Seems like everything for next season hangs on who we can retain, who leaves and who we bring in. Bearing in mind that whoever we buy has to be Premier League quality, it looks like a daunting task.
We also have to balance the books which means selling for big money.
A further problem is continuity as we need as much of an established nucleus as possible.
My thoughts are this for a starting side:
Sels
Williams Malenkovic Cunha Aina
Sangare Domingues/ Yates
Hutchinson Wood Jesus Bakwa
Defence could still have Morato, Savona and Netz.
Midfield has McAtee.
Attack stiil have CHO and Awoniyi.
If we sell Anderson, MGW and Murillo we will need another creative midfielder, possibly a DM and another Prem Quality Striker.
I's going to be a balancing act, but we don't want another huge influx of people who won't make it in this league.
I'm looking for mid table 10-14th.
What think ye comrades?
13 May 2026 17:27:11
Good luck finding a quality striker in the Premier, bud. Especially on our legal coffers.
13 May 2026 19:25:03
I agree with most of that analysis, Bse, mate. I've always said our squad (well, the first 17 or 18) is, properly led, coached and organised, at least mid table Prem quality. That is where they will finish roughly, but lower mid table rather than mid or upper, because of the change of managers and instability. It's no coincidence we haven't lost in the last 8 games under Vitor Pereira.
But, minus MGW, Ando and Murillo (and Woody injured for long periods, like last season), we will struggle without quality replacements.
Bear in mind Murillo was a freak signing, and Ando came because of Newcastle's FFP indiscretions.
It won't be easy, as you say, Bowie, particularly with Prem quality strikers.
13 May 2026 23:33:04
Stokey
Inspector Clussoe could tell that it's hard to find Premier, i.e. world-class strikers for the Prem, ask Chelsea and Liverpool who've thought they'd bought the best.
To me, we have 3 very good strikers now in Awoniyi, Wood and Jesus, and Kalimuendo we don't know yet.
We keep scoring under Vitor anyway.
To me, we need a right back and winger as it stands right now, but Bakwa is showing signs so not that much needed.
Sangare has come into his own now and no Europe makes less demand on the squad next season.
14 May 2026 14:18:02
Yes, I agree about the difficulties of signing a quality Premier League striker, mate. As I've posted before, they are as rare as rocking horse. π©
The 3 you mention might do the job. Taiwo was showing good signs late in the season. Woody is carrying (or "managing") an injury and not getting any younger, and Jesus is best behind the big front man.

A discussion point here chaps and chappettes, regarding this so called 'spygate' at Middlesborough!
If it's true, that Southampton were party and in full knowledge of this alleged spying, what punishment do you dish out? Will the EFL use the new rule? Will they punish the guilty?
The players wouldn't have known, the Saints supporters wouldn't have known either?
Thoughts?
13 May 2026 15:01:44
I'd punish them by sending them to spy on a Steve Cooper training session & when they had slipped into a coma, drop em off in John O Groats with strict instructions to walk back to Southampton. π
13 May 2026 15:06:25
I'd send them to see if you really are a Forest Supporter, mate!!!

13 May 2026 16:36:58
Oh dear, Larry!
Of course I'm a true Forest fan. Are you?
How would you like to be watching Forest play Southampton, if it's proved the Saints are cheats?
13 May 2026 16:38:59
Rogie's name missing from my last post!
Is Rogie a Forest fan?
13 May 2026 17:02:35
1000%!!!
13 May 2026 17:19:05
I see SC is still living rent free in your head, Larry. ππππππ
13 May 2026 18:31:13
What was that song from Aerosmith? Living something? Oh yeah i remember. It goes.
"There's something wrong with the world today
I don't know what it is
Something's wrong with our eyes
We're seeing things in a different way
And God knows it ain't his
It sure ain't no surprise, yeah
Living in your head"

Balloons knows one hell of a lot about the game, Winter. Always looked up to him, along with dtp, actually. Just saying, bud.
13 May 2026 23:33:07
Does posting lyrics question anyone's football knowledge? I really don't think so, 'living in your head' reminded me of 'living on the edge', which, by the way, is a brilliant song. Trying to think of a song that goes along with 'the day banter died'. π³
14 May 2026 00:25:17
Erm, the day the banter died. Bye bye Mr Hartlepool Man. Swapped the swapped the good life for the lavvy, but the lavvy was dry, and good old Bowie, drinking vodka and wine, singing "This will be the day that I die." This will be the day that I die.
14 May 2026 03:16:32
Good effort, I was thinking....
"Stepping through the door with the night in store
Whiling just an hour away
Step into the sky in the star bright
Feeling it's a brighter day
You and I should ride the coast
And wind up in our favorite coats just miles away
Roll a number, write another song
Like Jimmy heard the day he banter died
Oh-oh, la-la" bit of Ocean Colour Scene.

Don't these journalists pee you off with their pathetic rumour mongering. The season is not even over and they are touting Marco Silva to take over at Forest. They thrive on causing unrest among clubs in an effort to sell their grubby papers. I think I speak for the vast majority of Reds fans when I say we don't need Silva because we now have an excellent manager in Vitor Pereira.
The job he did for Forest was nothing short of brilliant and he deserves huge credit. So to these fantasy publications, go find another club to plant your so-called news to. We will be just fine next season. U REDS.
13 May 2026 12:29:44
He was always coming to Nottingham Forest. Mr M cant help himself. Vitor Pereira needs to be given at least a season.
13 May 2026 12:41:04
Mr M probably has nothing better to spend his money on, so paying off managers is his way! He'd be better off keeping VP, and asking VP who he wants in the squad for next season! I then suggest Mr M brings someone new in to help sign the players VP wants, and I stress NOT EDU.
He had his chance, and we came close to relegation! COYR.
13 May 2026 12:58:57
Pedro Fierra is head of recruitment and is still with us. Doubt that will change.
13 May 2026 16:52:00
My view is, it doesn't matter what we think. The Owner will have already decided who he wants long ago. Prepare for anything to happen.

Thinking ahead to new players who I would go for should MGW and Murillo leave. Should MGW get in the National side which he absolutely deserves, other clubs might realise what an asset he is. Harvey Elliot canβt even get in the Aston Villa team so I am sure he could be signed for < 30 m. For Murillo I would sign Jarell Quansa. Both these players were in the same team as Hutchison and McAtee that won the under 21 Euros.
All these players are 23 and I think if VP gets them under his wing, they will do well. We have seen the potential talent in Hutchison and McAtee and next season we will get consistency. Elliot and Quansa may be tempted to come because of their ex 21 team mates.
12 May 2026 21:11:53
I'd go for Summerville from West Ham when they go down, fit in perfectly.
All be down to who leaves, but I imagine we have targets in mind already.
World Cup will cause problems getting transfers done, though, and any we sign who are involved won't get a real chance of preseason knockabouts.
12 May 2026 21:20:46
I like Sommerville as well, mate...
"Smalltown Boy" was a classic!!!.

Jimmy Summerville was with Bronski Beat and The Communards.

12 May 2026 15:13:21
I'm not sure why any team would run the risk of playing out from the back, most of the time it turns into a goal for the opposition! Look at Woody's goal at Sundeland!!
By the way chaps and chappettes, it was great to see James Maddison back playing football after a year out! He did live in Ruddington, so welcome back to football James!
12 May 2026 19:56:56
Don't care anything about the Leicester reject. Spurs fans saying he's a massive miss, but Ange barely played him n they tried to sign MGW who plays in the same position as him.
Love it if Spurs went down, but there'll be some controversial decision to keep them up, likewise with Arsenal winning the league.
13 May 2026 05:05:22
Not a great fan of Maddison personally, seems a bit full of himself.
Each to their own, mate.
13 May 2026 07:08:06
Nor me, Rogie.
Who cares where he lived!

Just watching Leeds at Spurs, they keep playing out from the keeper and they must be losing possession or struggling to clear most times, why risk it....Glad VT not an advocate...
11 May 2026 22:38:24
Spurs are still in this big time. Think Chelsea will beat them.
If they need something on the final day at home to Everton, the pressure will be on big time.
Lovely watching these London clubs battle it out for the pleasure of staying in the Prem.
Schadenfreude.
12 May 2026 13:08:35
Schadenfreude? Are they from the Bundesliga Forest? ππ
12 May 2026 17:04:07
Schadenfreude. It is a German word that has no literal translation in any other language.
It means "Laughing at other people's misfortune."

12 May 2026 17:43:59
I know, Forest! I was just trying to get a witty gag in, mate. My first wife was a German speaker, and I've spent a lot of time over there... a great country, and very civilised.
12 May 2026 19:09:48
Never been.
Was kind of hoping we might get Stuttgart, an excuse to give it a go. Can't complain, as Porto was brilliant, though I have been to Portugal many times.
Who knows, this time next year, with a bit of luck and some sound decisions, we may be looking towards another European run.
12 May 2026 19:33:35
We can but hope, Forest. Key for me is not going mad in the transfer market, buying quantity not quality. No more gluts of 9 or 10 new faces to assimilate in pre season. Definitely no procession of managers.
4 new quality signings max to replace Murillo, MGW and Ando. Then a big centre forward, as Woody isn't getting any younger.
Stability at all times, and cherish VP. He's highly competent and knows what he's doing!
12 May 2026 20:51:40
I am hoping that we don't lose all 3.
They are all under contract, so no immediate pressure. Don't think Mr M will let that happen.
1 big fee, and it keeps us onside with finances.
Spot on about quality over quantity.
Plus, next year Netz, Cunha and possibly McAtee step up and join the party.
Hope Ndoye has a great World Cup for Switzerland, so we can get our money back. Hasn't worked out for him. What is it with Forest and these Swiss internationals.
15 May 2026 13:51:06
I don't think contracts are binding these days, mate. The length of contract merely adds to the transfer fee. If a player wants to go, there's not much the club can do, post Bosman.
11 May 2026 19:44:09
If they go down, looking likely. I'd love Jarrod Bowen.
Obviously his father in law wouldn't be happy with him at any other London club.
Oi expensive but brings a lot to the game for me.
11 May 2026 20:02:59
I've always liked Bowen, mate. Talented and a grafter. He always tore us to bits on his Hull City days in the Championship.
11 May 2026 20:43:33
Hey 2 Stars, Bet you're glad we stayed up in the end, mate.
You were convinced we were going down... and who could blame you?
Seriously, mate, I'm glad we turned it around.
Always value your take on all things Forest, mate.
Better recruitment, is the key, as we all know.
11 May 2026 20:46:35
I'd have him too... Absolute dynamo.
11 May 2026 20:47:08
All rounder, Stokey, bud. And can take a decent corner, which we've so wanted. Free kicks, etc. Gets stuck in. All I want in a player. And knows the onion bag, where it is.
11 May 2026 20:47:22
Oh! Before I forget Skeggs!!!!

An incredible turnaround, mate - brilliant from VP. The club felt broken, mate, but he's turned it around and picked up results I didn't think possible.
I hope we can just have a couple of boring mid table seasons now, we've spent 75% of our Premier League life fighting the drop.
Probability says if you're constantly down there, you'll succumb to it eventually. I'll be happy if we have a couple of quiet seasons - great to be embarking on our 5th straight season in the Premier League, isn't it, pal?
12 May 2026 05:35:02
