Yesterday evening was probably the most one sided World Cup semi final I’ve ever watched. I’m surprised it finished only 2 nil, such was Spain’s dominance.
The French team looked as if they’d never met before, disjointed, missing their passing, no shots on target until near the end, Mbappe largely anonymous, out muscled all over the pitch.
Even the usually inspirational Deschamps sat down in his dug out for the last 25 minutes, muttering and baffled about what he was seeing and unable to do anything about it.
As has been mentioned on here, every side has a collapse in them, even the best and, let’s be fair, the French always have a capitulation in them as we know from history ….

As it was Bastille Day as well, it must have been particularly “Gaul ing” (you see what I did there) ?????.
As a footnote to Barry and Titchmarsh, I decided (quite reasonably I thought) to watch the game between the 2 best teams in the World rather than spend it posting.
I did, however, note this morning that you managed between you, to mention my name in vain on no fewer than 9 occasions during the course of the match.
Including dehydration breaks, the half time interval and injury time this is about once every 12 minutes.
May I take this opportunity to offer my deepest appreciation to you both for allowing me to live rent free in your heads………. ???.

Stokey, I don't know why people are surprised at Spain beating France. France have looked ok against mediocre opposition. Spain are the first top side they've run into, and it showed. Reigning European champions prove their worth.

Stevie, I wasn't so much surprised at the result, just how big the gap was between the sides currently ranked 1st and 2nd in the world, mate.
I suppose the way this tournament has been seeded, Spain have only really played 2nd or 3rd ranked teams up to now, like Austria and Portugal.

Apart from their draw at minnows Cape Verde first up, they have seemed comfortable, like France.
