hope one is appointed soon so it doesn't further damage the club, financially and in terms of players, by allowing Fawaz to sanction deals. I understand he owns the club and they he pays the players, but we have seen several times now that he says he won't interfere and he still uses his power to go against his word and have an influence above the manager.

Be interesting to hear what Pearce says on Matchtalk now!

3.) 04 Aug 2014
If this is true (and I would need to hear it from SP) that worries me!
SP is supposed to be in charge and before the seasons even started- he's been undermined?
Not good if true as unrest soon spreads!
The truth is in there somewhere but doubt we will ever know for sure.
For a club pushing for promotion and would need theses players should we get up- will only be facing them next season?
FFP?- who knows- sponsor money- who knows?
At the end of the day- we ( the back bone of the club) would like to know the true intentions?

4.) 04 Aug 2014
When Stuart Pearce talked about sensational offers I thought he was talking from a forest perspective not the buyers. We have been well and truly rinsed. And that not being negative it's just seeing it how it is. JL I can stomach as he's third choice with a full squad but combined it should be more and we all know it.

5.) 04 Aug 2014
This does not sound good. Deal for both payers done without SP knowing, so much for not interfering! Now all the focus is back on Fawaz and the way he works. Hope this doesn't end up with SP walking, he won't put up with it. Not a good thing to happen just before season starts.

6.) 04 Aug 2014
Just read the article and you don't exactly have to read between the lines to see he's well unhappy about it, as the manager not getting the final say says it all. He won't last long now. How much did burnley bid for Lansbury? Maybe they should Lower it and we will prob accept. Not happy.

7.) 04 Aug 2014
Sounds like sp was prepared to part with the players, it was just for what price.
I think we need to see what amount of money Fawaz parts with for new players before judging him.

{Ed034's Note - agree. Fawaz should have made sp aware it was being accepted before letting Newcastle know

8.) 04 Aug 2014
Bad business all round.
1. If you have serious money you wouldn't sell your quality young assets regardless of price.
2. Evidence of the owner sanctioning deals against the wish and advice of the manager.
3. Forget the loan back their heads won't be in it.
4. There wages will suppress the other squad members and will undoubtedly upset the apple cart.
5. You've clearly upset the manager at a key stage of the season, 5 days before it's due to start.
6. Remember The manager picks the team. the manager signs the players. the manager only sells who he wants to sell.

I apologise unhappy red today, sincerely hope we turn it into a positive!

I'm sorry but bad move Fawaz, there must be a good reason and I can only think it's for MONEY as FFP as we all know can be got around.

COYR 3 points on Saturday

9.) 04 Aug 2014
Could mean trouble ahead, a bit strange to see this action from Fawaz. But it's his club and his money, so in his right to do so!
But I don't understand why.

10.) 04 Aug 2014
Sorry I feel I don't entirely trust the owner now if this is true
this does seem like interfering in the face of it

11.) 04 Aug 2014
Fawaz said he will not interfere in on field, and team selection, and general management of the club, but will have the last word in the buying and selling of players, its his right.

{Ed034's Note - he should have had the courtesy to tell Pearce

12.) 04 Aug 2014
How long will we hold on to sp if this is true. need things sorting out behind the scenes before we even think we are going to get promotion.

13.) 04 Aug 2014
Yep sp does not sound too happy about the sale of Darlow and lascelles, he says sold against my will

14.) 04 Aug 2014
Can we really trust fawaz then?
isn't this interferring??

15.) 04 Aug 2014
Just the news to start the season with. All the good work down the pan. We should wear black on Saturday not red. Fair enough if we need to sell. But to upset a manager who hasn't managed a competitive game yet is just poor.

16.) 04 Aug 2014
Not sure in the point of taking up 2 loan places for players we already had. As I understand we can only have a limited number and that restricts us in regards to other positions still lacking. To appease everyone, including SP there better be some good news big permanent sigings in the offing.

{Ed034's Note - we would need to replace them, so isn't it better to bring in two players that will not need time to settle in??

17.) 04 Aug 2014
Fawaz needs a big signing now to turn this one around, trying my upmost best to see the positives let's hope he pulls something out the bag. Hopefully by the end if the week it will turn. , I hope

18.) 04 Aug 2014
This is bad business and bad business practice. Selling your two best prospects on what amounts to a 'buy one get one free' basis (assuming the quoted figures are correct) is short-term, fast buck thinking of a kind that's entirely at odds with the noises Al Hasawi makes in the press - and the manager finding out from the player that he's off for a medical this afternoon? That's low by any club's standards. Sorry, folks, but this man is not to be trusted.

{Ed034's Note - will people stop writing buy one get one free please

19.) 04 Aug 2014
Ed, you got any plans tonight?

{Ed034's Note - to get an even larger headache than I already have

20.) 04 Aug 2014
Wow, seems an awful long time ago that we were ruminating upon a possible 500 million sponsorship deal! Felt Stuarts integrity shone through, perhaps something Fawaz could learn from. Once again we are faced with more questions than answers.

21.) 04 Aug 2014
Wouldn't be surprised if SP walks, undermined already been in the job for a month. £7m not near enough. I don't think all is well behind the scenes at NFFC time will tell I guess. These two signings that are in the pipeline better be of a great standard or their is going to be some serious upset supporters.
But life go's on look at the pluses not the negatives we are going to bank £7m, have the two players on loan for the season and probably pay them less than there getting now. If SP can invest at least £5m into the team that's got to be seen as positive hasn't it.

{Ed034's Note - has said he hadn't thought it and wont

22.) 04 Aug 2014
04 Aug 2014 19:21:02
Mentioned in interview that the same reporter that broke this story last night is saying that Landbury off to Burnley
SP said offer was not enough and he has spoken to Henry . I can live with the others but Landsbury would be a blow
We need something positive and soon SP said a bid was going in tonight for a striker and pos another bid by Saturday
Come on forest let's pick the mood up

23.) 04 Aug 2014
The deal doesn't bother me. Good money for unproven players at that level. Everyone has "potential", it's a what point you cash in. More worrying is that Stuart appears unhappy about it.

24.) 04 Aug 2014
Reading all these posts tonight it has become obvious to me that even though mr Pearce is a legend at this club it won't be very long before some FANS (?) are on his back calling for him to leave and this is before the season has even started. Amazing!

25.) 04 Aug 2014
We have always said 'in fawaz we trust' I still do. It must make sense for the club.

I don't think any of us are suprised they have gone - there has been a lot of interest.

We have to accept the numbers add up for the club - which has invested heavily - and move on. Pearce may say no to any deal BUT fawaz has the bigger picture.

COYR!!

26.) 04 Aug 2014
In my opinion Fawaz has made a big mistake in undermining SP stewardship. I'm not saying we should not have sold the players if it's for the good of the club. But it should have been SP decision. I know the club is owned by Fawaz but I think today he has lost a little respect of many Reds fans. Forever Forest whatever happens. COYR

27.) 04 Aug 2014
Anyway else not thinking this from a different angle and not jumping the gun and getting angry. pearce said sold against his advice not behind his back not never told just he thought they could get more money. if money isn't an issue and a plan in place to get around ffp it doesn't matter if we got couple million less. Would u prefer 10mil and lose them now. or 7 and keep for season. the latter would be my choice. let's just hold tight see what happens before slating nffc or fawaz

28.) 04 Aug 2014
Look I know what's happened should not have happened and certainly not for the price, but look at it this way, lascelles will be missed but would he have been first choice behind mancienne and Hobbs? Same with darlow will be missed but both back on loan for a season ain't a bad deal. Will look a bit daft if we go up but unfortunately that's football. Just think its not all doom and gloom coyr

29.) 04 Aug 2014
I imagine there will be add ons such as appearance, international caps, and sell on clause too. So both could rise anyway depending how we do. And we get another year out of them where we probably don't need to pay a loan fee, and possibly no wages too. So maybe not too bad a deal.

30.) 04 Aug 2014
The mood of the club has changed within the space of a day. What started off as excitement has now lead to talks about SP walkingand whether we can trust the owners? This is crazy.
Gutted about the whole thing but hopefully we can get through it when we beat Blackpool 3-0.
Do people rate De Vries? I'm genuinely interested into what people have to say about him.

31.) 04 Aug 2014
I really feel like everybody is missing the plot on this one. if a player or players are worth that amount of money (not many prem players gone for that amount) then you think do we keep or let go "did the players want to stop" no body's asked that question!

32.) 04 Aug 2014
04 Aug 2014 19:55:27
Listening to the pearce interview was intresting and exciting yes he is annoyed the deals have gone through after he has twice said the offers wernt good enough, but also he said he would not walk away because he owes it to the loyal supporters of the club and the staff he has Brought to the club and feels he is the right man to drive us forward and will sign no players he feels wouldn't be good enough for a top six team and will also rid of any he feels wouldn't make a top six team. was slightly worried when he confirmed burnley Intrest in lansbury and seem to signal its all up to the player if they meet forest valuation? But he sounds good when talking hope results back it up :-) COYR

33.) 04 Aug 2014
Don't like to be too negative. but SP did'nt sound to confident about Lansbury!

34.) 04 Aug 2014
All, the end of the world is NOT nigh.

Sold against my advice is MUCH better than sold without my knowledge.

In fawaz we trust

35.) 04 Aug 2014
Lansbury to Burnley? He would need a translator.

36.) 04 Aug 2014
Why the rush to sell JL and KD if the sponsorship deal is to be announced any time now, perhaps it's smoke and mirrors COYR

37.) 04 Aug 2014
What is the exact fee?

38.) 04 Aug 2014
04 Aug 2014 21:22:25
What I find interesting is will this 7m be re-invested in the team or will it go towards unpaid bills or to balance the books for FFP?
It all feels like a panic sale, just need a quick buck to maybe pay something off?

{Ed034's Note - we have paid all of our bills.

39.) 04 Aug 2014
Didn't Kevin Campbell get sold behind harry basset's back when he was in charge

{Ed034's Note - bloody fawaz

40.) 04 Aug 2014
Already SP words are being twisted in the media, changed from "against my advice" to "against my will" big difference in that one word, I believe on reflection that SP was open to the sale and if it's only the price he's grumbling about well then it's Fawaz who's lost out on higher fees Pearce was prepared to let go. Harry McGuire to Hull 2.5million with lots more games under his belt than JL, perhaps the price ain't to bad after all.

41.) 04 Aug 2014
04 Aug 2014 21:39:12
Wow- from great expectations to a very real low throughout the forest supporters!
The only thing Fawas can do is get I Forest player and give an interview and come clean.
We all hope there is a reason for the better but I am amazed at the disrespect shown to SP??
Wrong on every level and we all feel betrayed at the minute.
SP was a true Red the way he came out- massive respect.
Fawas has to react very quickly or he will lose the fans.
He has done this and only he can right it!
Give SP the money to reinvest and it will be for the better good- the bigger picture etc etc!

42.) 04 Aug 2014
We would not be doing this deal if the sponsorship was real - even at the reduced rate of £14m per year as Ed reported.

43.) 04 Aug 2014
This is the most worrying occurrence since Fawaz took over. Mcleish, Warnock, Mcarthy. All saw something they didn't like. Perhaps it was the prospect of this kind of interaction with the owner. Such a come down in such a short space of time. Why always us?

44.) 04 Aug 2014
04 Aug 2014 22:05:31
I would expect add ons that would be beyond 7mil for the two. Potentially this could be great business, reduces burden in FFP, keep them both for the season (we need them both) and they may not even make it in the perm. I just hope 7mil is the tip of the iceberg in terms of total payment. Something had to give as we are spending too much, and for those of you who keep complaining that we shouldn't be selling as Fawaz is loaded please read up on FFP. Prefer them not to go but I think it's a good deal for us.

45.) 05 Aug 2014
I suppose that now Lansbury will look at Darlow and Lascelles and see them on double his wage. I'd be surprised if we can match those sort of wages with a new contract so seems inevitable he may move too if money is his motivation.

46.) 05 Aug 2014
Things were looking great Sat beat WBA played well, injured players on the way back, and now Booom! :- ( just before season starts, something is a miss!

47.) 05 Aug 2014
The philosophy of the club is all over the place. Why have a coach in Pearce, who was one of Englands finest players, who will improve the kids, raise their values and provide players that will be around the team for many years to come enjoying the success of the club.

If Fawas doesn't think this is the case, then he should get experienced players, and with it a manager like Pardew/Rednapp whos no similar track record playing the game but has many years experience wheeler dealing again with no track record in coaching to improve young players. In fact looking at the NUFC team a lot of up and coming players look to be going backwards in terms of development progression.

So is it really a good move for forest? the players and even NUFC? I expect Newcastle to sell both on before either actually have an established place in the team.

Whats concerning is what is Forest philosophy. Sell the young talent for the experienced players. So why have a coach such as Pearce?

48.) 05 Aug 2014
I'm not at all sure that anyone's twisting SP's words, and in any case it's perfectly clear from multiple reports how he feels about this episode. The most worrying aspect is that he is apparently extremely put out by the fact that his word has been broken by other parties in terms of retaining his best young players and that he feels the need to seek clarification on the financial status of the club and the parameters he has to work within - little more than a month after taking office! This apparent poor communication and lack of any clear understanding between owner and coach is a recurring situation and one can only conclude that that clause (proposed by Fawaz) in the new manager's contract about non-interference from above was very carefully drafted. The fact that he had to make the gesture (and I'm assuming that's all it was) in the first place was embarrassing enough without all the new fuel to the fire this week.

If there are valid financial reasons for all this, it's high time they were explained; lack of comment creates a vacuum that inevitably sucks in speculation. It's time for some honesty so the staff and supporters know where they stand.
