Yes Stevie, OG has mentioned Yates as a possible cover at centre back. He's played there a few times including in pre season.
He's got all the attributes but has a tendency to give free kicks away and has a 50p shaped head.

I think he played there in a Europa match and did very well. But it's a specialist position and you don't want free kicks given away near our box. Looked what happened when Malenkovic clattered the Leeds lad.
But he's a good option until Savona recovers.

Yates is a a good Premiership player, He may well get his chance and will slot in seamlessly. Unlike any mascot I've ever seen.
I've seen him play many many times and can vouch for his quality and attributes.

A good professional who sets the standards. That's why he's a captain As I said, any Premiership manager would be pleased to have him.
I'm just glad you aren't in charge of recruitment and selection Skeggs.

Watched the game on Sat, thought we contained them well the first half barring the goal post fluff up.

2nd half we visibly went up a gear and came out really quickly. It was great to see players hunting in packs and GW, McAtee and Schlager busting a nut to get on the ball.

We really got in their faces and thought we overwhelmed them at times.
If Delap can serve up more 2nd half performances like that he will definitley repay his £50m price tag.

Was great for Jesus to get the winner, he has been really unlucky at times not to score so far this season and always puts a shift in, really pleased for him.

More of the same please Forest, good stuff.

i said oi ginger, look at my wad, 1st half for me more than lucky, 2nd we stepped up to the plate. Our playing from the back has me biting nails every time. We beat a villa side under the cosh manager/ coach/ backhander whatever there called now who lost it. Don't get me wrong young man.

Still look almost positive, but i just cannot see freedom from anyone and direction. Locked up in Glasner's purse of notes alongside Hughton's. We fluked it bud, but that's the rules. Ok one at a time please comebacks. And yeah the plasterer makes more money than football sense.

I would say Villa edged the first half but the 2nd half, they were 2nd best for sure.

We could have had more goals too(Nico's spoon over for example), we did get to play them at a good time, they are going through a rebuild period now and are rejuvenating their team as it was an aging squad.

But 3 points away is never to be sniffed at for sure in the Prem.

It's interesting that our next opponents, Coventry, are in such dire straits so early on. They look completely out of their depth early doors in the Prem despite being runaway winners of the Championship last season. I'm not a betting man but I doubt they will achieve the magical 11 points this season.

Sergej Jakirović is already well on his way to getting the Keys to the City and an honorary Yorkshire passport. I watched a fair bit of the Championship last season, and would never of guessed it would be them doing so well. Gary O'Neil isn't doing a bad job either.

Lots of good managers in the EFL, but not up to the premier league standards. I'm not saying Lampard isn't a good manager and you would think after playing in the prem for as long as he did he'd be able to be competitive, just goes to show how many fail.

Take our Nigel' been with Mansfield for a while now not pulling any trees up at the moment and knows the efl inside out but put him in the prem I don't think he'd last three months.

The problem is Lampard is popular with the FA and a likely next England manager. He is in the Southgate mould ie nice character wont upset FA applecarts. Southgate won nothing with Middlesbrough and it didn't stop them appointing him and he won nothing with England. So how Lampard does with Coventry is irrelevant to the FA. Lee Carsley is my choice should TT fail again.

Remember the sex tapes scandal with Rio Ferdinand and Dyer in Cyprus back in the day. We all did daft things perhaps as young men but nothing as sordid as that.
Also, I went to see Jon Richardson the comedian and actor a couple of years ago at the Stoke Regent. Very funny but he told a story about filming a " hit the crossbar from the half way line " competition for Red Nose Day.

By sheer fluke JR hit the bar first time. Lampard kicked up a right fuss and insisted that the filming continued until he'd won. Sounds like a bit of a mardy arse to me.

How did Bruno not get a red card with Phil Foden? The game has gone bananas, and VAR should be scrapped in its present form. I agree that decisions have to be made, but by the ref and no one else.
The ref has a screen he can view incidents on, so why not let the ref confirm important decisions himself? They can have a second ref on the side, to say, you need to have a look at that one!
The referee is the main man, let him make the decision using technology!

With the way things are going there'll be drone ref's flying around the pitch, with vote Trump hats on 😆 🤣 😂.

Keeff, I've been saying since time immemorial that football VAR should be done like they do it in Rugby League, Union and cricket, where it's seamless and ( mostly) smooth ) and quicker
Captains review and technology actually helping the ref. drives me mad that football is so arrogant that it can't learn lessons from other sports.

Well, well, VARs new policy of being more inconspicuous and having less effects on games is going really well. Four games in and the biggest talking points from the league so far is what they have got wrong. About time they sacked the lot of them and brought in ex-pros. To be fair the new laws around time wasting seem to be alot better so far, plus, I've only seen a couple of players round more than three times after being fouled, all down to the new injury off for one minute rule.


All in all some improvement in a few areas but still useless in others. I fear they've made the offside rules so complicated that a subjective view can be taken on most tight decisions. Like i said get the ex-pros involved. 🌳.

I believe Wenger, one of football's great thinkers and innovators is looking at a clear daylight offside approach in the Canadian leagues on behalf of FIFA. I look forward to his report and how (and if) FIFA apply it.


Marginal decisions should be like cricket, umpires call. Unless it's a complete reffing blooper goals should stand.
Prior to VAR no goal was disallowed for offside by a toe nail ever in the whole history of football.

Yeah, im not questioning Wengers integrity, although he has had input in all current rules and was one of the primary drivers to get VAR in the first place. He's clearly a proper football man, didn't have the most amazing playing career, but his influence on top class football there after has been remarkable. It can't be that hard to implement an offside rule across all of the game. If they stuck to the old rules when i played(about ten years ago)there wouldn't be such a problem, as you say daylight.

Everyone knew where we stood, none of this subjective c@rp, 'he's clearly leaning offside' or 'his toe is clearly offside'. If your body is level, you are level, simple. Generally any Tom, Dick or Harry could run the touchline and do a decent job. I have to admit, if i was asked to run the line, even in Sunday league, i wouldn't know where to start these days. 🌳.
