This will no doubt be controversial. Is it time to offload Woody? He's been a fantastic servant to the club, but is it time to offer him up to the newly promoted sides or the MLS? ?

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Jul 2026 11:36:17
Yes, it is. He still has a year left on his contract, but rather than sell him, I think we owe it to him to let him move on rather than be a bit-part player this season.

Best 15m we ever spent.

25 Jul 2026 11:38:24
Yea, he's shot it, mate. Good striker, but not class.

25 Jul 2026 11:45:55
Good question, RRH. I think this will be his last season, certainly at this level. He is managing a permanent injury. Top man and top professional that he is, I don't think we will get anywhere near a full season out of him.

I'd keep him this season if only for the example he sets to the rest of the squad and as a fall back impact sub.
(Now I've said that, he'll probably score another 20 goals).

25 Jul 2026 13:03:14
Good old "Plankov".
Made a lot of so called experts on here, who know nothing about football, eat their their words. ????????

25 Jul 2026 14:03:29
This Givario Read looks a young talent. .20 million could be a bargain. Fast, knows how to put a good cross in, takes on players. Hopefully we can get it done.

25 Jul 2026 14:06:22
I think Wood is too slow now, and he's been a great signing, but it would probably be better for him to drop down a league. Maybe he could do a job back in NZ leagues, but his body isn't healing at his age.

25 Jul 2026 14:22:01
Woody has never needed to be fast.hes a goal poacher.but mid 30s isn't healing at is age god help us if a poster cuts his finger on here most of the posters are ancient ???

25 Jul 2026 17:11:27
Woody is quick enough over 10 yards to get the edge on defenders in the box. A superb football brain gets him an extra split second, too. His stats don't lie. A brilliant and prolific scorer of goals and a top pro.

25 Jul 2026 22:06:39
Be pointless selling him.
Get very little, and he can do a job either starting or off the bench.
Jesus will come of age this season, mark my words.
He had no break from football for nearly two years, due to the Brazilian league ending and signing for us.

Wood got injured, and Kaleumundo was sent out on loan and vastly overused.
We will see a different player, and he wasn't that bad last season.

25 Jul 2026 08:10:00
We desperately need a GK, a LWB as well as Bergvall and Diamonde, but our need for a striker has diminished imo with the pre season form of Awoniyi, Jesus and Kalimuendo.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Jul 2026 09:09:06
It's a fair point, Munmad, and the signs are good goal scoring wise with Woody back in training too.
The downside is that the opposition and nature of the pre season games doesn't necessarily give a good indication of how good we are in this department.

Plus, as I've said a few times, top class strikers are as rare as rocking horse ? and correspondingly very very expensive.
In OG, we trust...
Also, I'd be very surprised if we get anywhere near a full season out of Woody and Taiwo. I hope I'm wrong....

25 Jul 2026 09:17:58
If we can carry on with the goal scoring glut we had towards the end of last season under VP, that would be a bonus.

25 Jul 2026 10:05:43
Don't agree about needing Bergvall. Whether instalments, add-ons, whatever, for 60 million, a lad that's played 50 Premier League games, 1 goal, 4 assists, really doesn't make sense. If that's what it's going to cost us, move on, simples.

25 Jul 2026 10:11:43
Agreed, Skegs, if MGW is valued around the same as an example. We should be able to get a more experienced player in for a whole lot less. ?

25 Jul 2026 10:15:00
I'd take Bergvall at about 35 mill. The price they're after? Let someone else have him, ridiculous.

25 Jul 2026 10:21:42
To be honest, if Bergval couldn't get a regular start in last season's Spurs side, he can't be anywhere near a £50m player now! Leave him at Spurs. Let's not play Spurs' game of payback for the MGW fiasco!

25 Jul 2026 10:30:38
Munmad, I think Kalemuendo will be gone. Not sure he wants to be here.

25 Jul 2026 11:37:35
I think he'd be happy as a regular starter as a 10 with MGW.

25 Jul 2026 11:47:04
Kalimuendo at least looks fit this season, Stevie. I thought he looked overweight last season, mate.

25 Jul 2026 12:30:42
Bring Mateta in. Sell Woody on.

25 Jul 2026 13:40:20
Talking of overweight, I've been blagged into playing for a local Sunday league side tomorrow. Hoping that St Johns will be attending. ? Not sure if Messi's example of not running will work in centre mid. ? ?

25 Jul 2026 13:45:26
Not so much 'box to box' anymore, more like 'bed to bar'. ?

25 Jul 2026 07:42:26
Good morning to all football fans, wherever you may live - but more so to my loyal Forest fans!

The World Cup debacle is over, so it's back to Premier League business as usual!

Great point there by DTP, but who do we bring in? Bergval, well Spurs have upped his price because Forest want him.

He would be a great addition, but not at that price. Forest have discovered some great talent, Ando, Murillo, Sherbinator, Aina!

So let's dig deep and find the next Ando and Aina!

25 Jul 2026 07:55:58
Let Newcastle and Brighton fight it out between them for him, like you say there's better and cheaper options out there.

25 Jul 2026 10:25:25
I disagree, and think in 3 years' time Bergvall will be as good as Anderson. Pay the money, and watch him fly as our number 8.

Brighton do not throw money around willy-nilly like Chelsea and Man City; neither does Newcastle, normally.

25 Jul 2026 12:32:04
Bergval doesn't seem like a tackler and a defensive option to me, more MGW type. Maybe we need him because MGW might leave?

24 Jul 2026 23:39:04
Queston edd is any other site so diverese as this one?
Lots of different opinions and certaintly lots of off football topics?
Is that the same nationwide on your forums?

{Ed001's Note - this is one of the least diverse, you are all clearly white British males, most of the sites have input from many nations.}

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2026 07:38:25
Sorry about that Ed .???

25 Jul 2026 10:05:56
I've got a fantastic tan this year. ??

25 Jul 2026 12:57:23
Lol, I'm still chuckling. DTP thinks this is a diverse site on here; different opinions, of course, but crikey. ?

25 Jul 2026 20:22:57
When I said diverse, I meant the way we talk, we'll argue about other subjects, Ginger.
Obviously lost in translation.

24 Jul 2026 20:57:30
J6st a question
Do we really need a striker?
To me we have four and three are looking good in preseason.
Iv'e always said Jesys will be a far better player this season, purely because he's had a sumner break from football after coming from the end of the braziilian season straight into ours, Kaleamundo, Dyche didn't like but scores goals and still young
Wood always reliable and Awonyi looks back to his fitest best and still relatively young.

I personally would not be worried if we don't sign a striker.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 Jul 2026 23:46:47
I agree.

We are probably top heavy. All 4 of our strikers could come good. However, he will probably only play one.

He will play with one striker, with 2 behind.

So we have MGW, McAtee, CHO, Ndoye and Hutchinson competing for two positions.

Likewise, we have Sangare, Shlager, Domingues and Yates competing for 2 positions. I think at least one more central midfielder will come in.

The area we are short in, looking at Glasner's preferred formation, is wing backs.

We have Aina, Williams and the German lad. We will need at least one more quality addition.

As far as the back 3, we have the 3M's, Cunha and Abbott. Hope the Diomande transfer comes through.

Also, I think Aina would be more than capable of playing on the right side of a back 3.

So, wing backs seem to be where we need reinforcements.

24 Jul 2026 23:50:22
I'm on that same page 67.

25 Jul 2026 09:10:26
Good analysis 67. ??

25 Jul 2026 12:33:10
Don't dismiss Netz. He will get better and better.

24 Jul 2026 20:15:09
A wee bit random but I just had a pint with Liam Gibson, just signed for Hartlepool. The Mrs and I were down Seaton having a nice drink overlooking the beach and along comes this ginger giant and his Mrs, I have to be honest, I thought it was Ben Stokes to start with, his lack of tattoos was telling though.

But yeah, politely ask if they could share our table. Seems a nice guy but, his Mrs, scary little woman, sharp, direct and has more muscle than the other three of us put together. ??

RRH
"When the Himalayan peasant meets the he bear in his pride
He will shout to scare the monster, who will often turn aside
But the she bear thus accosted rends the peasant tooth and nail
For the female of the species is more deadly than the male " .

These days, whenever I read Kipling, it makes me think of our dear friend Bowie. Very funny, shrewd and worldly wise, always with a serious point to make .
??

25 Jul 2026 13:41:23
She looks like she should be in Gladiators.

25 Jul 2026 22:20:27
Not when it comes to Ribena and packing a case, Stokey. ?
Sos Bowie, but that was a fun weekend, pal.

Oh what a lovely story to start the day! It's reported that 100,000 Argentinians have signed a petition, to have the World Cup Final replayed!!!

Is that because they thought they paid FIFA enough to win it?

Agree4 Disagree0

24 Jul 2026 09:09:40
There's been rioting too! They have massive economic problems, inflation, unemployment and their armed Forces are in an even more parlous state than ours which is saying something.
I wouldn't worry about the Falklands too much, though beef things up a bit.

Bringing our sub on should do the trick .
It's an old trick by the right wing Argentine Government to distract attention from problems at home by stoking up tension abroad. I blame Trump too for encouraging false hope

24 Jul 2026 11:10:30
I've now read that a World Wide petition, calling for Argentina to be banned from the World Cup has over 24,000,000 signatures. ? ? ?

24 Jul 2026 12:44:44
I bet the Spanish are laughing even more than we are, mate. ????

24 Jul 2026 20:23:22
Lol, there is an online portal via Talksport. 'Argentina Out,' 23,316,108 signatures from 170 countries worldwide. ???

24 Jul 2026 20:35:33
Thing is it's up to coaches and players to show them it won't work
Only reason they beat us was thomas bigears tutchel trying to be clever
Spain didn't have the advantage of being a goal up like we had, but kept their composure whike the argies didn't
That's how you beat them, not tutchel style

25 Jul 2026 11:40:48
Definitely Tommy Turtles' fault. I still can't believe his tactical blunder, and I said so as I watched it all unfold. It's not as though we didn't get any warning, or Argentina's goals came out of the blue. Didn't they hit the woodwork twice, and there was a blinding save from Pickford?
I'd have put someone, man for man, on Messi.

Everything came through him, especially when he dropped deep to pick the ball up. Probably Ando or James.
Then keep Gordon and fresh wingers (or Spence as wing back) on to hit them on the break as they became more and more desperate, thus finishing them off.
As I said, it's not hindsight.

24 Jul 2026 05:37:48
I hope we don't waste a now talked about 60 million on Bergvall. Take punt at 20 million ok but can't see nothing about him, couldn't buy a game in a relegation quality squad. There must be better out there for a lot less surly.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Jul 2026 06:40:24
Yes, Spurs trying to play payback for MGW. We must be stupid if we pay that price.

24 Jul 2026 11:45:10
Don't you 2 ever disagree???
Go on just this once.
???

24 Jul 2026 12:47:05
That reminds me, Rogie. One of my favourite films is "The Odd Couple" starring the brilliant Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon!
Nowhere near as good as our own "Chuckle Brothers", of course.... ???

24 Jul 2026 15:10:36
I'd say it's pretty obvious that only idiots would think he's worth 60 million. But I guess there are a few out there. ?

24 Jul 2026 16:22:59
Yes, Stokey!
2 absolute legends, brilliant series, and movie.

24 Jul 2026 18:46:27
Got to agree, Jay! That lad ain't worth nowhere near that kind of dish! Was a bit-part player for "Spuds" last season, so not worth a punt for potential. Move on. Gotta be more value out there.

24 Jul 2026 20:05:08
Diomande incoming, deal done.
Regarding Bervall, I'd say it won't be a straight 60 mill anyway, more a structured payment, like MGW was.
By all accounts, the lad has real talent, so I'm not against it. The recruitment has proved before, with Anderson, that they see things in a player.

24 Jul 2026 20:17:09
To be fair, Bergvall got player of the season in his first with Spurs. Structured or loan to buy would definitely be better. ?

24 Jul 2026 20:40:31
Think loan to buy is out of the question. Spurs spent a lot.
But it's one that will take time, with Newcastle also interested, but probably not at the price as a straight deal.

24 Jul 2026 21:13:02
"Dosh" not "dish".

24 Jul 2026 21:28:02
You've been reading too many of my posts, Perko. ?

Great freebie. Looking forward to seeing him play in a Forest shirt.

23 Jul 2026 16:18:24
I know his brother "Gold".
?☺️?

23 Jul 2026 20:49:58
I'm glad that he's reported to be a good footballer because with a chin like that he'll never be much of a boxer. ? ? ?

23 Jul 2026 21:02:48
Yes, looks a great freebie, skegs, and a player Glasner has worked with before and trusts, plus comes with a good pedigree.
Like you, looking forward to seeing him play.

23 Jul 2026 21:35:10
Get Diamonde in next from Sporting. Looks a beast with pace. Be some back three with Murilo and the Serbinator.

23 Jul 2026 21:50:20
That's what I'm hoping to hear tmoz, dtp.

23 Jul 2026 22:02:30
Saw him against Arsenal in the Champions League. He has an excellent passing range, and he's a beast to boot. The African Murillo? I really hope so. ?

23 Jul 2026 22:09:30
If we pull it off at 32 mill, then we have a bargain.
