It is alleged we are after James McClean from Stoke.

That would be because he's an Irish International chosen by MON to play for the national side. He knows the player, and what the lad can do, begorrah.

For all the negative reaction to Johan beneloane joining us and i have looked at his stats. Some of the stuff on youtube show a comepetent mobile skilful tough tackling defender. Can do no worse than what we have available.

A lot better than what we have Rutland at least he's a defender doing a defending job .not a midfielder or a winger as used over the past 12 months .hey we might even have a manager doing a managers job now as well what do you think Sutton πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

I spoke with a leicester fan who watches every game including under 23's home and away and he says he is a very good cultured centreback. Gets stuck in and may take a few yellows. He reckons oneil is just the man to get the best from him.

Is Lacovitti out on loan? If not, why not give him a game? And what about the young Swedish centre back? I hope young players get more opportunity under M O'N than they did with Karanka.

Yes, what is the point of keeping Anel Ahmedhodzic if we don't even play him when no other defender is fit. It must sent the message that you will never get a chance if he doesn't get one now.

Agree1 0Disagree

18 Jan 2019 16:00:24
And no, Lacovitti - Scottish International - is not out on loan as he was in the U23 side.

And Anel Ahmedhodzic is also an intenational.

Agree with 79 (for once) give him a chance but 16 games in 4 years he will need game time to get match fit.

Well guys we now have a manager whose commitment to the cause is beyond question and is prepared to give it his best shot for 18 months. What we know about the man is that if he thinks he cannot deliver he will be the first to acknowledge the fact and move over.

Everyone craves for stability over the longer term so there is now no excuse for fans and owner not to back him to the hilt for the duration as their is very rarely a quick fix in life!

I'm happy to nail my colours to the MON mast for the duration but I have a feeling that the instant gratification brigade will be chirping up after 6, 12 and the remaining games this term if results and performances take time to get on track?

Looking forward to the banter and watching Martin's back from the knife throwers and any Trojan Horses that pop out the stables!

COYR's.

Your post starts extremely well red, thinly veiled tongue in cheek mischief then follows.
I'm with you that the owners have made the right decision all round both with the appointment of Martin and the length of contract bearing in mind we're half way through a season.
I'll nail my colours to the mast along with your.lucky red pants, nice to have you back you old git😁😁😁

RIE, The way your post is written anyone would take it you think some want any and all managers to fail so they can take pleasure from it.

We all want Martin to succeed, and we all have wanted each and every other manager to succeed before him aswell.

Yes some people that do not like a certain manager will use what they can to try and prove their dislike of that manager is justified, but at no time do they want him to fail.

I'm sure if the manager they have disliked had got the team to be successful they would have been very happy and put their hands up for being wrong.

Every new manager, so Martin is no exception needs time to get the team to play the way he wants them to, but if any performance is not good enough people are entitled to say so, but at the same time those same people will only be wanting the manager to get the team to improve on that bad performance.

Should the team go on a losing run people will get nervous, but again those same people will only be wanting the manager to get the team to improve the results, and again they will be entitled to have their say on what the manager is doing wrong, or what any given player is doing wrong.

All everyone wants to see is a genuine improvement in performances, and for the team to be able to go on runs of winning five or more games on the trot.

Is that asking too much?

LC,
We have had so much dross and hype managing and owning the club combined with Sky and social media that has driven short term unrealistic demands from fans and owners.

This is why we have been in the doldrums for so long and why too many fans are far too quick to make judgement when things do go as they expect given our history.

So yes I do think that there are fans that are conditioned to will failure and change to justify their need for instant gratification immediately we get the going gets tough in the world's competitive league. In life if you have not gone through adversity with a group and a leader and come out the otherside you will never reach your goals.

Forest have not gone on that journey since OBE so it's little wonder we are where we are despite having one or two managers along the way who had they been given 18/24 months backing could have built a successful team.

Martin's appointment has brought us full circle with our most successful period experienced by the current generation of fans so remembering how OBE started he would not have survived today with current fan expectations. The contract template is set for MON to give it his best shot in the spirit of our finest hours. However, it's not rocket science to predict the usual suspects will be on his case immediately the going gets tough which it inevitably will and I'm unconvinced that the owner and his hirings have the bottle to back the manager for the duration if social media turns negative.

Therefore, having nailed my colours to the mast I'm backing "Krankie's Irish Dad" through thick and thin so bring it on let's see a contract out once again and see what happens? πŸ˜ŽπŸ€‘πŸ˜Š

A total contradiction from you red, you loved telling us how bad warbo was and his signings and didn't complain when the owners sacked him.
Long post to say something that you actually don't go along with.
We have had good times since cloughie ie, Clark and Bassett and under Billy first time, not all been doom and gloom.

When you really think about it, aren't all three Portuguese lads the same kind of player? They have speed and quick feet but no idea how to tackle and drop back to help their defence. Carvalho is the exception because he has a good brain and eyes for a killer pass, but both he and Goncalves are easily nudged off the ball. Seems to me we need people like Bridcutt and Yates in midfield along with Colback/Yacob/Osborn, but I wonder if MON will see things differently?

Agree4 1Disagree

17 Jan 2019 13:50:53
Carvalaho has no pace and certainly no burst in him. His first touch is not great and where he has a pass in him, is it really enough in this bustling league???

You ever watched Carvalho Rutland?? The lad is best passer of a ball I have seen at Forest in years. He isn’t the fastest but he runs clever and makes good runs and nice touches. he has odd game where he gets lost and isn’t most phyisical but his passing is usually excellent!

James McCarthy is surplus at Everton and is just the sort of midfielder to add energy to our midfield and a firm favourite of Martin.

A great statement of intent if Martin goes for him and let's go of a couple of our fringe players?

To be fair we have a strong midfield. We need a CB, LB and maybe a striker.

Agree2 1Disagree

17 Jan 2019 09:46:20
Robinson is half decent at LB, needs to curb his bookings tally.
Agree on CB but I'd go for a league 1, younger player that's really hungry and wants to progress.
Striker on loan only, it's January don't spend stupid money on someone's cast off to end up rotting on high wages.

Agree1 0Disagree

17 Jan 2019 10:34:02
Evertonians are calling the McCarthy rumour up here. 'When he's fit, he's a cracking player'. So not fit and on PL wages. Loan with a view to permanent, subject to contract maybe? But agree, we need 3 midfielders shifting first.

Agree0 0Disagree

17 Jan 2019 13:24:28
We already have a good strong box to box midfielder, he's called Yates we don't need any more. I'd prefer Bridcutt to Guediora any day.

Agree6 1Disagree

17 Jan 2019 15:55:10
I'm looking forward to seeing the likes of Yates and appiah as I think Martin will give them their chance, but it's still early in their careers,so we must expect to much to soon from them.
Think he will use the likes of ward and bridcutt as well.
If figs and Dawson aren't fit for Saturday I'd prefer Anel Ahmedhodzic to make his debut, not keen on makeshift centre backs and shuffling everything around, just play a player whoes position that is.

Agree1 1Disagree

17 Jan 2019 16:58:34
Anel, I believe, has played for his country internationally, but I don't recall him being outstanding in any way. Putting him in the centre means he will need an awful lot of advice because of his lack of experience and against a team like Bristol that would be a big mistake. Most likely Yacob will have to play there again because he knows how to position himself and is a good tackler - that always brings confidence to those around him.

799, Although Keane is entitled to ask for what he wants, he must have been offered decent money.

If he is more bothered about a bit more money over helping another club legend to steer Nottingham Forest to the Premier league then he is not that bothered about the job.

So his attitude is negative.
