I bumped into Michael Dawson at a garden centre in East Bridgford earlier today. I told him we needed him back and with a big smile on his face he said "next week, next week".

I hope so.

Hope you didn’t bump into him too hard, he’ll be out injured again πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ Great news if true though, we could do with him back asap. Great player and organiser.

Just back from Birmingham and thought i'd share a few observations.

Too much long ball for the first hour. Murphy battled manfully but can't be expected to bring the ball down from 7 feet in the air when competing against two central defenders. Biggest problem was that we didn't win enough second ball following Murphy's aerial battles that resulted from the long ball tactic.

General passing and movement was poor for an hour but changed when Grabban and Bonatini were introduced as the extra man up front and their greater movement seemed to create more pressure and openings.

Biggest transformation followed the introduction of Carvalho who added skill, guile and neater passing. His movement and vision seemed to click Forest up a gear and helped create real opportunities for us. It's not his fault Forest paid what they did for him so I think we need to get behind the lad as he has real skill and can help open up defences.

Milosevic looked uncertain, but that's not surprising given he's only just arrived. Bonatini looked confident and lively and happy to give it a go. I'm not sure why Osborn has received criticism as once again he gave everything.

Sadly, Gueddy looked a shadow of his former self, despite his excellent work ethic.

2-0 flattered Birmingham big time. They looked average at best and were not tested by us until the last 20 minutes when we really upped our game. Neither did they put us under any sustained pressure.

In summary, a questionable long ball aporoach didn't work for us, but we looked more cohesive and played further up the pitch once we'd got more fire power and passing ability on the pitch.

Great turn out from Forest's away contingent as always!

Why don’t our managers have a go from the bloody start. Listening to posts we are going backwards again. Keep saying it would rather loose 4-3 than watch boring football. Brian Clough must be turning in his grave. What was the quote, if football was meant to be played in the air pitches would be in the clouds.

Very observant Sgetty.
Good informative post L F.

4.) 03 Feb 2019 08:06:41
I agree rational and sensible post LF from someone who actually watched the game rather than listen or read rumours sites. MoN is a good manager and he will learn and we will not see the same side next week

Although we were not given an opportunity to vote in our leader, despite our differing views and perhaps even divisions, I hope that we can all unite behind them and what they are trying to achieve for us. The last thing we need is to keep chopping and changing.

What we need now is strong and stable leadership, and I believe that they will be able to provide this. There may need to be a re-shuffle within the leadership team and time will tell who is tasked to support them over the challenging months ahead.

For far too long we have been in this malaise and it has not gone unnoticed that our near neighbours seem to have enjoyed seeing us suffer. We cannot change our neighbours, geography is what it is, but perhaps in time we can demonstrate to them once again just how great we are. In any case, they haven't been that great either!

There has been significant trade with our neighbours over the years in both directions, and there is no reason that this cannot continue in some form in the years ahead. We don't have to like them to do business with them as long as it is on terms agreeable to us. Let's face it, they have done very well out of us over the years and dare I say it; we have bailed them out of a hole or two.

There have been many complaints about our problematic back-stopper, which I am sure our leader will give much thought to. We do definitely need a back-stopper in case things aren't going too well, but perhaps the current one can be replaced by another that is able to achieve what is required.

Whatever your thoughts on Europe, it has been important to us over the years and I for one do not want to say goodbye to it forever. We have enjoyed many happy times in Europe's embrace in the past and although our ties to it have deteriorated terribly, I hope that we are able rejoin European affairs in the not too distant future and be welcomed back with open arms. How nice it would be to have the freedom and opportunity to revisit such wonderful cities as Munich and Madrid.

Our successful presence on the European stage earned us respect and admiration, not just in Europe, but around the world, and I for one look forward to the day that this returns!

COYR.

2.) 16 Jan 2019 12:38:41
And that was a party political broadcast by the forest unite party. πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

I will support Martin. Loved here by all but I do think he is past his best. Keane will upset everyone and it will end in tears. I wanted Jokanovic but hope I am wrong.

4.) 16 Jan 2019 13:45:54
Karanka upset more than a few,Worrall,Clough, ward, bridcutt,Yates, appiah,Smith, walker,Watson, and a few more will be glad to see the back of him.
Think Keane has learnt from Martin and will install confidence and discipline in the players, something that's been lacking.

5.) 16 Jan 2019 14:06:12
799, I bet even Keane's dog does not like him, he seems to have not learned from any of his mistakes let alone anything off Martin. 🀣

6.) 16 Jan 2019 14:38:00
According to Colback in an interview Keane was never afraid to rip into people when they played badly but was really encouraging and positive when you played well which made players want to always play well and avoid his Raith!
Not a bad thing in my eyes!!!

7.) 16 Jan 2019 15:02:19
RR, Different people react in different ways to to those antics. A rollicking needs to be handed out every now and then to be be effective, not on a regular basis.

8.) 16 Jan 2019 15:14:50
Keane’s dog looks very attached to his master from what I’ve seen.

9.) 16 Jan 2019 15:25:01
2star, If you call a lead being attached to its collar at one end and the other end being in Keane's hand then yes very attached. 🀣

10.) 16 Jan 2019 16:06:56
Still not sure if the original post is about Forest or Brexit.

Great post though.

11.) 16 Jan 2019 16:58:24
Really? Ok never mind.

12.) 16 Jan 2019 18:35:30
We are not in crisis we have an experienced manager at the helm.

The squad shortcomings are still the same and most of the players on the upset list are not good enough except maybe our academy players who should now get a go before we recruit?

Free hit on Saturday so handbrake off, smiley faces, 3 points and a few goals please?

Please can we stop this negativity and harping back it's happened, he's gone, The King is Dead Long Live The King! πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ‘

The scale of our deficiencies on today's performance is truly shocking. Some have suggested that WBA were mediocre, but in my view they got their goals and just did what was necessary to see the game out. Fair play to them.

Perhaps he's keeping our key players fresh for the Derby game. Or, erm. .
