I still don't get it, not coming across very well?, what our ancestors fought for?, am I being rude saying football has nothing to do with war? As a former member of the Armed Forces myself, I think I'm perfectly within my rights to question the link between football and warfare.

I personally think it's was a bo***cks reply from someone who didn't read the post before jumping to conclusions.
But sod you lot, I've actually had enough of reading the depressing rubbish most of you write. Enjoy you silly old farts, over and out. ๐ŸŒณ

Ignore them rrh there all on antidepressants living with themselves ๐Ÿคฃ and maybe if they gave the players guns and they shot at it each other I could understand to.

06 Sep 2026 15:50:16
RRH, I'm with Bowie on this one. There is a link between football and war. The most obvious one recently was when the Argentinians unfurled a "Malvinas" flag after their football victory over us at the World Cup, mate. There are loads of sporting examples.

To paraphrase Carl Von Clausewitz's famous dictum, "Football is policy by other means."...
I spent a lot of time in Poland and the Czech Republic. They loved beating their oppressors, Russia, at football...

06 Sep 2026 15:44:25
โ€œ There all on anti depressants living with themselves โ€œ. You just canโ€™t help yourself can you Skeggs?
As Miles Jupp famously quipped about the song โ€œ Surely not EVERYBODY was Kung Fu fighting โ€ฆ..โ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

06 Sep 2026 16:38:35
How's the holiday going. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

06 Sep 2026 17:37:53
Excellent, mate! It's no good changing the subject thoughโ€ฆโ€ฆ..To be fair, I've thoroughly enjoyed the sequence of spectacular own goals you've scoredโ€ฆ.. Brilliant entertainment, and thank you. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Got to now, Italian restaurant booked and I'm starving โ€ฆ.. It's hard work sitting by the pool all dayโ€ฆโ€ฆ.

06 Sep 2026 17:46:08
I would say you've had one too many panda pops, Stokie. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

06 Sep 2026 18:28:33
That's Politics and Football, not 'Warfare'. My Great Grandad running across the trenches to drive his bayonet into a German has nothing to do with football.
I have the greatest respect for Veterans and the Fallen, as I've said before, but you lot linking them to football is grasping at straws, and Bowie trying to start an argument out of nothing.

Like I said, Silly Old Farts. ๐ŸŒณ

06 Sep 2026 19:46:05
Jeez, the quickest return from a self-imposed exile to date, well done. ๐Ÿ‘

Back for some more Skegness brown nosing, I'm sure. Good luck to you, good Sir.

06 Sep 2026 20:02:14
What? Skegness brown nosing? Lmao, am I not coming across very well? Rich, you calling someone a brown nose. ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒณ

06 Sep 2026 20:20:46
RRH, would these be the same Germans who they'd played football with during the Christmas truce, mate?

06 Sep 2026 20:25:05
At the time of posting, Skegs, I'd only had iced coffee, mate. I never drink alcohol and swim. I've made up for it now though, lovely bottle of Rioja, mate, and a whiskey sour afterwards in the cocktail bar.
A word of advice though, clutching at straws won't stop you from drowning...

06 Sep 2026 20:34:48
Stokey, they also exchanged gifts, so Christmas presents are also tied to 'Warfare'? I would imagine they had a drink together as well, so coffee is tied to 'Warfare'? I suppose if they'd played Scrabble instead, that would be 'Warfare'. Bull ๐Ÿ’ฉ argument. You old farts hate being proved wrong, don't you? Funny how the instigator of this argument has posted, yet kept quiet. ๐ŸŒณ

06 Sep 2026 20:36:45
And, don't quote someone or paraphrase, tell me what you think without copy and paste please.

06 Sep 2026 20:45:53
See above, not arguing anymore about this subject. Just know I'm right. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‹

06 Sep 2026 20:46:41
I wouldn't know RRH, I've never been proved wrong.
I'm guessing you've heard of the Falklands War? Messi and friends' response was that war they lost by proxy aka football.
Of course there's a link. I could go on with further links between football and warfare, but Skeggs would start getting bored and recalcitrant. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿ˜ด

06 Sep 2026 20:46:45
Stokie my little friend you dont have the knowledge or wit to ever see me drown pal.and you know that pal. One case you ain't never going to win pal but keep trying it keeps me amused until I get really bored of you ๐Ÿ˜˜

06 Sep 2026 20:53:17
Political banners are not 'Warfare'. Please don't try and educate a former Naval man on the Falklands. ๐Ÿคฃ

07 Sep 2026 08:24:47
I'll desist, as I can tell you're agitated, Skeggs. A triple "pal" in a short post is a dead giveaway, mate.
RRH, I don't need to copy or paste, mate. I've read Von Clausewitz and Sun Tze. I agree with both, and they sum it up superbly. I'd recommend them both to you.

But then again, you know you are always right, so I'll leave you in your darkness, mate.
By the way, did you serve in the Falklands? I know 3 people that did, and they are all open to a good discussion and taking on ideas...

07 Sep 2026 09:38:52
I've read The Art of War. I found it pretty lame, tbh; it's basic common sense, written in the Chinese harmony style. And no, I was one year old when the Falklands kicked off, but I had several family members there, and we were constantly fed it at Raleigh. ๐ŸŒณ

07 Sep 2026 10:09:35
My Dad worked at Raleigh all his working life. Small world...

07 Sep 2026 10:15:36
It's perhaps ill advised what with the Skegness Gay Pride weekend (sponsored by Skeggs, Larry, and your good self, Rrh) coming up, but he was mostly a welder in the Ring Brazing Dept.

07 Sep 2026 11:04:26
Was he an able seaman? ๐Ÿ˜‰๐ŸŒณ

07 Sep 2026 12:42:46
He was very able, RRH, could fix and make anything for us 4 kids. A great Dad.
He never went to sea but did his 2 years National Service in the Medics. Volunteered for the Korean War and was posted from Folkestone to Scotland to train for it.

Then the War ended. My own belief is that the Chinese heard he was coming and bailed out...
So, unlike you, he never had the chance to try to locate the Golden Rivet on any of Her Majesty's ships mate. ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿค” ๐Ÿ˜‰

07 Sep 2026 12:55:37
Very good. ๐Ÿคฃ Nah, fair play to him, in all fairness, there are some fantastic instructors down there. Something to make you laugh. On the day of our passing out parade, it was like 30ยฐ, I don't cope well in hot weather.

I remember my mate whispering to me, "dude, you're sweating like a pig." Next thing I remember was looking at the sky thinking, 'well that's over then'. ๐Ÿคฃ๐ŸŒณ

06 Sep 2026 08:39:33
As good as we were at Liverpool is a big contrast to yesterday when I thought we were really poor. Spurs broke numerous times and we were wide open.
A work in progress I suppose but we were robbed of Nicoโ€™s goal. Brave effort from him.

Agree6 Disagree0

06 Sep 2026 09:31:27
We definitely were, mate... Also, Williams flattened in the penalty area, you could see their player come to a sudden halt, knowing the impact was coming, no intention of going anywhere near the ball.

06 Sep 2026 09:52:36
Yeh agree, Rogie. I didn't see it clearly, but it did look like he was clattered.
Two very poor teams.

SFA Youth Minutes Plan Feels Like a Quick Fix

{Ed's Note - EHL2020 has posted a new article entitled, SFA Youth Minutes Plan Feels Like a Quick Fix

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Sep 2026 22:39:25.
So last season we beat:
Leeds at home 3-1 win, now 0-1
Liverpool away 3-0 win, now 2-2
Spurs at home 3-0 win, now 0-0.
Last season the 3 games brought us 9 points, well deserved!
Same 3 games have brought us 2 points!
We scored 9 goals, conceding just one goal!
We have now scored 2 goals, conceding 3 goals!
This is not doom and gloom thinking, this is reality! Where do we pick up the 7 points we've already lost!
The 3 promoted teams look very strong, not the roll overs you come to expect!
I'm Forest through and through, Garibaldi Red runs through my body!
I'm concerned about our squad, our tactics, our new system, our new coach and our lack of recruitment again! But more concerned about team spirit!
COYR.

Agree4 Disagree0

06 Sep 2026 05:21:30
The 3 promoted teams look very strong? Really? I personally think they'll all get relegated, or at least 2. Cov 0 points from 3 games. Ipswich conceded 8 goals in the last 2 games. Hull got off to a flyer, but plenty of promoted teams have done that and sunk without trace.

06 Sep 2026 07:08:08
Said exactly that, Keefe.
All 3 of those wins under Dychey too!
Shhhhh... dont tell Skeggs, he hates Stats. They derail his train of thought.... ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Also, we are both in danger of being included in his "fan club" and setting off his DDS.
Seriously, good post. But a worrying start. At least we aren't Spurs and have spent ยฃ300 plus. ๐Ÿ˜

06 Sep 2026 08:07:12
I get what you are saying, but those 3 games were not all at the very start of the season.

I think after 3 games last season, we had 4 points, so in real terms that's two points difference, and then we went on to gain only 6 points after 10 games.

As mentioned before, I don't think we will be at our best until October, when we have had time to adjust to new players, manager and the new system.

06 Sep 2026 08:52:13
I agree, Ginger. Bear in mind we've had 5 managers in a year. The players probably don't know whether they're coming or going, mate.

05 Sep 2026 22:16:58
And so to bed. Great night watching Sons of Anarchy 5th series gets better and better. Sometimes you just have to stick with things. Going to have a great night's sleep, probably unlike the Spurs fans that look like they have wasted a lot of money. Living the Glasner Maranakis dream. Boys nighty night ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜.

Agree4 Disagree0

05 Sep 2026 23:47:59
See ya in court skegs, (so ta bed) all mine you know that. Along with the royalties from RCA ?

06 Sep 2026 08:55:06
You told me you needed sleeping tablets Skeggs. Canโ€™t you even lie straight in bed mate ?โ€ฆโ€ฆ just asking ๐Ÿ˜

06 Sep 2026 10:30:50
Morning, my admirer. ๐Ÿ˜˜ I have no problem sleeping or lying, pal, and I'm definitely not a remorseful person. I go to sleep with no regrets at all, living the Forest Glasner Mr M dream.

06 Sep 2026 09:50:33
Ok I admit it! Just googled Sons of Anarchy. Respect and apologiesโ€ฆ itโ€™s Hamlet transposed from the Court of Denmark to a Hells Angel type chapter.
Same plot, same characters, same relationships, gunplay instead of sword play. I will add it to my list and thank youโ€ฆ.

06 Sep 2026 11:38:30
I know you have no problem lying, my friend, but you did say you needed tablets to help you sleep. Or were you lying then as well?
Anyway, got to go. It's 34 degrees here and I've got an iced coffee on the way poolside!
Uuuuu redddsss.

06 Sep 2026 12:19:07
No, Stokie, I said I read your comments. They help me sleep. ๐Ÿ˜ด ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

06 Sep 2026 14:01:22
"I used to have to take tablets." Check it out, mate. Or was that just your leaden and unfunny (supposed) sense of humour. ๐Ÿ˜Ž ๐Ÿ˜ด

05 Sep 2026 21:01:08
So, the story so far...
Dyche 22 points from 18 games
Pereira 17 points from 12 games
Glasner 2 points from 3 games

So howโ€™s the Glasner Mr M dream going for yโ€™all early doors? ๐Ÿค”

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Sep 2026 22:35:40
Stokey, how many points had Vitor after 3 games??

05 Sep 2026 22:39:22
How many times? Aren't you bored of repeating the same stats over and over? It's done, Stokey. Let it go. Get behind what we have now, because they're not going anywhere. Far too many on here hold onto the past. Football moves on and doesn't care about past achievements. ๐ŸŒณ

05 Sep 2026 23:27:59
That's just it, Winter. Far too many forget the past. Everything our good ancestors fought for.

05 Sep 2026 23:05:11
I'd also like to ask: when we sold Elenga to Newcastle, i suggested we should take Harvey Barnes in part-exchange. I was met with ridicule and generally laughed at.
Are you still laughing? ๐Ÿ˜‹๐ŸŒณ

06 Sep 2026 00:07:39
Bowie, what our ancestors fought for has nothing to do with football. ๐ŸŒณ

06 Sep 2026 00:39:46
Won't go too far into it winter, but every breath of freedom you breathe comes from the fallen. Lest we forget. It's that ignorance bud that puts fire into me to remind this once great country.of the creation from the beloved. Just saying.

06 Sep 2026 08:04:39
Bowie, I appreciate your posts, but I am uncertain about the connection between warfare and football. Winter raises a valid point concerning the historical context and the current state of football. Fighting for one's country and playing football are fundamentally different endeavors.
Mr. Glasner is currently in charge; let's support him until his term concludes.
Marinakis, I'm sure, has his hand on the trigger!

06 Sep 2026 08:10:53
RRH, Seriously, dude, you need to take a day off, mate, you're not coming across very well. :)

06 Sep 2026 08:13:19
Just stating stats with a view to prompting a chat? I support OG, of course. Nothing to "let go" at all, RRH.

06 Sep 2026 09:56:53
Good post, Stevie. I remember VP lost to Brighton first up, then I'm guessing the late and controversial defeat at home to Liverpool. A draw to somebody good (Ando v Man City?), then he only lost one more game in the prem, and that was another controversial (and meaningless) one at Old Trafford when the ref overruled VAR.

So, hoping OF turns it round in similar fashion, mate.

06 Sep 2026 11:26:12
OG, ...

06 Sep 2026 19:11:49
And I appreciate you liking my posts, Ripley, bud. Thank you. ๐Ÿ‘

05 Sep 2026 19:48:05
Like the Murphy's, I'm not bitter, a points a point at end of the day. Managed to catch final score in a bar full of Cabbages (Hibernian fans), they looked a lot more depressed than I felt. Heads up gents, a lot of moaning and reflecting on what could have been with different players/coaches. We have to deal with now not then. From what I heard, we didn't give away too much to them chance wise today and Munoz looked bright when I came on.

It'll click, the players just need time. And before I get shot down, imagine being some of the lads that have played under 5 coaches, playing 5 different styles in 1 and a bit seasons, it's no wonder we look disjointed at times. Take a breather, have a Beer/Vodka/Rum/Guinness, and enjoy, night gents. ๐Ÿ‘‹๐ŸŒณ

05 Sep 2026 22:42:06
Lmao, watching it in the pub with a load of Edinburgh natives, brilliant spectacle. ๐ŸŒณ

05 Sep 2026 18:06:51
Glasner is a very good manager but he has a rigid system which takes time to gel. At Palace he took 8 matches for a win. As I have said before does Mr M have the stomach for that? Do we? Moreover, do we even have the players for his system?

Delap deserves a proper chance but I saw him live 3 or 4 times last year and I didn't see much I liked other than pure physicality. I don't think he is as good as Mateta and is similar to Fleming (bought by Ipswich, sold by Burnley, for way less than half Delapโ€™s fee). Fleming scored 10+ goals in Prem last year and when I saw him live I thought h was effective.

We knew Anderson was leaving 6 months ago? Yet we end the transfer window in net profitโ€ฆ do we have less money than we thought? No idea.

But time and time again we end up bidding - entirely predictably - in a manner of no obvious structure in the last week or so. I think we look light in midfield post Anderson (of course) yet are like for like replacement is an Austrian who is a good player but has a terrible injury record.

We have a new CEO - who arrived after the window shut.

Murillo looks perhaps overweight? MGW must be missing his midfield friend.

Itโ€™s a tough gig and it requires patience but the reality is we are going to be relying on MGW again and this time without his buddy in midfield. If Sels gets injured or MGW, I don't want to consider the back up.

I rate OG, I really do but on ยฃ13.5m a year he is not going to get given much time, especially with our Chairman.

What I can say, is that yet again the more stabilised mid-table clubs (we are not one yet) did their business pretty early. As did Leeds. We did not, and I don't rate that as an approach.

Time will tell, but on the basis that we have had 3 relegation scraps in 4 years, having a 4th in 5 seems remarkably likely, especially given how so many teams have spent a lot of money and recruited (probably) quite well.

Agree6 Disagree0

05 Sep 2026 18:37:46
Very good read, mate.

05 Sep 2026 19:23:35
Well, Skeggs?
What did you make of today, mate?
Not provoking you, just want your opinion.

05 Sep 2026 20:13:14
Rogie, 3 games in, lost 1 game. Wasn't great, but too early to get as depressed as you lot. Spurs spent over 300 million and can't score a goal and can't win a game, but for them it's early days. Like us, Schlager was best man on pitch again. Glasner's man. We're building around a good manager, im happy to sit back and wait.

Anyway, im watching Sons of Anarchy, bloody great series, and im still living the Glasner Maranakis Forest dream. Im sure everyone will be happy if im proved wrong. Just 1 thing before I leave, I remember a lot who are moaning now were the same ones moaning about Nuno; bet you're missing him now. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

05 Sep 2026 20:17:00
I think the team will settle, and the results will come. Todayโ€™s match, although no goals, was a case of two forward-playing teams. When you think what Spurs spent compared to us, yet we equalled them today. Delap was bereft of supply except over the top. MGW and he will gel, as when Delap sent MGW through at one point.

With Ipswich, did he net so many goals as he played with Hutchinson? Neither Ainia, Williams, nor Munoz hit the byline, although Munoz sent over a few good crosses. Both McAtee and Schlager had very good games. A draw was a fair result, and it appears no one on the pitch seemed to dispute the VAR handball, especially Williams.

05 Sep 2026 20:48:14
Skeggs, I do hope he improves our team.
With Nuno we all knew the drill.
Let them have the ball, and God help them when they didn't.
Pace both wings, attacking in an instant.
Similarly with Vito, too.
As I said, mate.
I'm not too sure what our style is atm.

05 Sep 2026 20:54:47
Only time will tell, Rogie.

05 Sep 2026 21:19:36
Carabao Cup debacle conveniently forgotten... still to record a win. It's going well...
SD and VP beat this shower 3 nil.
Just saying... tick tock tick tock...

05 Sep 2026 21:27:43
Skegs, I bought the SOA boxset a good few years ago.

First few seasons OK. Then downhill. Never finished it.

As for OG. Hope your optimism bears fruit. But so far not so good.

Shlager did get better in the second half. But we lost the midfield battle today.

05 Sep 2026 21:29:55
You missing me, Stokie. Must be a long day for you, sitting by the phone waiting for me to post. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ Why I'm sitting back watching a good series, Sons of Anarchy. I bet you were like Wayne in that series, Stokie. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

05 Sep 2026 22:47:26
Skegs, great summary. Sons of Anarchy rocks. ๐Ÿ‘ ๐ŸŒณ

06 Sep 2026 08:18:00
Never heard of it... Reading "H for Hawk" by Helen MacDonald, having just finished "Traitors Circle" by Jonathon Freedland. Both excellent.
Life's too short to be sat waiting by a phone, Skeggs. You need to get out more, mate. Shake off that Dds. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘

06 Sep 2026 09:23:37
Got to admit I didn't see much to inspire me today, lots of kick and run ( hope someone gets on the end of it) Delap juries out for me, didn't do anything wrong but just didn't do anything to excite me. We're going to play BETTER sides so we have to improve.

05 Sep 2026 17:54:26
Early days I know but I cannot see any improvement anywhere. Zero creativity, poor control and players clearly playing out of position. No chances created and nothing positive on show.
Going to be a long season. ๐Ÿ™

Agree3 Disagree0

05 Sep 2026 19:08:01
We didn't need to improve. We were scoring goals and beating teams. Now we aren't.

05 Sep 2026 19:42:18
I'm not sure I'm liking this current system, however Cuhnia looks to be improving with every game.

05 Sep 2026 17:40:22
Saw nothing to change my mind on the transfer window. Needed more quality in midfield. Murillo comes off injured, no defensive cover now. Playing way too many long balls. We will be better away from home.

McAtee and Schlager not the answer in midfield. A word on the ref, shocking. Is that word, Iโ€™ve always said heโ€™s the worst ref in the league, and thatโ€™s saying something. He did nothing to change my opinion today.

Agree6 Disagree0

05 Sep 2026 19:00:36
Did anyone see Ollie getting frustrated on the touch line today???
All I saw was the odd arm urging them forward.
If the message isn't getting through, Ollie, then let them know it!!!
Part of the trouble might be with such a small squad and potential injuries, they probably know that they're more than in with a shout to get playing time.

Feel sorry for Netz atm...

05 Sep 2026 19:08:57
How does Netz not get on the pitch? Aina hasn't got the legs for this system.

05 Sep 2026 19:49:46
Really.

In my view, over the last three games he has been our best player.

05 Sep 2026 20:23:36
How many minutes did Aina last?

05 Sep 2026 20:26:21
It's not just having the legs.
Williams has the legs but can't cross or shoot. He can't even score when the ball just needs blowing over the line. ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜†.
Aina is quality and will run himself into the ground for an hour. Unfortunately, then, though, he more often than not has to come off as he's cream crackered.

05 Sep 2026 20:39:03
Fred, you're telling me Williams' workrate is wrong, bud?

05 Sep 2026 21:01:46
Hi, Bowie.
Nothing wrong with his workrate. He has a fantastic engine and heart.
It's the quality of his work that needs to improve.

05 Sep 2026 21:11:20
Thank ya for reply, Fred. But myself, my friend would say that about 80% of this team. Is it the team or directions? Hamster wheel comes to mind.

05 Sep 2026 21:47:21
Personally, I don't like this system.
Most teams play with one striker, so why 3 centre backs?
Asking fullbacks/wingbacks to do a winger's job, which is one of the most skilful positions.
The absence of any out-and-out wingers, coupled with no pace at all throughout the team, is leading to a lack of goals.

05 Sep 2026 22:18:02
Brilliant bud. ๐Ÿ‘
