Evening all. Truthfully, I'm getting a bit worried about Stokey. He's currently on holiday with his wife/ partner/ boyfriend (delete as applicable) and seems to be more interested in this site. It's not normal. Whilst I can put up with my eyes bleeding trying to read his extended posts, I feel Stokey should be at least directing his insatiable desire to communicate with the locals there. It would give us all a holiday.

Thank you for your concern Legless. My wife and I decided on a “pampering” type holiday ( we are at the Ikos Dassia) where everything is done for us. Literally, apart from a trip to Corfu Old Town, we sit by the pool all day in ( minimum) 30 degrees where an army of waiters bring us drinks, cocktails, snacks etc then a spa if we want it, then shower anddress for dinner. That takes me about 20 minutes, my wife about 2 hours so I have plenty of time to think and text you lot and my mates.
Sadly we return home tomorrow evening …….
Then I’ll be a bit busy nipping up to Doncaster to see my daughter ( who s expecting in December) and her partner, my mate in Knaresborough ( who’s just had his hip operation) and looking after our 3 year old grandson. So you will all get a welcome break from me you ll be glad to know.
I’ve had so much time that I’ve managed to read the Alexandria Quartet by Lawrence Durrell …….

Just musing …. the run from the Airport to this bit of paradise is thought provoking as it’s very run down, derelict, buildings covered in graffiti, roads even worse than ours. Being members of the EU has undoubtedly saved Greece from becoming a third world country.
Yet culturally we owe them an enormous debt. I read that the Ancient Greeks name for Corfu was a word meaning “Scyth” because they mapped it accurately and it was in the shape of a scyth. That means ( in the age long before aerial and satellite navigation) they knew how to navigate, measure, record accurately. They produced philosophers like Sophocles, Aeschylus, Plato still read today, built temples with Doric columns still replicated in todays great buildings ( have a look at the Council House next time you are in the Old Market Square), invented democracy ……. 400 years before Christ was born.
We were at this time living in roundhouses in tiny villages made of mud, illiterate, semi savage, tribal.
Makes you wonder doesn’t it? ………. ??????.

Wet Wednesday night in Stoke, isn't a saying for nothing Stokie. I once did a Trotters ethic tour there. Tunstall, Mier and Longton, Fenton and Woolstanton. It was an open top bus.

Never been to Liverpool can't say there would be anything that attracts me to go there rubbish football teams people who walk round in shell suits shouting now then now then and probably wouldn't have much of my car left to come back with ??.
