If you think over the last few years the players that have had any value to us have come through the academy. Money in from brereton and burke and the young lad last year aphia? .
The players that have played regularly and been most consistant have come through the academy. Lewis being an astute purchase. My point is they are all british. Some on here rave about brice samba. Still flawed on crosses and is casual and flat footed. Sow is braindead and always injured. I am not saying we should field a team of youngsters but if you look st their contribution and stock value then its patently obvious even to stevie wonder that our scouting or dof is failing and failing spectacularly. We have wasted the money from selling players and continue to squander valuable funds on a recruitment policy of miserable failure year on year. Any analysis would hightlight this catastrophy. I really do despair at the repetion of mistakes at such a high level. I don't like marinakis or his ilke, bullies and tyrants and full of bs. No wonder controvesy and doubt follow him like a bad smell. To repeat a mistake is folly to do it continuously is beyond careless and massive stupidity.

It’s difficult to argue with that .
Is diakhby better than Mighten of appiah?
Have all the failed strikers done any better than Brereton? All we’ve done is sold players to sign the biggest load of garbage ever .

Diakhby, Silva, Semedo, da Costa, bong, bostock all dreadful signings .

2.) 08 Aug 2020 18:38:57
Silva and Bostock have ability, and Bostock not used properly at all.

3.) 08 Aug 2020 19:25:02
You see 2star if one is serious about promotion you narrow the odds by making good decisions. Good manager, warnock. Back him and his judgement. You can buy success but its best to follow a successful template and not keep going down a dead end road. Marinakis nearly made a good decision in oneil but bottled it because martin wanted to make good decisions in line with the remit handed him. I don't think this bunch of clowns are actually serious about progressing the club. Something stinks and and why marinakis bought the club is bewildering. For with his supposed wealth getting the job done should be a lot more convincing and developed than it currently sits right now.

4.) 08 Aug 2020 20:08:30
Good Points Rutland.
But Lamouchi is a coach and not a manager so the Players are chosen by a bunch of clowns.
This animgo character doesn't know his backside from his elbow.
The vast majority of transfers have been a joke.
Direakby is useless Costa another headless chicken and bong a waste of time.
Marinakis won't learn by expecting a bunch of imports to fill places when proven quality players are needed.
No doubt forest will be scraping the barrel when it comes to transfers.
He will roll the dice and play forest like a roulette wheel gambling on players.
To say he's an astute business with a rather successful greek football team he has no clue when it comes to Forest.
How long will he tolerate failure before he gets bored sells up by not achieving his ultimate goal?

5.) 08 Aug 2020 20:52:31
Agreed fawaz. When you have money and lots if it then good decisions are easy to make. When you are poor every decision you make and every penny you spend is crucial. So how can markinakis get it so wrong so easily? Please do not compare running a greek football club on the back of being a shipping magnate to doing business in this football world. You cannot buy minds. I am so confused with the cheap market he shops in and questionable agents he associates with. Their is a LIE going on trentside and our great club should be treated with more respect, its herritage is above these conmen from abroad.

6.) 08 Aug 2020 21:19:57
Rutland, I’d have offered an alternative view this time last year, not anymore, we’re being ran by a bunch of imposters again, sad but true .

7.) 08 Aug 2020 21:27:05
Bs, I don’t know enough about Bostock but plenty say he’s decent, so who’s to blame for another decent footballer coming here and being sidelined, it’s a regular occurrence.

Regarding silva, sorry matey, I can’t see your point of view on this one . He’s complete garbage and I can’t take to a midfielder who’s set pieces fail to beat the first man 90% of the time, can’t run and can’t tackle . Osborn could have played that role far more effectively, I just don’t get why he was signed at all.

4 times I chucked the towel in at home before film time because I simply could not bear watching silva waste any more dead balls in a game . He’s rubbish mate .

8.) 09 Aug 2020 00:33:51
2star: I've always felt his dead ball skills were poor except for one free kick, but the lad had a good turn and could pass well at times; asking the smallest bloke in the side to be a defensive midfielder as well was asking too much of him.

9.) 09 Aug 2020 05:53:36
For sure, I know it sounds like I’m knocking the player but I’m more knocking the club for selling Osborn, a player well equipped for the championship and giving us silva, Semedo and bostock in return. I’ve lost a chunk of faith in the project this last 12 months .

No crowds football is sterile. So i think crowds should be allowed back wearing masks. The rousingpre match chorus would sound something like this:
Muwl of kintia a mift rowlin in fwom the twent my desia🤣🤣🤣.

Delighted that the Newcastle sale fell through. That was as dirty a situation as you could imagine and why the authorities took so long is sickening. Listening to the toon fans whinging demonstrates how low people are prepared to stoop in the name of buying success.

My main point though is the reason it fell through and we all should take heed. Due to world financial insecurities the deal became not viable. Investment of any kind is going to be precarious going forward and expectations need to be taylored to survival not prospering. Whilst uncertainty prevails due to the the virus crisis, money will not circulate so freely and many clubs will go to the wall.

Wages are not sustainable under the restrictions so a massive realignment will come into place. Maybe its what the game needs in the bigger picture but smaller clubs will need help.
So our hopes of a massive clearout and reinvestment will be minimal and our expectations should be survival and living to more meagre means for a few more years.

1.) 01 Aug 2020 13:05:25
It will happen rutland, even if we get lots of dirty money.

2.) 01 Aug 2020 21:54:21
Clubs won't go to the wall.
Players and agents will find it more difficult to get what they want that's all.
Premier will carry on paying out the rest will cut their cloth and cut the size of squads and spend less on wages.

3.) 02 Aug 2020 11:28:46
Bury a club of 130 years went recently before the C.V. Without gate receipts lower league clubs will struggle. Advertising revenue will be down so its going to be very testing times.

This whole dof role is a complete dicotomy. we all agree SL could only play the style and players he was dealt. The dof kept slipping in dross excuses of fit capable footballers. Lamouchi claimed he was in need of strikers, but when they were brought in, capable or not, he did not play them!
SL is a one dimensional manager and
we had a dof bringing in bargain basement largely failures at their clubs. Take just bostock not fit and not playing for his club, their is a reason. Most of the aquisitions had a similar cv. Even sow was unfit and in my opinion over rated and not trustworthy. We relied on luck, holding out and defending, one slip and its costly when you are not scoring. That was the issue.
The club was and is not unified with people pulling in different directions. From the disruptive players to Lamouchi to the DOF and chairman. Marinakis with his own agenda of dining at the top table but not paying for it. Its a cluster**** of the highest order and the sickening thing is, we have not moved forward, we are at square one with a huge dreadful playing staff, vagabonds. The silence is deafening trentside as the undoubted blame culture is wheeling its poison. For a club that attracted, such a huge proportion of season cards to watch that dross and treat them so poorly is careless and it will bite back. Forest nearly had it but got what was desereved.
As a forty odd year forest fan i would rather forest become smaller and revisit its roots. The fantasy of the prem is damaging the fabric of the club. The clamour to get there is unrealistic and the reality of being there i'm afraid, is driven by MONEY that's all. FOOTBALL is what it should be about, the product that gets us through the gates, not the stadium, not the training facilities, not the structure, not the DOF and certainly not the maglomaniac of an owner who does not realise what and who made us famous. A manager with simplistic ideas, a good side kick modern day dof lol, and values that are sadly absent in football today. From top to bottom.

Another cracker Rutland 👍.

23 Jul 2020 17:47:19
I read with interest stevie f take on lastnight and i agree with the sentiment of the financial consequences.
Ppl saying on here who we might sell and buy. With the virus i think the season will kick off with no crowds. I don't think that football is enjoyable, exciting or viable without the punters. Steve also said thst refunds on season cards is inevitable so will place clubs like us in financial difficulties. Without the punters adverising is less appealing. The game is sterile to view on telly and this will have a severe knock on effect. Csn players be paid so much as a consequence and will the transfer market be bouyant or mkre realistic on fees and wages as a result. The football world is changing and with winter predictions of a big spike in s then caution amongst clubs will be very influential. How long can sky etc keep paying the big bucks?
So I think movement, other than the loan and out of contract players, will be very subdued. I think SL will be rerained under the current restrictions and when ever they are lifted fully and good health among the nation returns then we will see about Sabri's future.

rutland red 7

1.) 23 Jul 2020 18:13:06
Id agree rutland we won't be watching from the stands.
Why should winter bring a second wave though?
Climae makes no difference as it doesn't matter if your in florida or sweden or brazil.
So if a second wave comes it could come at anytime.
Players are overpaid anyway so if clubs stuggle financially then at least its an even playing field with all clubs receiving no matchday revenue.
So if the clubs revenue falls then there is no better time for football to refuse to pay money on wages they simply can't afford.
The players will either have to accept or be unemployed.
Tough times for everyone so why should footballers expect any thing different?

2.) 23 Jul 2020 19:57:37
I don’t get the second wave stuff, out climate it’s almost seasonally void now . Most of the year it’s between 12 and 18 degrees . A climate very similar to forest actually, dull, stagnant, static, uneventful and boring .

3.) 23 Jul 2020 20:23:26
Hows it going 2 star i guess no USA trip this year?
Im going to get my tackle out by a lake for a fortnight camping, i'm just hoping the trees don't start swaying from side to side and give me nightmares 😁😁😁.

4.) 23 Jul 2020 20:44:01
FF, your memory or your 6th sense is bloody good . This time last year we’d be landing in Houston . As we speak today We’d just about be touching down in Shanghai for a China and Japan adventure! It is what it is (or more aptly it is what it’s not! ) I guess. Feeling a bit sad 😔 today but selfish as well as at least we are all well. My adventures with the family it’s what I get up for mate, I thrive off the memories that make me smile mate . Hope you’re hanging in their pal as I know the things that make you tick are probably not there either .

5.) 23 Jul 2020 21:19:25
Its a difficult tear for everyone moved out your way or not far away so been busy redeveloping my last home, bungalow of course for my old age.
Miss meeting up with the lads for football and a pint but haven't bern to a pub since they reopened got used to not being able to.
Lost a lot of weight grafting though so back down to 10stone 7 and feel better for it.
Going camping with my brummie friends so that will probably change.
Lots of great places to see in this country thougg mate scotland and its isles are stunning and Cornwall is a great place.

6.) 23 Jul 2020 22:03:51
Off to Scotland for two weeks on Monday, it seemed the best alternative 👍.

7.) 23 Jul 2020 22:13:44

Gayle was not and is not the answer, unless we change formation with two up top. The teams that reach the auto spots generally play two strikers and take the game to the opposition. They generally have a couple of decent wiley old pros to bring off the bench, austin etc at westbrom. You only have to look at the type of players at these clubs to realise why we got found out.
Lamouchi may stay but unless the dof and a the majority of players are changed then nothing will be any different and getting things to jell in a short period and push for promotion will be very hard with the upheaval promised.

Doc the 3 teams that went up had the right type of players end of. The teams were set up to attack and solid in defence. They could mix it and had variety when needed. They had experienced solid pro's too. We had none of this. We hung on to many games through luck but when your luck runs out you concede late goals through that naievity and inexperience. And i include the manager here. Inexperienced in this div and shocking mistakes through selection and subs. Most on here would know the type of player to bring to the club. I see chris brunt is retiring, now their is a perfect example of a captain and quality player at this level.

Redtree cash and worrall are just not worth that sort of money. that's dreamland. Yes they might stay and are worth a great deal to us. But are they exceptional footballers? Not a chance. Still learning their trade and going on our capitulation they have a lot to learn.
