Another twist in the Marinakis affair. Presumably nothing to do with him, but does someone seem to have it in for him? He seems such a generous philanthropist, it seems hard to believe all of these charges that appear.

1.) 24 Mar 2018 17:24:26
Probably par for the course among his colleague businessmen, always trying to get one over on each other.

2.) 24 Mar 2018 22:01:50
No smoke without fire.
Obviously done something to upset the establishment in Greece.
It's either trying to get something on him, anything or he's a wrong un
Up to the Greek courts to decide.
This one's the most serious as all assets are seized in drug trafficking.
There has to be something in his business dealings that don't go down well ?
Let's hope his denial of wrong doing is correct and itd all fabrication, but word of caution for me is?
When your an olympiakos fan playing champions league football, why buy a champioship club that doesn't own it's own ground and has no assets?
Why did it take so long for him to pass the fit and proper owners?
I've not seen a very rich man being accused of so much in such a short time?
Just saying and let's hope he's a good in.

3.) 24 Mar 2018 22:35:41
But there's also a saying no smoke without fire lol most rich men haven't got there by being honest

4.) 25 Mar 2018 12:00:17
As long as it buys a top striker 😆

5.) 25 Mar 2018 21:50:49
Owning a boat is like owning an investment property. You never quite know what your hirers are up to on your premises?

6.) 26 Mar 2018 09:52:01
Innocent until proven guilty.😇

7.) 26 Mar 2018 17:12:34
When I've spoken to football fans in Greece, their attitude is that when Marinkas took over Olympiacos, they were nowhere, all of a sudden they were the top Greek club.
Although there has been no evidence they think he has bribed and used his money in an underhand way to get what he wants.
No evidence, but sour grapes from supporters of other clubs in Greece.

{Ed002's Note - Marinakis is simply a businessman, like Robert Maxwell. People like them never do wrong, it is simply business.}

8.) 26 Mar 2018 23:12:28
Dazza, it seems a bit of an odd view that your greek acquaintances have, given that Olympiacos have won 19 of the last 21 Greek league titles (not to mention the 25 in 60 years before that). With Evangalos having only been in charge for the last 7 of those.

9.) 28 Mar 2018 23:21:24
Football is politics in Greece so there will always be people trying to undermine a top politician who owns a football club!

The Chairman's statement is fair and reasoned so I would sooner have a successful global businessman who loves his sport than previous owners who were never really in it to win it?

11 Mar 2018 21:56:17
AK knows exactly what he is doing. The priority with our team sliding down the table due to the huge number of goals conceded was to tighten up at the back. He's done that with three new players and one previously derided senior pro. That square at the back of Fig, Fox, Colback and Watson has performed brilliantly in

(a) being a settled four over the last six games
(b) cut out many, but not all, mistakes
(c) become a vocal engine room driving the whole team.

Karanka was a world class defender and it shows in his decision making in bringing in Fig and moving Fox across. We can delve through the archives on here to find those who questioned that but they've been firmly silenced. There's creativity in the middle too but obviously we need a striker.

Everyone involved with the club knows this so AK has been very clever in that he has tightened up the back and sent us on a morale boosting unbeaten run. We're safe now and these unspectacular 0-0 games are helping to improve confidence for next season hugely.

I'm delighted in the way we've turned from being a team that everyone was dying to play and bully, to one that nobody wants to face because we're tough to break down, have a giant (in stature and ability) of a goalkeeper and can, sometimes, hit the goal trail. Praise today for Matty Cash. Knocked over nearly as much as Tomlin but never once stayed down and always fighting for the second ball. COYR!

1.) 12 Mar 2018 00:26:09
Nice post Hog

2.) 12 Mar 2018 09:27:04
We've turner the corner alright. Now to keep the consistency. I don't mind if we draw all the remaining matches.

3.) 12 Mar 2018 09:45:22
Great post hog. One thing I would add is the addition of velios up front removing brereton, Ben has pace but has no ariel attributes, poor decision making etc. Lee Tomlinso is crying out for a clever more streetwise stiker to feed to and off. Murphy looks wooden and unfit so velios to me fits the bill.
So pleased for Fox, we now have a keeper a captain, tenacity and move the ball quicker. Real positive steps!!!

4.) 12 Mar 2018 14:22:57
Rutland. I'm in complete agreement about Vellios. I'm sure he's got something to offer and if only he'd scored a couple in the limited time he's had on the pitch he'd be starting. Having said that the goal against Hull in the cup was well taken and If BB had passed to him with 5 minutes to go at Norwich he'd almost certainly have scored the winner. Oh wait. Perhaps that's why BB DIDN'T pass to him. No, just kidding. Anyway we're safe and I think AK can rotate Ben, Murph and The Apostle for the last 9 games. I'm sure there's another 5 star goal-fest in one of these last few games.

5.) 12 Mar 2018 19:14:02
Went to the Derby game and was pleasantly surprised.
First game of the Aitor era and it was a far cry from anything I’ve seen from us in the last decade.
We were so solid in the midfield to the point that it covered for the limitations of what is a makeshift defence.
Nothing against the back four, they have put in a shift, but only Figueiredo will be anywhere near the starting back line next year.
Was slightly disheartened by the signing of Watson and Colback because of their ages, but there is clearly a gulf in class when compared to our developing youngest.

6.) 12 Mar 2018 19:22:18
Would like to see us get to 60 points but probably 55-58 more likely

7.) 12 Mar 2018 21:23:15
Yep 👍 I agree. albeit I reckon it was the best left back In the world ever who spotted that fox was no left back but could hold his own at centre back.

8.) 12 Mar 2018 22:03:22
I'd forgotten Psycho had Fox in the centre, 2star. Funny that the world's greatest left back and a Galactico left-sided centre half saw him there, but a Cheese connoisseur and a baker boy put him back out on the left.

9.) 13 Mar 2018 20:39:41
Hog
Your two thumbs down will be FF79 and Skegsjay who are getting very bitter and picky in their old age. They like many have forgotten when we last had a decent manager who is trying to do the best for our club before self interest because he has an absolute faith in his own ability which is why he is getting a tune out of the good pro's he has acquired and retained?
Onward and Upward

10.) 13 Mar 2018 21:19:01
Red that's not on.
Said my piece and what makes you right anyway.
So far we have sacked a manager with a 40%win record and replaced him with one who has a 25% win record.
So that's why I'm not going overboard about a manager winning three out of twelve.
Simples as skeggs would say

11.) 13 Mar 2018 21:32:30
FF79

Aitor is not behond having decisions questioned, and nor should he be, but if you are going to make win ratio's it would be only fair to compare both their first games at the club, I'm pretty sure Warburton did not have a 40% win rate in his first games when joining Forest.

12.) 13 Mar 2018 21:44:12
Well Robbo let's see after 37 games who has the best win ratio?
He's played 12 already so 25 to go and in that time will have had two transfer windows.
So would you agree no excuse if there's no improvement?

13.) 14 Mar 2018 12:48:17
FF79

What am I wrong about with my post?
1.The thumbs down were not you and Skegs or
2. Karanka is not a decent manager doing his best for the club?

By the way I'll settle for him achieving the 48% win ratio he got a Boro which is the relevant stat in your nonsense!

14.) 14 Mar 2018 13:23:33
46.8% actually red.
I'll let you know when I put a thumbs down in future,I'm not interested in thumbs up or down and just saying I don't like a certain brand of football played by a lot of managers nowadays Karanka being one of them.
Prefer managers to be versatile in their play not one dimensional.

15.) 14 Mar 2018 19:21:22
Like the versatile Montainier?

16.) 14 Mar 2018 19:27:10
Ff you say a brand of football that you don’t like but what about warbo’s tactics or lack of them?your saying you was happy playing tippy tappy possession football in our own half?this to me doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.warbos football was shocking at times and some of the most boring.whilst warbo was here as were were no1 for the most passes in our own half!
God I love that sort of football!

17.) 14 Mar 2018 21:43:35
FF79,
Forest need to walk before they can run after the nightmares of WMD and Fawaz dismantling the club.
You will be very happy with the winning football under AK next season as he replicates his Boro promotion season scoring 60+ goals and a positive goal difference of 30+!
Cheer up and get behind our leader Victor?

Kapino - Greek Goalkeeper also rumoured to be over here as well as Garrido.

2.) 07 Feb 2018 11:20:35
Our owners Greek club released him, is he a January present from our owner.

3.) 07 Feb 2018 11:22:42
Ha ha, yes hogpuma a well known site that ed03? does not like has him as a Forest player, wonder if AK knows 😁😁😁⚓

4.) 07 Feb 2018 13:05:31
I see olympiokos terminated Hrvoje Millic contract on Sunday,an international left back???
Interesting?

5.) 07 Feb 2018 13:23:03
FF79, i think they had to be free agents before the transfer window?

6.) 07 Feb 2018 13:40:10
So did I.
But maybe that's not the case?
Don't know the exact rule on that,

7.) 07 Feb 2018 17:12:31
Kapino looks like a good acquisition. Only 23 and already has international caps under his belt. It does make you wonder what was the point of getting pantillimon in.

8.) 07 Feb 2018 19:17:43
Kapino having a medical according to Twitter.

9.) 07 Feb 2018 19:27:02
Announced in the morning then.

10.) 07 Feb 2018 20:06:17
Which morning, tell you them roadworks on the M1 are shocking can see the tailback from my bedroom window and markinasis is still trying to find England never mind the Trent to park his yaught 😁😁😁.

11.) 07 Feb 2018 20:40:28
I like the new owners philosophy of "you make one mistake and you're toast" :)

Get to work boys.

12.) 07 Feb 2018 21:05:55
Like it 22 .😂😂

13.) 07 Feb 2018 22:48:41
Looks like marinakas is not a keeper no 22
Pantillimon got caught "short"at the near post on debut?
Looks like he's been "gunning " for Smith then?
Kapino makes a mistake against Athens and lands on our doorstep?
Funny old world

05 Feb 2018 20:29:17
Heckingbottom to Leeds apparently. He signed a new contract LITERALLY a week ago. Be interesting to see how he does at a club nearly as big as Forest.

hogpuma

1.) 05 Feb 2018 21:40:44

Unbelievable! Now Derby -v- Sunderland on Saturday at 7:45pm has also been postponed. Apparently as the game finishes when its dark safety is a concern. Gary Blowitt is quoted as saying "It'll be really dark. Fans could bump into things. There could be foxes and badgers around and even vampires or boogie men. " Derbyshire police tweeted "What? Its the first we've heard about it. " The Club Shop, however, will be open to buy torches, matches, garlic and wooden stakes. DCFC have tweeted a totally black picture to show how bad conditions are at 9:30pm.

Vet funny!!!

4.) 21 Mar 2018 08:55:16
Is this as what we know it as a snowflake generation, wonder if Derby players at their training ground had snowball fights just wondering. I know this will be painful to us all but my memory recalls that once we had a poor result at Derby a few years back when we had a terrible injury crisis and suspensions, you just have to get on with it as we did ,again we lead Derby on behavior .Apparently their are a few bottling plants just down the road at Burton. I am sure they will be making full use of their services once again, regular as clockwork .Mutton dressed as lamb, flatter to deceive.

5.) 21 Mar 2018 19:27:01
Snow ball fights are banned on elf and safety grounds so that won't have happened as they get wrapped up in cotton wool instead.

Would not put it past them to have a floodlight failure if they start to get tonked at home?

31 Jan 2018 20:46:49
Tuesday: Tobias Figueiredo "But I'm not going to know anyone in the dressing room tomorrow. "

30 Jan 2018 22:38:28
"Hey lads. There might be some new players arrive tomorrow so play out of your skins, you could be fighting for your place."
"Nah, we're alright. Can we have our four or five or ten grand for the week now, please? We're only in our twenties and have never had to do an honest days work so we need that money for stuff and tattoos and haircuts and cars. Cheers. Hey, by the way. Where does all this money come from? The fans? Blimey they must have loads to spend if they waste it watching us. Can we have some more then or we might move to Aston Wednesday. My agent says I could."

28 Jan 2018 23:27:08
I think the back page of the Sun has Warnock saying "He's in England now" about that disgusting tackle on Sane that could have shattered his ankle. I don't care how great he is at getting teams up to the Prem, I'm glad we didn't touch this dirty get with a barge pole. Not only is he a thug, he's also thick; last time I looked Cardiff was in Wales

hogpuma

1.) 29 Jan 2018 02:25:08
Politically correct he is not, if he kept his mouth shut and stuck to what he's good at. . sadly, not a cat in hells chance. Old school comes cross as no school.
😐

2.) 29 Jan 2018 05:25:20
I would take warnock all day everyday. You get zero premadonas just grafters team spirit and decent football. Unfortunste tackle made worse by tv close up.

3.) 29 Jan 2018 07:31:01
Rutland. In Karanka you have a manager whose teams have the same ethic plus a manager who has brains and is tactically more aware than the Pantomime Dame!

4.) 29 Jan 2018 09:25:17
Lol rie he has got that look about him now. Yes you have mire knowledge of kRanka thsn I and hope you are right. Certainly frkm what's been said on here that performance on sat will hsve shook him to the bones. I think the tendancies for the bacj 4 to leak goals is preventing the midfield from pushing on and comitting to supporting the lone striker????

5.) 29 Jan 2018 11:47:58
Rutland what midfield?
We havn't got one.they can't tackle and create virtually nothing.

17 Jan 2018 20:33:38
I'd like to know how Paul Lambert has been at Stoke since Monday and he's signed on loan - Wait for it - A left-back who's a Greek international and has "fallen out of favour" at FC Augsburg. Seriously? We couldn't arrange that? Are Augsburg a high-wage club. Can't imagine it. Somewhat miffed at us missing this because we're looking at a Panathaniakos player who may not come to us anyway, allegedly to spite our owner!

hogpuma

1.) 17 Jan 2018 20:42:14
Simple playing in the premier is a bigger pull.
Their dof might have already have been involved in doing the deal,

2.) 17 Jan 2018 20:45:05
Come on karanka sign a decent player come on. Maranakis show me the 💰 😁

3.) 17 Jan 2018 20:52:34
I know their dof may have been involved - so they can sign players during a managerial transition even if we can't - but we should have done this deal before Stoke got a sniff. Greek international left back? Think we missed out.

4.) 17 Jan 2018 20:53:00
Unbelievable Jeff 🤔

5.) 17 Jan 2018 21:10:13
Yeah, Skegs, you're right again. I'm begging us to spend millions on a new left-back when we don't need one! Is there any way we could just direct our posts to you first and you could just make hilarious contrary and insightful quips as we type? Its a loan. They're a thing now. Football has evolved, even if some fans haven't.

6.) 17 Jan 2018 21:12:54
Puma - you aren’t being serious are you?

7.) 17 Jan 2018 21:21:50
Puma why?
They're premier league and on top of it all we don't and won't pay good wages.

8.) 17 Jan 2018 21:25:27

2tone Every post on a banter site is serious. Its from the Latin, Bantus, meaning Intellectual Forum. I'm doing the same as everyone else; posing questions and provoking debate. I love a discussion, but sometimes people miss the point.

10.) 17 Jan 2018 21:45:03
I think we can highjack a deal for a Chilean striker if we’re quick 😂

11.) 17 Jan 2018 21:34:25
I think we should sign messi and loan him to Notts County to some valuable experience

12.) 17 Jan 2018 22:26:46
Bound to be hot stuff?😂😂😂

13.) 17 Jan 2018 22:27:32
sshhh he’s on top of our list especially how he seen us whip is team 😀

14.) 18 Jan 2018 06:50:37
All good here skeggy mate, to be honest I’m disappointed that we are going through the same process again but I did think MW had to go as he just didn’t seem to have the ability to get the best out of players. Although he did have the guts to get the younger players in the team/squad he seemed to then forget about what they offered to the team and tried to get them to do something else, if it carried on he would have destroyed their confidence and ruined players. Fingers crossed that we have got a more balanced man in charge now but there’s only one thing that's guaranteed being a forest fan-it sure is a rough ride!! Hope you’re keeping well pal 👍

15.) 18 Jan 2018 06:54:21
Puma - but you honestly can’t see how stoke in the premiership can get a deal sorted quicker and be a step or three in front of a club like us? That’s without going into the players agent and the actual players ambition??

16.) 18 Jan 2018 10:26:17
It's all Greek to me.

17.) 18 Jan 2018 14:44:59
I don't want rushed signings ak needs to get to know his players first everyone's banging on we need a striker so by your training we should have gone out and spent God knows what on a new one then turns out vellios was the answer all along so money wasted on buying someone no AK you take a bit of time to see what you.have then spend our limited funds

18.) 18 Jan 2018 15:54:59
Who's velios thought he was the bloke who played in our reserves get a bloody decent striker in we ain't doing nothing else and there should be plenty of funds available

I reckon that getting rid of the ball like an unexploded bomb thing is a hangover from Warburton's ridiculous demand that we ALWAYS played out from the back. How many goals did that gift? Remember Hobbs and Jordan v Sheff Weds? That was a turning point for me. It made two pro's look stupid and gave the opposition ANOTHER goal head-start. We don't see that rubbish any more now we have a defender who has played at the highest level in charge. Hmmm.

There's a scenario that looks more and more likely whereby - following Huddersfieldgate last season and "resting" players - those involved get their just desserts. Blackburn should be coming up, Brum could well be going down and, with Palace 2-0 up at home, Huddersfield could be relegated too. If this turns out to be the case PLEASE show Blackburn v Huddersfield next season on Sky Sports, BBC 1 and Netflix! Tasty?

Well you've just contradicted yourself by stating that it doesn't work for Man U and to work you need a £20m striker and two £10m midfielders. In that case can you kindly explain why £75m Lukaku and £85m Pogba etc etc CAN'T seem to get it right? Or do they sometimes get it right but not always? Same goes for the 5 goals against QPR. It worked that afternoon but not against Norwich or Derby. Why? Well because football isn't a science. There's no guaranteed formula, is there. How come Wigan beat Man C? Because they worked out a formula or their players stuck their foot in with more desire and had nothing to lose that day. I think you're overreaching with your theory that 1 up front hardly ever works. We'd all love to see three up front and six goals a game, but that'll never get you out of this league. 21 clean sheets in a season will, because AK's done it before.

Well the competition for places is supposed to mean that when players are given a chance they grab it with both hands. Murphy made a half hearted effort to grab it with a fingernail. Vellios must be desperate to go one better than that cracking shot against Dourby that smacked the post. I think he'll get the first 70 minutes. Another goal of the season, please, Apostle 🕒

Well Bongo, one role - that of a lone striker - is often holding up the ball with your back to the goal. Can you explain when that skill is developed playing out wide? You can't. Sutton is quite right and I don't think anyone used the word evil. Hyperbole isn't helpful. We're safe in all reality so we can afford to bank the odd nil-nil if it means Ben is learning. By the way. Fig and Fox: Who would have picked that brilliant partnership? Oh yeah, Karanka did. I reckon AK knows more than any of us put together. Onwards and Upwards together!
