My reflections on the game: I said before the start I was not optimistic. We were very slow to start. Lots of missed opportunities and we were outdone again by a set piece.
OG, like many managers, subs at the wrong time. Aina and Williams should have come off after 70 mins, as they were tired out. Wood has had it for me, so we defo need a proper striker up there with some pace. Cunha made too many mistakes, so we need Diamonde in the back three. Either Schlager or Murillo should have taken our last gasp free kick, not MGW.


Easy to say afterwards, I know. Two of the three teams who came up won today so we are already at the base of the table.
I think OG's structure can do well at Forest, but it will take quite a long time before it beds in and we have the players (in the right positions) to make it work.
Tweak the team a bit and we can beat them in the Carabao Cup match.
Disappointing today but not
unexpected.

To play that system, you need a fair number of good WBs. It burns through them, and they can't realistically do 100 mins very often.

Jesus was played out of position. He should play behind the striker. We haven't got a striker. Jesus is a good player, and will score us goals. You can't keep assessing players unless the team knows the system, and we have the right player in the system. Don't write good footballers off.

Schlager should have played there and McAtee at 10. Ndoye had a shocker and Netz should have started at LEB and Williams at RwB plus need a number 9.

Spot on with Williams and Ainia. Both are full backs, not wing backs. Ainia was certainly the better of the two today. Jesus cannot seem to be able to hold up the ball, and cannot run with it. Ndoye seems no different to last season. In the first half, we had no shots on goal. McAtee got going mid first half, but I agree he would be better further forward.

Netz and Schlanger were no improvements.
Sels made one world class save and then didn't cover his near post. I don't think Anderson's presence would have changed the result. 3 at the back, to my mind, is a defensive set up we would use against Liverpool but not Leeds.
The referee seemed to blow in Leeds' favour a lot more than Forest.

I completely disagree about Williams. He has played that position well before and can play it. He just had a bad game. It happens.

Much more worried about number 9, if Wood has lost his spark or isn't going to be fit.

Even at fullback, Williams is involved in a lot of our attacks.
Very rarely does anything come of them, as he seems to have a brain fart once he's in the box.

His heart, stamina and commitment cannot be questioned.

I had a bad feeling about today! We need a striker and midfielder, but why the team selection? Wood is fit, so should start.

And why bring in Schlager and not play him from the start with Sangare? And why, oh why, spend £35m on a defender and put him on the bench!

I keep hearing worry about where our goals will come from. Our team, if you look at each player, is more than capable if they are used right and they perform, same as any other team. Wood is capable of 15+, Jesus 15+, MGW 10+, CHO 5-10, Ndoye 10+. Our backs can easily chip in 15+ this season. All these players have achieved those stats at one time or another, and most of them recently, albeit not all at the same time in the Premier League.

I have faith in what we have, and don't know if buying a striker for 40-50, who is probably going to be 2nd choice or replaced if something better comes along in the near future, makes sense.

Wow, the West Brom player who scored on opening day at Norwich, by using his arm to put the ball in the net, is banned for two games! Well done EFL! But why are WBA questioning this when it was deliberate cheating by the player? We have VAR that supported Forest at United last season - but the ref chose to allow the goal despite the obvious handball.

Yeah, I saw that, Keeff. Harsh, imo. As you say, why hasn't the ref been sanctioned? I saw the goal on the highlights, and at the time, I thought it was a pretty obvious mistake by the officials, yet the goal stood.

I've done it myself. As a forward, if a ball bounces awkwardly, using a hand to poke it in is second nature. Two-match ban? They are having a laugh, I hope it's appealed. ?
