Ok my reflections on yesterday.
The City Ground was back to its rocking best because the lads put a good shift in. I said before the game that a defeat by 2 goals would be an excellent result because it leaves our goal difference advantage over Burnley and Luton just about intact. City can damage you 5 or 6 nil. That goal difference is like an extra point atm.
It could have been better had Chris Wood not had an off day, but that's what you get when you are obliged to play a £15 million striker in the twilight of his career rather than, say, Haarland at the peak of his career at £60million, supported by Grealish at £100 million, De Bruyne at £55 million Doku at £60 million. I could go on but you get my point. Of course if we hadn't spaffed millions up the wall with Arter, Lingard, Bowler, Kouyate, Turner, Vlach etc etc etc we might be in a market higher than the £15 to £30 million bracket but that's another argument ( plus we might be 4 points better off).
It was great to see Elanga and Aina burn Walker off for pace a few times. I think Englands fastest full backs knees have gone with his serial sha""ging! 😂😂😂😂.

What a way for your "knees to go " though Stokey.

29 Apr 2024 14:23:13
Mine would be knocking together Gazzi mate at the line up he got through! 😂😂😂😂.

29 Apr 2024 16:33:46
If he wasn’t good enough to be a footballer he could have been a cooper!
👮🏼‍♀️👮🏼‍♀️👮🏼‍♀️
CARLO.

29 Apr 2024 16:58:25
Do you mean cooper or copper Carlo. I’m not sure SC was a ladies man mate! 😂😂😂.

29 Apr 2024 18:01:34
If you meant “copper” mate, I can tell you that before amalgamation in the early 1970s Nottinghamshire had 2 entirely separate Police Forces, the County and the City. The County Officers were renowned shag”ers and the City renowned drinkers.
I guess it was just a question of local opportunities, plenty of pubs in the city and plenty of lonely ladies in the countryside! 🤔🤔🤔🙄😇😇.

We gave a good account of ourselves yesterday and made the Man City players look human! Ola Aina was absolutely magnificent (which I've been posting for weeks) and should be first name on the teamsheet. Murrillo also brilliant. Pity Wood reverted to his original standard, not quick enough, not enough movement etc. he had a poor game. As far as Neco goes, I'm fed up with observing it, gives everything but just not good enough and should have put us ahead in the first few minutes - he is part of the problem. If we get Awoniyi back will be more confident and need to sign a striker who offers more than Wood next season. Enjoyed the game but very frustrating again.

29 Apr 2024 12:29:42
His confidence up top is lacking but his effort and quality defending makes up for it. We also don't have anyone better. Boly worth a mention. Elanga just keeps looking like he's going to do something amazing then pffffft.

29 Apr 2024 12:35:24
Aina was excellent on Sunday. Best player on the pitch. He's another one who will be going in the summer, though, like Murillo and MGW. If we stay up we might keep Aina but if we go down he'll definitely be off.

29 Apr 2024 12:40:44
Neco Williams has been brilliant for us this season RHR if you’re looking for a whipping boy mate choose between Sangare and Montiel!

Neco is not part of the problem he’s still young and learning and is part of the solution imo

Aina
Williams
Obamadele
Murrilo

Should be our back 4 next season.

29 Apr 2024 14:03:26
I like neco but his final ball be ut a shot cross or pass is frankly pants.

29 Apr 2024 16:24:45
I reckon Murillo won t be here pal.

29 Apr 2024 08:58:02
So proud of the lads yesterday left the ground thinking we left everything out there

Nuno got the tactics right and team selection apart from I would have played Obamadele instead of Niakhate

On another day if Woods had his shooting boots on we could have claimed all three points never mind a draw

Just hope Neco and Murrilo are ok

You know you've played well when City are blaming the pitch for the fact they didn't play us of the park

UREDS.

Don't want to the wrong thing, but, any mention of VAR, no mention of the ref. If that's the case then all in all, take the result on the chin.

29 Apr 2024 10:57:50
Good ref no VAR.

29 Apr 2024 06:33:25
Well we gave em a game.
Tremendous all round performance
Wily Boly and Aina the stand outs for me.
Sels made at least two cracking saves.
We created really good chances and had City scrambling in defence quite a few times.
It says something when we come away knowing we should have had at least a draw.
Just a thought, would Hudson Odoi be better on the right wing? The times he gets by his man then checks inside. You might lose his goal threat from the right but the amount of crosses would be worth it I think.
It's frustrating when we're not consistent but I honestly think we have the makings of a decent team there. Maybe it's down to the youth and lack of experience in the team.
Keep the faith my fellow Reds
And remember it's Forest we're talking about.
When has it ever been easy 🥴.

29 Apr 2024 07:55:18
I've thought that on few a occasions, Carey, regarding Hudson-Odoi He's easy to defend against just show him outside. Cutting back on his right foot gives the defender time to get back. Against Everton he was found out. He was a steal from Chelsea.

29 Apr 2024 08:47:21
Red I think Odoi has a wand of a right foot and may become a revelation on the right.
He can take people on, has great balance but on the left his right foot is wasted most of the time.
Get by your man and cross it.
Trouble is I’ve been spoilt by a magician called
John Robertson. Overweight, no pace but could he play and he usually ended up having two or three to mark him!

29 Apr 2024 12:31:34
Agree Carey, CHO definitely on the right. Need crosses in from there. Neco can't cross his laces let alone a ball.

28 Apr 2024 22:42:29
Wore my 1960s lucky pants today, obviously didn’t work but how I'm suffering now, they are extra small 😖😖😡🥵

Too tight over the head carlo son 🤔.

29 Apr 2024 06:26:52
Just saw the highlights, Wood's finishing?
🙄🙄🙄
And yes Set Pieces, Corners need sorted, however,
We play anything like we did, we should just about do it.
Some said we would get slaughtered, lose by 3 or 4 by half time etc.
Credit where credits due.

28 Apr 2024 21:49:40
Usual frustrating performance from us today. In that I mean we played really good football, but still came away with a loss. Wood forgot his shooting boots today, and looked pedestrian on two occasions where he had the chance to hit the back of the net.

Murillo again proving he is simply a beast. Probably Aina's best performance today all season. I think we always look more assured when Boly is in defence. But. passing was on occasion sloppy.

And why did we not sub Williams whilst he was still on the floor receiving treatment and before the corner came in? That's baffling.

Tactics were much better today. However I cannot help think why we cannot play like that from the start of the season. I reckon the usual Jekyll and Hyde performance will be resumed in the next game; play decent and then play appallingly bad. Hope I'm wrong.

Just like to give a shout out to boly chim. The lad for me with his height and passion. Just seems to give us that bit extra. And agree aina probably his best game. But as i mentioned sh1tty give us plenty of options on the left. Murrilo has mixed emotions from a lot of reds. For me i luv the lad. One of the only defenders looking for a ball that can change the game from the back. And bye that tackle was just f kn. Pure class. BUT AND A BIG BUT, plays long high balls. We've only got wood to score, rest a joke mgw hang your head for them. To many free kicks etc on goal. As clough reminds us ball was never to be played in the air from back.

29 Apr 2024 06:54:46
It was a brilliant recovery tackle, Bowie. He lost the ball in the first place by trying to play his way out of trouble but more than made up for it with that challenge. I've stated before that we need to enjoy him while we have him. Hopefully, considering the injury, that wasn't his last game for us. Not just yet, anyway. We're going to need him in the last 3 matches.

29 Apr 2024 12:27:15
Bowie: agree mate, re Murillo. Absolute find of the season that lad. 😃.

28 Apr 2024 20:09:40
Missed the live match and listened to Radio 5 Chris Waddle etc in the car. They said how well Forest played and queried how Forest could be lying just above the relegation zone with that quality of football.
Then an unfortunate number of misses made him realise why. The Radio 5 commentators said Forest should easily beat Sheffield United, a maybe against Chelsea and Burnley so we would survive. This was reassuring but not if you have been a fan for a long long long time. Do you think Chris Woods heart is not in the right place if the Club has said he is not wanted after this season?

28 Apr 2024 21:41:19
Doc, I don't have any reservations about Chris Wood mate. He's a genuine pro who just had an off day. Unfortunately it was a bloody big off day.

28 Apr 2024 23:36:23
Ffs doc, I've heard every moan on here, but are we that sad we call out players not wanting to score young man. It's a natural habit for taylors sake. Thought you were into football years. And btw he doesn't take back handers, officials and VAR get them these days. This site just gets f kn worse at times.

29 Apr 2024 07:56:59
Not content with questioning the integrity of the officials it's the players integrity now.

28 Apr 2024 20:08:58
I just couldn't believe the amount of room we were given, on the left side of the pitch. That dicku as lazy as sangare. Never tracked back for them. Had stupid amounts of opportunity's. But when you're relying on one player to score, wood. And he's having a bad spell your effed. Murrilo very unlucky. The one thing for me today, and it's just sad. Was the fact i couldn't complain at the officials. And the game was freeflowing. The lads put a shift in today. Ok stating the obvious why when williams came off to a set piece corner, do you not bring a sub on. Obvious we are sh1t at set pieces and obvious he wasn't coming back on. Reds this is premier and these decisions cannot be ignored. At the money thrown in especially. But I've got to say some of our movements and passion were brilliant, passing, tackles, closing down. 👏 that's all i want against the best. We give it a go. And thank you for the encouragement for our last games.

Agree5 Disagree0

28 Apr 2024 22:25:32
Totally agree Bowie, sit down and stay down on the pitch till a sub comes on
Nieve management.

28 Apr 2024 23:21:25
I thought we were great today Bowie. Passion displayed, at long last.

28 Apr 2024 23:49:30
Agreed totally legless, 👍 was going to say unlucky. But it wasn't. We create our own wrong doings.

29 Apr 2024 12:35:43
Agree Bowie. How the EF do you not stay down and waste time or have a sub on for a set piece. Only thought is that they thought he would run it off? Still diabolical, especially if we had scored a goal.

28 Apr 2024 20:00:23
So much better from Forest than we have seen for most of the season. To play one of the top clubs in the world and look a better side for significant parts of the game I think is amazing! Despite the defeat, I actually feel very proud of that performance. Shame we couldn't finish from some great moves, but I now have some hope that if we play with the same passion for the remaining fixtures we'll be OK. Happy and hopeful Legless tonight!

If Wood had have had his shooting boots on we could have and should have a draw out of that.

Good effort, sadly another defeat. But the manner of the defeat, against perhaps the best team in world football wasn’t an embarrassment.
Trouble is I doubt we will play as well against Sheffield United. And therein lies the problem.

Again end with a negative the usual with you redfrog don't go into hiding next week when we win big piece of pie waiting for you again 😁.

29 Apr 2024 06:55:10
I’m sure I will be reminding you of your post Skegs after the Sheffield game. Sounds like you think we have already won it- all pressure will be off them because they are already down. The expectation and onus will be on us. Nuno dispiriting santo won’t save you from egg on your face 🤣🍳.

29 Apr 2024 11:09:36
4 nil the reds ureddddssss 😁.

28 Apr 2024 19:25:31
Was nice to hear Ian Bomber Bowyer interview before the match. wondered what he would think about City's wingeing about the dry pitch. was there a big umbrella over the ground all morning!

I believe Aina was very good today. even outpacing Kyle Walker!

28 Apr 2024 21:41:07
Aina cracking game rogie shows you why Nuno played 3 at the back.

28 Apr 2024 18:33:09
Well done for the effort there Reds.
