Now being reported that Forest are after a Man City midfielder, Reijnders for Β£55m - he's 28! Anyone know anything about him? He's not been at City long, but never seen him on a team sheet!

2

04 Aug 2026 21:17:57
Yeah, he's top class, mate. If we can get him, forget Bergvall. 🌳

3

04 Aug 2026 21:25:24
If you've never seen reindeer on a team sheet, you can't have watched City much.

4

04 Aug 2026 22:07:29
And now, patience. It's getting the fans excited. πŸ™„ If it's true, just saying. But it has come from Romano, so we will see.

I've watched Man City twice in the last year, Forest home and away - otherwise, I have no interest in them! Great to hear this, lads, a decent player then, cheaper than Bergval, plus we don't have to deal with Spurs!

1

05 Aug 2026 08:12:53
Well, you did see him then, because he played and scored against us at the City Ground. What did you think about him?

2

05 Aug 2026 12:39:16
Oh right! Is he the player with the dodgy pencil moustache? Looks like Errol Flynn's love child. πŸ˜† 🀣 πŸ˜‚

1

05 Aug 2026 13:17:46
That's the one. πŸ˜‚

Well, only Sunderland about as inactive as us in the transfer market. PL starts soon. We are making the same mistakes again not allowing any new signings to bed in pre-season.
Our recruitment team are crap. End of.

04 Aug 2026 19:49:22
Was really hoping Big M learned from last year and would get signings done early, but for whatever reasons it's not happening. Nuno dropped his bombshell over the very same thing, "we are not ready." Hope Glasner doesn't throw the toys out of the pram for the same reason. Obviously, he was promised money for signings. Come on, Mr M, get things sorted ASAP.

2

04 Aug 2026 11:25:28
Why does it take so long to sign players? If we are interested and have identified the players we want, why drag your heels? You put your cards on the table, make a bid, then if it's not enough you increase the offer.

If it turns out the player isn't worth the money, simply pull the plug and move on! We have allegedly identified two players, put bids in, then didn't make a decision! Now one player is being chased by another club, and the other seems to have disappeared!

Why would fans buy season tickets without knowing if we are going to struggle again!

1

04 Aug 2026 12:00:56
It appears we have a shared perspective. Regarding the placement of lower bids, could this be a strategy to satisfy the fans, suggesting that an attempt was made but an agreement on price could not be reached?
You would hope the hierarchy at Forest would have learned from past errors. πŸ€”

2

04 Aug 2026 12:01:40
Don't buy a season ticket is the answer. Pretty simple, really. Buy an Arsenal one or a Man City one if you just want to watch a team that's going to win a lot of games.

2

04 Aug 2026 12:10:07
Oh, I doubt that would do, Skegsy, my home team, every time! I'm not a United fan living in London, or an Arsenal fan living in Brum! Forest through and through! Although some of my mates have suggested that now I'm retired, I should be going down Meadow Lane with my bus pass. πŸ˜† 🀣 πŸ˜‚

1

04 Aug 2026 12:17:33
Yes, I understand, but the way you put it, it was if there going to be crap, I ain't buying a season ticket. I still think, with the players we have, we will do well. And we will get our signings at the right price, if not we won't. And sod Meadow Lane. 🀣 🀣

Players will always wait to see if a bigger club comes in for them, anyone would do the same. The owner is aiming high on calibre, but that simply compounds that issue. Even if you just base it on this country, there are at least 8 clubs that players would rather sign for.

When you consider the clubs around Europe, it is a difficult thing to navigate. Lower-league players would jump at it; they seldom work out, all part of the struggle / challenge of becoming an established top flight club I'm afraid.

2

04 Aug 2026 17:38:41
Maranakis always leaves it to the last minute until the other clubs drop out or the host club panics. He's a brinkmanship owner. Hope it doesn't come back to bite him.

04 Aug 2026 19:03:27
Redtreekeef, what's retirement like. Don't think I will ever see it. I can imagine not setting an alarm clock every morning is like winning the lottery. 🀣🀣

04 Aug 2026 19:10:34
Oh, it's lovely being retired, Skegs, but I'm thinking of going back to work for a rest! Since I retired, I've had the cancer op, got the all clear for that, then my blooming hip went! So my days are currently filled with physio exercises for 2 hours, and walking up and down the street on crutches. πŸ˜† 🀣 πŸ˜‚ So yeah, living the dream!!!!

1

04 Aug 2026 19:26:16
So much to look forward to then if I ever reach retirement. 🀣🀣 But im glad you've got the all clear from cancer, mate.

1

05 Aug 2026 11:02:54
Very pleased for you, Keef, that you survived cancer, mate.
I had an unusual and protracted retirement in 3 phases where my employers kept throwing money at me, luckily.
Retired from the Police aged 52 in 2009 (what a year that was... remarried in February, retired May, couple of big holidays, moved to Staffordshire from Nottinghamshire) then after 6 weeks idleness, got a brilliant job with Staffs County Council Scientific Services, tootling around the UK collecting air and water samples, plus toys, foodstuffs, soil, even a sample of sea water from the Fukushima area in Japan following the nuclear plant leak there). All for examination by Trading Standards and our brilliant Public Analyst, the wonderfully named Dr Frank Hollywood and his team of around 15 scientists.
We were always on programmes like Fake Britain or the Dom Little consumer protection stuff (never watched it myself). Once came back from my lunch break and found the lovely Julia Somerville kipping in the back of my van between filming.
Did that for 9 years then the whole Dept, which had been in existence since 1923, scrapped by (Tory-led) Staffs Council.

Got redundancy and another pension aged 61.
My wife was still working as a teacher at a local private school so I worked as a delivery driver for Tescos and as a driving instructor for them during Covid. Part to keep busy, part for a bit of pocket money, part to keep fit and part to help out in a crisis, delivering food etc to housebound people. Good wages but vans loaded up fully to the legal limit, every shift. Great fun and I got my Thursday evening clap for a few years. But I’m getting medical attention for that. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Finally retired after 5 years, got a lump sum because I was 65 and a small pension from them. Coordinated with my wife finishing too.
Mortgage paid off in 2011.
Time to relax, have holidays, look after the Grandkids and watch the Reds.
I have a pact with my wife that if we ever end up in a coma on a ventilator and the Doctors want to switch us off, then never give consent on the grounds that we only have to keep breathing to keep the money rolling in. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Both of us are approaching 70 now and creaking a bit (plus we know we are in Snipers Alley illness wise), but I'd recommend it. Stay well, look after yourselves, and enjoy each day for as long as possible. πŸ‘πŸ‘ 🀞🀞 😁

At the end of July 2025, Glasner said:

β€œEven though all the players are still here, we haven’t made the most of the transfer window so far. I was promised that we would be more active and bring in the new players earlier this year.

β€œAs of now, I have 17 outfield players! I hope we don’t lose any more.

If that happens and we get four new ones on deadline day like last year, another false start is possible.”
I'm sure OG is getting frustrated by the lack of transfer activity despite some saying we're stronger than last year? πŸ€”

04 Aug 2026 11:31:08
Not surprised, Ripley. He did make remarks earlier on a coded message, really, that "
My impatience is both a blessing and a curse".
The writing is on the wall, wall steady, and we haven't started the season yet.

As I said in an earlier post, "Get there fastest with the mostest"! As per Nathan Bedford Forrest...
We are late and, with 17 outfield players, definitely not the mostest.

What United Still Need in the Transfer Window

{Ed's Note - Philip_hunter2003 has posted a new article entitled, What United Still Need in the Transfer Window

On paper our side is weaker than last season, although arguably a stronger manager. Anderson has gone, and although I have not seen the new Austrian play, it is safe to say, Anderson is a big loss. There has been a 3 month gap for most, so there may be some improvements and some players noticeably older.

I am uncertain why there have been just one signing 3 weeks away from the Leeds match. Now OG patently perceives his side is one with great potential even without Elliot. Togetherness should be greater than last season in theory. So do the pluses outway the negatives?

3

04 Aug 2026 08:25:02
Nuno, I believe you have addressed your query in your initial statement. The arrival of new players is certainly essential. We require quality rather than quantity and should avoid hasty, panic-driven acquisitions.

1

04 Aug 2026 10:33:09
Both good posts. It's certainly "arguable" that OG is a stronger manager than VP. Time (and results) will tell. VP certainly had them purring towards the end of last season, but he's gone, and it's over to OG to maintain that trend.
I did read in The Athletic that, before the Portugal trip, OG had a lengthy boardroom meeting with Mr M and his advisers at the WFCG, which started at 4.30pm and didn't finish until 9pm, overrunning the expected time by 2 hours.

The meeting was exclusively about transfers in and out.
I'd love to have been a fly on the wall...

Good post.
I wonder was said at the meeting?
Hopefully no appeasement towards Glasner.πŸ€”

I read an EP report earlier that explains why the transfer of Osamunde Dembele is taking so long. I hope we get that one sealed. The lazy reporting from EP and they want to charge us to read the unprofessional reports that are making.

I am sure they have proof readers or is that all AI because if it is AI they need to get better software.

Great news for our optimistic fanbase. The deals we are trying to do are not easy and taking time. That means we are going for good players who cost a lot and clubs want the best price for. And our owners are trying to avoid putting the club into financial difficulty.

Win, win!

We could bottom feed, go for players nobody else wants and do quick deals instead. Would that make people happy?

I see the MGW to Spurs will he or won't he rumours have started again. I got shot down last time I mentioned it, but there's something in the air, and it's not going away, so call me what you like. Let's wait and see. For the record, I don't want MGW to go, especially to Spurs.

2

03 Aug 2026 19:04:06
Well, journalists have run out of ideas. So back to the MGW saga. 🀣🀣

3

03 Aug 2026 19:04:36
Heard the same.
Apparently a swap Bergvall?
Hopefully not true.

4

03 Aug 2026 19:37:10
I heard Yilmaz to Nottingham Forest has been going on longer than the MGW saga, but obviously if the journalists say it's happening, it's true. 🀣🀣

1

04 Aug 2026 00:38:50
Spurs? Cr6p. So cr6p, it's unbelievable. If MGW goes there, then he doesn't have enough self-respect to pull on the shirt.

2

03 Aug 2026 10:34:28
Yilmaz rumour doing the rounds again, how many preseasons have we been linked to him in a row now? 🌳

1

03 Aug 2026 11:21:17
Well, that's it. I expect that deal to be done by today. Or else, I'm going to blame Mr M. πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ˜…

Good morning Sports fans, and all new Thesbians!

Well, Forest v Leeds an opening day could be a hard game, judging by the Leeds come back against Giropool! It was damage done by set pieces, and we all know how good Forest are with set piece defending!

So let's have a positive week, with renewed interest in culture.

Let's face it, Stokey explained where the word Thesbian came from, and we see it a lot on the football pitch these days! So does this mean footballers are Thesbians? Lots of play acting!

Let's have these signings done, Forest. Let's build a team for the tp half of the table!

COYRssssssss

I fear a drubbing. We have a settled team in many ways, but lots of weaknesses, some unfit and still injured, and any new players at the last minute are likely to be a bit lost. I'm not at all optimistic.

1

03 Aug 2026 11:50:58
If we allow Chelsea to rip us off for Delap, he's already used to this league. They want to make Β£10M profit on a player who only scored 2 goals in 42 appearances, though (they paid Β£30M and want Β£40M), so I think they're having a laugh.

Curtis Jones and Bergvall are already Prem ready if we sign one of them. Schlager already knows how OG likes to play, so should hit the ground running, and he speaks English.

Jesus looks decent in one of the 10 positions. McAtee started to play better at the end of last season. We still have most of the key players from when we came 7th, although Wood won't be able to play that many games.

Kalimuendo looks suited to a dual number 10 setup as well.

It looks better than you think. Clubs are asking for silly money, and waiting to see who is willing to pay over the odds for players. It's just the way the market works. Every summer, I hear the same - fans desperate for news on signings that take time, as clubs and players wait for the best deal.

If it was easy, Marinakis would just sign 5 players before the World Cup and put his feet up for the summer.

3

03 Aug 2026 12:00:43
Good post, Cyclist, although there's a rumour Kalimuendo is off to Germany (Frankfort?) for Β£22 m...

03 Aug 2026 14:31:38
If OG wants to sign a mobile, strong, out-and-out number 9, they might need a few quid more, so wouldn't be surprised if one of the forwards is leaving. Taiwo as a number 9 suits OG's system better and seems happy to play backup until he gets his UK residency.
