I will equate last night's performance and tactics to a boxing match.

We had our opponent on the floor in round 8 and what did we do instead of staying on the front foot and finishing the job, we back peddled and try to defend for a points victory.

Didn't do anything last night when we needed him, I think the most improved player in the England team was Spence. Started off as a bit player, but grew into the role and actually looked good. But then, as I'm always told, what do I know.

Over the last half century we have had the quality players some years better than others. In the end it boils down to a manager. Look at Liverpool and Slot, United and Amorin, Forest and …….!
TT has to take the blame, he chooses the side and picks the team and the substitutes. No one last night would have started with a different 11. But 100% would have NOT changed the players and the resulting game, as TT did.

We all know what would happen if Big M was in charge, but is the FA and they have been ultimately responsible for our long wait for National silverware. My heart goes out to the 20,000 fans who have thrown £1000s to watch England and of course the players who you could not doubt their commitment. Of course the Premier League pay and effectively train the Argentine team, but that’s another story.

He's a very good addition to the side, left-footed, breaks up play, and has experience at the highest level (Champions League). He's a no fuss, no frills type. I doubt many here know much about him, and writing him off before he's even played a game is a little ignorant.

A regular for RB Leipzig over the last 4 or 5 seasons, captained them, and won trophies with them. Definitely can't be sniffed at. Good signing imo. 🌳

Bigger picture.

We got to the last 4 for only the fourth time ever. The other three managers who achieved that got knighted.

Beating Mexico with ten men took a lot out of the team, in my view.

They looked good for 60 minutes.

Thereafter, they looked out on their feet.

If we had held on, we would more than likely have got a good hiding from Spain anyway, who are a well-oiled machine, as shown last night.

I think they will deal with the Argies on Sunday as well.
