The more I look at this squad, the more I think we’ll be playing a 4-3-3 with Watson sitting in front of the back 4. I do see potential in a 343 too with cash as a wingback. Needless to say I’m excited for the season and look forward to going to as many games as possible.

I imagined it more to be 4-2-3-1

2.) 08 Jul 2018 10:50:53
I would like to see him try a 3-5-2. But am not sure if it will happen though?

Does anyone know who the keeper is in the net on the photos of Forest’s first training session? Doesn’t look like smith.

Floresta

1.) 25 Jun 2018 20:22:21
Not seen the pic but maybe Kapino? Have u got a link to the photo?

2.) 25 Jun 2018 23:39:33
It was Smith, he just has a shit new hair cut!

3.) 26 Jun 2018 15:49:13
I hope it's nice and short to increase streamlining and hence improve agility!

4.) 26 Jun 2018 21:09:32
He didn't have it cut by Mrs Lichaj did he?

Not to take away anything from the performance last night but I think I know the reason we aren’t getting our way with attacks. Every single ball up the players took a touch then pushed forward with their second. I might be being picky but if they opened their bodies and touched the ball infront of them, rather than controlling it, I think we’d have a higher tempo and more threat going forward. Still a good win yesterday and Mr Cash showing what our academy can produce!

Get this Man on to the forest coaching staff quick AK

19 Aug 2018 20:31:43
Having seen his penalty saved, I think Grabban should sit the next game on the bench, it’s not a punishment or anything I just think that he needs to have a game where he either comes on as a sub or gets a chance to take the sting out of his lack of goals. I would personally play Brereton with lolley, soudani and cash behind. I’d also have Robinson and Byram in as they are better fullbacks.

I do think that with the strength in depth we could also have the three Portugeezers in and we’d still have an equally good chance.

Floresta

1.) 19 Aug 2018 21:03:08
brereton might not be there saturday according to some.

2.) 19 Aug 2018 21:13:10
I think the bb deal is nearly done won't see him playing for forest again I fear

3.) 19 Aug 2018 22:26:44
Loan brereton for season charge them 1m loan fee. He comes back better player having done business Worth double they offering

4.) 19 Aug 2018 23:54:56
If brereton thinks this is a smart move he has been taken for a ride by his agents.i wonder how much warbo will make out of it?

So, with talk of getting in Byram but it not happening as of yet, I started to think. Whilst I agree we do need a right back, and Byram being a very good option for us, if we don’t fill the void left by Mr Lichaj all is not lost. Cash could do the role well, as he seems to do every other role, then we have Lam who AK is trying to find a spot for, he’d be a capable back up, albeit a little defensive. That’s just looking at our none academy players. Gabriel might not be too far away from a first team slot, he should definitely be considered for a loan.

1.) 28 Jul 2018 08:12:04
Filling a void and aiming for promotion isn’t the best combination in my eyes.you need players that play in that position regular who have the full understanding of that role.osborn (correct spelling) was used as left back and fans jumped on his back when he had a bad game but it’s not his favoured position.we should of kept lichaj at least until we found a replacement.

13 Jul 2018 05:12:21
Greg Halford anyone? Seemed a bit of a liability at times but always gave his all and would make our set pieces a lot better (those long throws and his aerial presence).

Floresta

1.) 13 Jul 2018 08:52:15
He's 33 now mate, definitely a non starter for me.

2.) 13 Jul 2018 11:35:17
Sorry but no where near promotion standard

3.) 13 Jul 2018 12:14:45
Sorry Red James pressed thumbs down by mistake. Oops.

4.) 13 Jul 2018 12:33:09
Just what we need to lead our forward line and slow the game down! Square peg in a round hole and very stale stellar from the dark ages?

5.) 13 Jul 2018 15:57:05
Lol 😂 red ! Get in ! No alternative view offered on this occasion !

6.) 13 Jul 2018 18:20:07
Get him in he'd make a smashing striker 🤭

Carvalho’s movement is absolutely brilliant, he’s always looking for gaps and space. Doing this pushes teams back and keeps their defenders constantly on their toes which leads to more time and space for the midfield. Creativity isn’t just what you can do with the ball, it’s also what you can do without it.

If those chances Osborn had fell to any of the other forward players we’d probably have won today. I would probably swap him for Carvalho (for creativity) then it comes down to guedioras fitness.

It depends on how you play the 4-2-3-1 formation. Having 2 holding midfielders can work because you can push your full backs higher up. The alternative way to use the holding midfielders is to have one anchor and one Pirlo style role. The issue is Watson is too focused on trying to be the anchorman because he lacks the pace to cover the full backs and isn’t looking to pass it around like Reidy used to. I think having Bridcutt and Colback can work until Geddy is back. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that our best two performances this season were when the Colback Watson combo weren’t playing.

I’m sorry what? Forest wasted the difference between the two sides total passes? Where did you learn statistics? Forest had 72.7% pass accuracy meaning that around 121 passes went astray which to be honest is still wasteful but the stat also counts goal kicks, long balls and Ben Watson. So realistically speaking as we play a lot of little balls it’s not necessarily a great stat.

I think he needs to play guediora. Carvalho is coming deep because Watson and Colback sit deep so he needs to retrieve the ball. Guediora would bring the ball out and has a good range of passing. There’s no point harping on about Norwich we can’t change the result. Learning from mistakes is important. I think Cash will help us, as will Dias it might be worth having cash play centrally with Lolley get that Christmas tree formation going, it’s almost the season for it!

Seems to be a lot of entitlement here. Some people can’t go every week either through finances, health or distance. People don’t have more or less of an opinion or are more or less of a fan because they attend games. I feel like more of a fan now that I don’t go because I watch more content, subscribe to all of the things I can afford to and when I do am more appreciative of the whole team and squad because it’s unusual for me. If you go every week it becomes less special, so people get jaded. I understand both sides of the debate, it’s whether you see yourself as a supporter or a customer. If you’re a supporter you’re giving the club money and want to help the team, if you’re a customer you’re paying for the performance and expect the team to turn up. Both views are correct in my opinion. I think the best analogy would be if your boss is demanding work to be done you’ll resent it more than if your boss is asking and encouraging you to do something. We’re the boss in this scenario and I think Karanka is feeling it.

To be honest I’d be happy with a 3-4-3.
Heff Dawson Fox
Janko Guediora Colback Osborn
Dias Murphy Lolley

Think this would work better as we can use the wingers to break and Murphy can hold the ball up and then defensively we don’t have to worry about Osborn as much because he’s got arguably one of our player of the season contenders behind him.

As my manager always used to say, clear desk, clear mind. The underlying issues of poor organisation, leadership and direction seem to have been quashed. I’m sure there are still issues but not as many as in the past, and none that are prevalent. This is leading the management team and players to be able to focus on football and focus on winning. Before people say that they are professionals and should always focus on football, or they get paid enough to not worry, remember footballers are still young men, they retire at 35-38 years old. Most people are still finding their careers at that age and more are susceptible to the background noise that comes with the issues I listed in the past. It doesn’t matter who your line manager is, if the worlds falling all sround you you’re going to get dirty.

If they did come in with a good cash offer + tomlin, I’d consider it depending on our position at the time. £15m+ is the right figure but if we’re up in the playoffs it would take a lot more because he’s currently irreplaceable. I’d rather us look to offload others, maybe Worrall if anyone is interested or Smith. Yes they have potential but for themselves they need more game time, and for us we get some money to offset the summer spending.
