Worrying reports tonight that the Premier League are looking at us over financial fair play. Shame given some of the dross we have paid out for -I know we sold Johnson but it could be a serious matter for us.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Jan 2024 06:51:49
They may stop us getting anymore players, which is not such a bad thing?.

03 Jan 2024 07:54:37
The Premier League will take Chelsea's and City's points deduction and give it to us and the Toffee's.

03 Jan 2024 09:29:07
Could effect a potential Navas loan?

03 Jan 2024 11:54:34
The PL is looking at everyone, it's the annual check of club accounts and we (and every other club) will find out if we've been good boys or not on 14th January. It's only the press that are targetting Forest as 'most likely', no the PL.

03 Jan 2024 14:08:01
I think we'll probably be OK:-

A few points.

We spent around 85m on wages last season; this excludes any income we received from players going out on loan.

Our liability on amortised transfer fees for last season was around 50m, you can add another 5m on top of that for loan fees.

That comes to around 140m

Our earnings from the PL will be a minimum of 114m

Our earnings from gate receipts will be around 30m, with another couple of million for the cup run.

We should have cleared another 5m from commercial rights and another 2m for additional corporate earnings.

I would guess that our earnings will be at least 150m - that would give a 30m margin of error - 10m plus the 20m we are allowed to lose

The Premier League allows any losses directly caused by the c.v. to be discounted from FFP calculations. Forest have previously said that the adverse impact of c.v. was £16.7million across 2019-20 and 2020-21.

Where we do have a problem is promotion bonuses for the year we went up. We didn't budget for these, so probably went outside the limit that season. Will we be sanctioned for that? If so, I'd say it is unlikely to be a 10 point deduction effectively for getting promoted unexpectedly.

03 Jan 2024 15:10:47
Interesting analysis RC. I've read that our championship losses used up our 'allowance'. £13 million per season and £35 million for first PL season, we overspent by £61 million before promotion.
Crux will be, what have we spent and generated in our first season back?
It would appear we're not allowed any losses, so BJ sale could be crucial. I like Forest in the news but prefer if it was footballing issues.

03 Jan 2024 22:31:21
Brennan Johnson transfer fee was 'pure profit'. Which apparently is quite important when factored into FFP. Not totally sure, though, as I've not really looked into that side of it all.

04 Jan 2024 08:44:55
Accounts for 2022/ 23 ended June, Johnson was sold in September so won't be included in the accounts.

Forest will argue they kept him beyond June to claim an extra £10m+ on his transfer fee.

Think it's going to be tight. Hopefully Big M has a few contacts.

04 Jan 2024 16:48:39
Steve, the big man does have contacts but unfortunately they’re all in Greece mate! ??.

08 Jan 2024 17:07:18
Eric Dier offered to Forest on loan apparently. sounds like rubbish to me!

01 Jan 2024 20:35:13
Another rumour for you lads.
I've heard that we are about to sign Fabio Carvalho from Liverpool. Heard this before they recalled him early from his loan yesterday. We shall see. Also Kaylor Navas might be back between the sticks if true.

02 Jan 2024 12:40:38
We've had enough Carvalho to last us a life time Perko ??.

01 Jan 2024 18:53:25
Nottingham Forest have opened talks to re-sign Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

01 Jan 2024 20:11:28
Yep, "sources have told football insider! "

31 Dec 2023 18:00:16
Another rumour! "Tottenham Hotspur "watched" Nottingham Forest forward Morgan Gibbs-White during the thrilling victory over Manchester United at the City Ground. "

Hope they have £150M down the back of the sofa or they won't get far IMO.

It's not long for the vultures start circling when a player starts showing some form. It will depend if MGW wants to sit on the bench or start every week, and if Nottingham Forest wants the money for him?.

28 Dec 2023 10:33:37
Gelson Martins a 28 yr old injury prone Portuguese right winger who hasn't played for Monaco all season!

Wanted by Nuno or a Mendes pick like Gil Dias!

Hopefully the former.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Dec 2023 11:17:30
I’d be surprised if it was a Nuno pick Munmad. Different coach same old owner interference I think. ??.

28 Dec 2023 12:30:07
Nuno has already said he wants to manage a small squad. If we get this player he will go out on loan and never put on a Forest jersey!.

28 Dec 2023 14:02:56
Although the NEP report does say Nuno was interested in him during his Wolves days? ??.

31 Dec 2023 11:08:50
He doesn't look a good bet to come in and make a difference. Have to hope we can do better in rest of the month.

31 Dec 2023 16:24:31
We never seem to get a decent player from Portugal. Dunno why. Maybe we are jinxed?

01 Jan 2024 11:17:57
Apparently Carvallo from Liverpool was at the man utd game, could be it's because he's mates with Elanga, Liverpool wants guaranteed game time for him and the moment, only two teams showing interest is Southampton and fester!.

26 Dec 2023 20:33:35
Cooper to Man U then?

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Dec 2023 08:57:31
Lol you’d have to be mad to appoint cooper at a prem club. He struggled with us and had no identity or proven ability at this level. Championship with a mediocre club is his level.

27 Dec 2023 11:45:58
I suspect Cooper will take over at Crystal Palace with Roy moving up into a Director of Football type role. He will do very well, gain experience and go on to great things ….

27 Dec 2023 15:11:50
Yes stokey, can’t see any chance of him going to Utd.

27 Dec 2023 15:14:37
He took a team, bottom of the championship to win promotion in his first season, then kept them in them in the Prem in this first season, I salute you Sir.

Talk about showing no respect, a bit like slagging off of Samba and Awoniyi relentlessly, just so ironic?.

Apart from 2 games I can think of, Woods has been utter garbage for the best part of a year but was just what we needed apparently when he signed according to someone:)

I do really hope he can continue yesterday's form though, especially the 2nd 2 goals were utter class finishes, well done Chris. ?.

27 Dec 2023 15:56:16
I don’t reckon he’s quite ready for Utd yet pal, do you see him as a future england manager? I definitely do. I hope we can create an atmosphere in the cg that’s as nerve tingling as it has been, part of me thinks it was just a moment in time and belongs exclusively to cooper.

Anyhow mate he will not be out of work for long - i guarantee you.

27 Dec 2023 17:10:22
It was said with a very large tongue in cheek when Man Utd were losing 0-2 at the time,

02 Jan 2024 12:46:47
Warlock did it about 7 times Ginger but failed at the next level every time. People just need to let it go with Cooper he's a championship manager, nothing more. Let's all move on and debate the future ?.

24 Dec 2023 12:29:46
Looks like nuno could be going to bring a keeper he knows Jose sa could be a good fit.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 Dec 2023 17:47:48
Hope so Skegs but why would Sa leave Wolves for us mate?

26 Dec 2023 09:51:19
We are heading for Europa Conference that's why.

26 Dec 2023 14:49:55
?????.

22 Dec 2023 14:36:13
JOTA now tipped to be Nunos first signing. The 24 year old Portuguese foward (The former Celtic player, not the Liverpool one) is currently at Nunos former club Al-Ittihad. Since his transfer from Celtic, he was left out of the club's domestic squad, with rules permitting only eight foreign players per club. Al-Ittihad had too many within their ranks, so Jota was left on the sidelines.

21 Dec 2023 14:36:02
Looks like Scarpa been sold for 5 million euros to some Brazilian club.

Agree3 Disagree0

23 Dec 2023 16:04:19
Yeh my Brazilian team here Atletico. Forest's loss is our gain. We are very excited about next season now.

23 Dec 2023 16:04:39
He's a great player.

28 Dec 2023 10:38:45
I would be interested in how he does back in Brazil, BRAZILWILL, such a shame for him here wrong manager wrong time.

21 Dec 2023 11:18:06
I don't usually pay much credence to the comments of Jamie Carragher aka Spit the Punk Dog, but the NEP s reported conversation between him and SC is very interesting and worth a read. It's a good summation of SCs "nightmare"situation under Marinkinakos ( and presumably that situation will be continued under Nunez).
It would appear that SC had no idea of what players ( and in what numbers) would be arriving at the club, despite his oft repeated mantra that he, the owner and the recruitment team were all supposedly "reading off the same page"?
It might be a rare glimpse behind the scenes at our beloved club before the media gag is imposed as part of the terms of SCs payoff.

Agree3 Disagree0

21 Dec 2023 12:21:52
Tough to see SC go and we have to remain positive about Nuno. Did a great job with Wolves so just got to see how the City ground welcomes him saturday.

Transfers wise, realistically, we sell McKenna and Worrall unless they are given a chance by Nuno. I think we cancel the loans for Montiel, Tavares, santos and origi - they have offered us nothing all season.

Maybe sell Boly as he hates Nuno from their time at wolves and maybe sell Felipe due to injuries (hard for me to say this) but he's a strong leader in the group.

We sign Nino from Fluminense (centre half linked with) and get Omobamidele involved more with 1st team squad

The midfield is sound and we cover - Yates and Mangala start.

We buy another winger who has PL experience to compete with Hudson-Odoi and Elanga (Sancho on loan but doubt that will happen! ) and then we buy a striker. Maybe try and get the lad Serhou Guirassy from Stuttgart for 17.5m release clause but he may go elsewhere. Keep Wood as a last minute backup ready for Awoniyi.

21 Dec 2023 14:12:18
I don't get why we keep going on about players coming in are not the managers choice, it been like that for years now thier is not one manager out their that has control over the players that come in.

A manager years ago would go and scout the player themselves and go back to the owner or chairman and say who they wanted, however we don't have managers anymore they are HEAD COACH who are just told to train the players and its done to the director or football who we bring in, and it's also a lot to do with agents who in my opinion have spoilt the game.

21 Dec 2023 15:14:21
Lower BC, that’s why we willl never attract any great coaches. Can you imagine Klopp, Pep or Arteta putting up with the interference like SC has had to? Hence, the merry go round of new appointments.

21 Dec 2023 18:12:51
Do you really think they have that much say on who comes in aswell, good example kelvin Philips great prospect went to man city and has sat on the bench, he was not peps choice of player and it shows pep didn't want him, arteta never wanted ramesdale his first choice was alway raya.

We won't attract no big coach at the moment due to not finishing high enough in the league and no European football.

Who is a top class coach you would like to see though being our head coach, for me I would like Marco rose.

{Ed001's Note - neither of those examples are true, both Pep and Arteta have full control of recruitment.}

21 Dec 2023 19:40:32
Thought so Ed1. What’s the recruitment agreement at Liverpool with Klopp?

{Ed001's Note - he has final say.}

19 Dec 2023 13:36:24
Nuno Espírito Santo is on his way to England right now — as he’s set to sign as new Nottingham Forest head coach. ?

Agreement imminent, he will replace Steve Copper if all goes to plan.

19 Dec 2023 19:14:40
Great. So we spend millions on crap, bring in 40 odd players, get rid of the nucleus that got us promoted and expect the manager to repeat the miracles that got us promotion. The new tools ain’t no good but that’s all the manager has to work with. The going gets tough, the owners offspring meddles too much, results don’t improve, so the bloated one decides to pull the rug from under the one man who has unified our club and got us back to the promised land. He will then be replaced by a bearded gooch who has failed abysmally at his last two clubs. But he is a free agent because he got the sack. Known for playing boring defensive football and is clueless, but he’ll do won’t he? And now the ones who never go to matches so don’t witness the euphoria and atmosphere inside the ground are overjoyed and considering skinny dipping in the murky waters of the Lincolnshire Sea. Well crack on and look forward to championship football next season with a massive underperforming squad. Downward spiral here we come.

20 Dec 2023 10:23:46
I agree completely, we will be in free fall - championship - League 1.

20 Dec 2023 15:55:06
I am not total happy about SC being sacked and I am not one of those that wanted him to go, I belived while we were out of the relegation zone he should have been given more time.

You go on about boring football defensive football and to be fair that's all I have seen at times is us sitting back and counter attacking inviting pressure from teams special when we go 1 up, we have played some great football under SC when we have attacked teams like when we played villa attacked them got a great result play Luton go 2 up and then sit back and make 3 stupid subs.

If we had won against the teams like Luton, Burnley maybe SC would still be in charged, however this season in my opinion he has a better squad than last season we should be getting better results.

Nuno is not the most inspiring appointment, however i will miss SC just like most people but I will get behind the new manager and support the reds, to say we are going to be playing championship football next season is a joke we will stay as the others are worse than us.

Nuno other than the last 2 jobs he has had he did do very well where he has been got wolves up and 2 top 7 finishes and European football, he won the Saudi league and yes he had some poor results at the start of the following season however he was sack more to do with the falling out with Benzema who is there star signing another player who thinks he's better than everyone else and can do what he wants and does not want to listen to his boss.

Who ever came in after SC is always going to be under pressure due to what SC has done for our great team, just like when fergie left utd. I won't BC because FC did a great job with us but big Ron was sh1t.

Happy Christmas 3pts in the bag on Saturday and he will start with a bang 4-0 COYR and everyone will be happy.

25 Dec 2023 10:04:10
Perko. Absolutely brilliant post mate.

18 Dec 2023 19:56:33
According to Fabrizio Romano Forest are in contact with Nuno Espirito Santo as new Head coach in case they decide to fire Steve Cooper.

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Dec 2023 06:47:11
Heard that Fred, did okay with Wolves but was a flop with Spurs. Has experience in the Prem but is he any better than Cooper?

16 Dec 2023 08:04:35
SC isn’t t told who to pick but I can assure you he is definitely told who not to pick.
No top bloke will accept this so we will end up with some no mark yes man again.
CARLO.
