I'm hearing rumours we've re signed Sam Surridge? Anybody else heard this or is it a windup?
I thought he did well for us by the way.

Right now I'd take him over Taiwo and if Everton are serious about taking him off us its got to be win win.

There's talk linking us with De Zerbi. So long as it's not his much less successful Championship brother De Derbi. ????.

I d add quite a few noughts to that Skegs if I were you mate! And that’s if we are lucky. It’s loss of points that will kill us…….

“The name of the club doesn't matter. Every club should be treated equally under the rules set out.

“But the elephant in the room isn't being addressed. 115 charges, zero action. Why? ”.

5.) 16 Jan 2024 09:32:22
There's a cult developing In this fanbase. Some fans am have fallen for the clueless and wreckless owners nonesense about ambition while breaking rules he voted to make last year at the long term expenses of the club. Thankgod for ffp to protect the long term future of clubs from bad ownership. Show some real ambition Instead of being nodding dogs to mariankiss, he sells anyone good buys a team for the money he gets and says that ambition, the ground was announced five years ago nothing, we are a laughing stock under him. Get these out while we're prem and hope for proper owners from USA or suadi.

6.) 16 Jan 2024 18:27:39
My nonsense-meter is twitching!

Owners take a calculated risk to stay in the Prem. Get accused of being wreckless when it works. Fans like being in the Prem are called members of a cult.

The solution: Get owners like the ones at Man United (Glazers? ) or Man city (109 charges and run a country where women celebrate being ALLOWED to drive in 2018),

Forstphil, what team do you support?

I don't usually pay much credence to the comments of Jamie Carragher aka Spit the Punk Dog, but the NEP s reported conversation between him and SC is very interesting and worth a read. It's a good summation of SCs "nightmare"situation under Marinkinakos ( and presumably that situation will be continued under Nunez).
It would appear that SC had no idea of what players ( and in what numbers) would be arriving at the club, despite his oft repeated mantra that he, the owner and the recruitment team were all supposedly "reading off the same page"?
It might be a rare glimpse behind the scenes at our beloved club before the media gag is imposed as part of the terms of SCs payoff.

Tough to see SC go and we have to remain positive about Nuno. Did a great job with Wolves so just got to see how the City ground welcomes him saturday.

Transfers wise, realistically, we sell McKenna and Worrall unless they are given a chance by Nuno. I think we cancel the loans for Montiel, Tavares, santos and origi - they have offered us nothing all season.

Maybe sell Boly as he hates Nuno from their time at wolves and maybe sell Felipe due to injuries (hard for me to say this) but he's a strong leader in the group.

We sign Nino from Fluminense (centre half linked with) and get Omobamidele involved more with 1st team squad

The midfield is sound and we cover - Yates and Mangala start.

We buy another winger who has PL experience to compete with Hudson-Odoi and Elanga (Sancho on loan but doubt that will happen! ) and then we buy a striker. Maybe try and get the lad Serhou Guirassy from Stuttgart for 17.5m release clause but he may go elsewhere. Keep Wood as a last minute backup ready for Awoniyi.

2.) 21 Dec 2023 14:12:18
I don't get why we keep going on about players coming in are not the managers choice, it been like that for years now thier is not one manager out their that has control over the players that come in.

A manager years ago would go and scout the player themselves and go back to the owner or chairman and say who they wanted, however we don't have managers anymore they are HEAD COACH who are just told to train the players and its done to the director or football who we bring in, and it's also a lot to do with agents who in my opinion have spoilt the game.

3.) 21 Dec 2023 15:14:21
Lower BC, that’s why we willl never attract any great coaches. Can you imagine Klopp, Pep or Arteta putting up with the interference like SC has had to? Hence, the merry go round of new appointments.

4.) 21 Dec 2023 18:12:51
Do you really think they have that much say on who comes in aswell, good example kelvin Philips great prospect went to man city and has sat on the bench, he was not peps choice of player and it shows pep didn't want him, arteta never wanted ramesdale his first choice was alway raya.

We won't attract no big coach at the moment due to not finishing high enough in the league and no European football.

Who is a top class coach you would like to see though being our head coach, for me I would like Marco rose.

{Ed001's Note - neither of those examples are true, both Pep and Arteta have full control of recruitment.}

5.) 21 Dec 2023 19:40:32
Thought so Ed1. What’s the recruitment agreement at Liverpool with Klopp?

{Ed001's Note - he has final say.}

To cheer everybody up after Sunday.
Forest women won promotion into the Championship as undefeated champions ( won 18, drew 4 lost none) to add to their League Cup win.
Our Under 20s are in the Youth European Cup and play Lyon. May have to do it without Zach Abbott though.
Nottingham Panthers Ice Hockey won the Elite League playoffs
Nottinghamshire Cricket are top of the Championship after 4 games, 2 wins 2 draws ( in one of which the opposition were saved by the weather).
Forest are still masters of their own destiny for European Champions League. The FA Cup will be seen in the same light as General Joachims dash to capture Vienna a fortnight before Austerlitz. A glittering prize but militarily not as important ( but for Murat achieved without bloodshed by a ruse). So, in effect, a great day out like our fans down Wembley Way, win or lose.
By the way Legolas, if I get to the CG with time to spare I'll send you a photo of the footings of the ancient Trent Bridge opposite the TBI which I mentioned when we met. if you'd like that ???????.

StokeyRed

1.) 29 Apr 2025 12:02:55
Nott's County in the play offs, and a outside chance, very, very slim chance of automatic promotion.

2.) 29 Apr 2025 13:27:44
Just by way of explanation Lego, my friend, I was reminded of our conversation in connection with Joachim Murats ruse as his it consisted of him approaching the fortified Tabor Bridge over the Danube with his second in command, both in full dress uniform, and insisting to the Commander of the Guard that a truce was in force. Whilst they were checking he whistled up a big force of cavalry who galloped across the bridge before they could blow it up with dynamite which was in place. From there it’s about 3 miles to Vienna City Centre.
That bridge has been replaced by a 4 lane traffic bridge with a footbridge nearby. I think it’s called the Leopoldstadt Bridge now. I had a walk to the location on our cruise 2 years ago and the footings are still there, partly incorporated into an old wharf.
Much like Trent Bridge. Hard to imagine such exciting events taking place near the muddy river bank.
Incidentally, mate, if you are still awake, the old medieval Trent Bridge was aligned differently to the present one. That’s why London Road has a left kink in it as you pass the hotdog stand onto the Bridge.
The TBI was, for centuries, where travellers would have a wet or stay overnight before they went into the City. ?????.

3.) 29 Apr 2025 14:17:18
Piece of the old bridge is still there when you cross road towards county hall.

4.) 29 Apr 2025 14:44:21
Yes, that’s provably the bit I’m talking about DTP. Between County Hall and the road going over Trent Bridge.

Now that the dust has settled from yesterday, here's my tuppence worth to the excellent points already made on here.
Firstly, before the game I did say that Nuno is a superb coach but very occasionally he over thinks it. Sunday was a case in point. He played 3 centre backs and packed the midfield with the understandable aim of covering for his full back shortage and wearing down City in a sort of Ali rope a dope like he did in our win at the CG. Unfortunately, it came unstuck in the first 2 minutes with an attack down our centre which should have been packed with bodies. As the great Prussian Field Marshall Helmuth Von Moltke the Elder said "Even the best battle plans rarely survive first contact with the enemy". So it proved. The second goal was likewise not down the wings but via poor defending in the centre from a corner.
Secondly, we missed Yates. Apart from his height he wouldn't have been brushed aside down the middle like Danillo. He might well have been booked or given away a free kick but they wouldn't have got past him.
Thirdly, Danillo needs a pre season start from scratch as he's never been at it since his injury. It was a mistake in selection to start him
Fourthly, Anderson needs to play centrally not out wide wheres he s wasted and ineffective.
Fifthly, young Abbott did ok and is definately one for the future. He will learn a lot from this game and the occasion, so credit to the lad.
Lastly, let's keep things in perspective comrades. City's starting 11 cost £441 m, ours cost £141m. Their bench cost £280 m ours cost £94m. They have had billions to spend over the years from an entire oil rich state, we have 23 years in the lower leagues and 2 near the bottom of the Premier League with one man's investment. We have been docked 4 points for a 3 month unauthorised FFP overdraft, they have been fined jack ?for a decade of illegal funding. I'll leave it with the great man's words. " You can throw all your cups and medals and your pots and pans in the bin because you've got them all by cheating". As it was, in the end, we lost by fine margins. If any of those 3 efforts which hit the woodwork or Elangas inexplicable miss had gone in, well who knows. We should have gone at them from the off. We may well have lost anyway but at least we wouldn't have died wondering "what if"? In football, as in life, in my view, it's always better to die on your feet than live on your knees, my friends.
As a PS I'll say we have the best fans in the world, the support at Wembley was first class so hats off to all those who travelled. Coyr! ??????.

StokeyRed

1.) 28 Apr 2025 22:45:55
No he didn't play three centre backs at all
He played a kid at right back that normally plays centre half for the under 21s
What happens to city is irrelevant when talking about the game
That's just sour grapes.

2.) 28 Apr 2025 22:49:39
Great post?.

3.) 28 Apr 2025 22:53:54
Stokey also the atmosphere died when city scored the first, picked up when elanga should of scored plus when gibbs white should have scored and when awoniyi and gibbs white struck woodwork
Didn't see much moaning down in Wembley must admit
Sun was shining and barring the result, a very enjoyable day out
Seen so many of the old boys, great day.

4.) 28 Apr 2025 23:26:54
Hey DTP, i take it you've finally recovered from the sugar crash after all those panda pops?

Haha sorry i couldn't help myself.
The second half atmosphere was electric mate, the players responded to it until the scored their 2nd.
Great day in the capital, as you said shame about the result but as Stokey stated the difference in the squads was huge.

5.) 29 Apr 2025 07:19:45
Which is what I've said st pirran
They scored after 6 mins of second half
I had to keep sending out to just eat for my pops as pub didn't sell em ????.

6.) 29 Apr 2025 10:36:57
I teared up on Wembley way mate, never seen so many reds in one place. ?.

7.) 29 Apr 2025 11:08:44
DTP, mate, of course it was 4 at the back on paper as there were only 4 defenders in the starting line up. But Zach played very narrowly, effectively a 3rd centre back, usually leaving mostly the likes of Dominquez and occasionally CHO to pick up Marmoush. Perhaps he was aware of his lack of pace, inexperience at this level and reluctance to get too far out. I’d imagine Nuno, with his attention to detail, would have sanctioned this. In the event, the lad did very well and the goals came from poor defending down the middle. The threat from the flanks was mostly contained by Zach and Toffolo who both put in a shift. However, I only watched it on TV so I defer to your greater judgement, being present.
I remember back in SCs Championship promotion team when he played 3 in the middle ( usually Cook, McKenna and Worrall) Joe, with his lack of pace, was always anxiously urging Spence to cover for him out wide. Perhaps similar on Sunday.
As for City, it’s not sour grapes, just pointing out to what extent we are always underdogs against moneybag teams like them. I leave other people to form their own judgements on the bias and unfairness. I have my own opinions and it is what it is. Cloughies quote referred to Revies Leeds conduct on the pitch ( and the Dons infamous dossiers ) not financial matters. But, in my view, it’s cheating none the less.
It also highlights how brilliantly we’ve done this season against massive odds, much like Cloughie.

8.) 29 Apr 2025 11:53:22
Sorry Abbott played at a right back all full backs come in from the bye line when the ball isn't on their side of the pitch, that's normal defending.

9.) 29 Apr 2025 13:29:33
Yes I meant even when the ball was on his wing mate. He was still tucked in with support. But, as I say, you had a better view of it as I only saw it on TV.

10.) 29 Apr 2025 14:57:29
At times from the over view we had 9 at the back with Woody as the only player pressing ?.

25 Apr 2025 12:44:58
Olna Aina has just revealed his injury is " a small Grade 2 tear in a calf muscle". Speaking to my physio daughter she reckons 4 to 6 weeks. As the injury happened on April 1st v Man Utd that suggests beginning of May for a return.

Just fell out with a Frenchman on Facebook. Apparently the winner with the fastest ever time in the Tour de France was not the 5th Panzer division. ??

I went to see my therapist yesterday as I was depressed at completing the crossword too quickly. He told me not to get too down. ?

Just been watching highlights of the Spurs game and enormous credit to the bravery of Woody for his goal. He could easily have been clattered by their goal keeper rushing out to punch but kept his eye on the ball and finished brilliantly. Takes some bottle that does. Look what happened to Madison against Frankfurt.

StokeyRed

1.) 23 Apr 2025 12:19:02
It's a pity his second goal was ruled out by VAR, if he scored i think ten minutes later it would have counted as there was a fire alarm went of at VAR headquarters and the Ref gave it ?.

2.) 23 Apr 2025 13:18:03
Apparently Maddison was more worried about his hair transplant.

Winter, mate, I read somewhere that Aina on his travels had given an interview to some African newspaper letting slip he’d already signed a new long term contract with Forest. This could he a mistranslation of course. Hope it’s true though. Not only an excellent, fast and versatile footballer, he seems a leader in the dressing room too.

I saw Gyokeres a few times when he played for Coventry Perko. Undoubtedly talented but he was a bit lazy and tended to fade in and out of games. Of course, that's a few years ago now when we were in the Championship so he might have added better workload into his strengths since then. Good finisher though and might be worth a shout. Not at £75 million though …….

It’s a difficult decision BSE. As they say, with hindsight you get 20/ 20 vision. I hadnt realised that young Eric de Moreira was injured as that would have been a straight like for like swap.
I’d certainly have put Elanga in, with CHO, as their pace forces teams to pull back an extra 15 yards to allow for the quick break so we’re not defending right on the edge of our box, where Lewis scored their first from. But we don’t know if Elanga is fully fit.
Anyway, mistake or not by Nuno, at the end of the day, both goals were the result of poor defending and the defeat the result of poor finishing by Elanga and hitting the woodwork 3 times. I guess, after all those penalty shoot out wins, our luck was going to run out at some point, especially against a team like City where you don’t get much of a second chance.
