Omg I cannot believe I've been omitted from the England team for the World Cup! I've had a fantastic season, lost a lung, gained a hip, scored with a hat trick of nurses!!!
I've played most of the last 2 years in Cuba, so I qualify before Ivan Toney and his camel league!
Mind you, if MGW, Palmer, Foden, McGuire are not on the plane, then I am in good company!
I certainly didn't want the German as England manager, such a shot decision by the FA!

Tuchel out ASAP.

Tuchel, Tuchel, we love the German manager of England. ?
22 May 2026 17:02:39
Well, as Stokey will agree, they attack with venom and certainty. The Germans are precise and well oiled.
22 May 2026 10:55:29
Ok Trickies, a bit of outside the club analysis not based on rumours.
Let's say we might have to sell one of our core "best players" to fund a new striker and avoid PSR rules. Not interested in the "we MUST keep our best players" thing. I mean if we absolutely HAVE TO sell one of them.
Murillo
One of the best ball playing left-sided CBs in world football. The kind of player who makes the difference between a solid back line and a world-class one.
Anderson
International standard player going to the World Cup.
Gibbs-White
One of the best industrious goal scoring attacking midfielders in the league. Would likely cost as much as we get to replace him.
Pros and cons as I see it are. MGW and Ando would make a lot less money for the club as they weren't actually that cheap to sign. Murillo cost peanuts so would be nearly all profit. Financially, the sale of Murillo makes a lot of sense.
Replaceability?
We can't buy a replacement for Murillo of the same level but could get a very good left-sided CB. Anderson is not irreplaceable, but really important player. A player who can score the same number of goals/assists as MGW would cost £100M unless we're lucky. MGW, is our main man and
What the players want?
Anderson might want out, based on the number of stories (although it could be other clubs seeding the stories to unsettle him. I think Murillo would stay to play every week but is likely to be open to playing for a European elite club. Same for MGW in my opinion.
My opinion
If Anderson and MGW can be persuaded to stay then it makes financial sense to replace Murillo and make a bigger profit.
Selling Murillo for 75M would bring in more money than £100M for Anderson or MGW due to their higher fees and both Anderson and MGW would cost more to replace. Spend the profit on a striker.

As you said, mate, Murillo is irreplaceable, MGW can definitely be described as the same. That leaves Anderson, unfortunately, imo, great player, who is only going to get better. But if one has to go he's the one who can be replaced.
Just look at Xhaka up at Sunderland, if he could learn to calm down on the ball maybe we have a ready-made replacement already in our Club Captain. ?
22 May 2026 13:35:48
Excellent post, RedCyclist. I suppose the question is how much the club needs to find regarding PSR. Unfortunately, I think Anderson will go, especially if he has a good World Cup. But, looking at the squad, I’m not convinced. MGW might stay, but can be replaced. Murillo would be a great loss, but he hasn’t made the Brazilian team, so he is not in the international shop window.
But, let’s look at the other players who could make the money for us. Moratto, Sangare and even Awoniyi have been mentioned as having offers made, and also Ndoye. But, in reality, if they want to go, then sell them. I don’t want to see a repeat of the MGW shambles of last season. It took him till Xmas to get his head back into the game.
22 May 2026 14:44:04
You have to consider what the player cost vs what they sell for too.
Sangare cost £30M, so we'd have to get £80M to make £50.
Morato cost £5M, what are we going to make?
Awoniyi cost over £20M, didn't he?
I don't think we are forced to sell one of the big 3.
I think, if we want to spend big on a striker, then we will have to. Just an educated hunch. Wood is getting on, and we need another striker, and they aren't cheap.
22 May 2026 15:38:01
Yes, Cyclist, didn't look at it that way. I agree, selling Murillo would make sense and give us the maximum profit. It's just finding a replacement. Then there is the Wood situation, been out for a large chunk of the season, and he's not getting any younger. Either way, it's going to cost. Just hope VP has replacements ready to go. Good post, Cyclist.
22 May 2026 16:47:48
Take into account the depreciation on the players. A 30mil signing on a 5 year deal loses 6mil value a year on our books. If we get 30mil for said player in his last year, it would equate to a 24mil profit on the books.
Sure, I'm right, but someone with a few more brain cells may correct me.
22 May 2026 19:39:41
Just looked it up: between EUR18.3 million and EUR20.0 million, so £15-17. Bargain. ?
22 May 2026 19:36:51
Realistically how much would a 30 year old Ivan Toney cost? I'd forget all about him playing out in the Saudi backwaters. Definitely worth consideration. ?
22 May 2026 20:11:04
A king's ransom in wages, and there lies the problem.
22 May 2026 23:23:19
I'd still take him, save on the transfer fee and pay it in wages. Proven Premier League striker. At least, it wouldn't be a gamble, because most players from abroad take time to settle. ?
23 May 2026 10:55:43
We won't sign a 30-year-old.
We're only looking at young players with a sell-on.
22 May 2026 10:11:28
That’s me done with England now until Tuchel goes!! Jordan Henderson in Gibbs White out Picking players on form? I don’t think so. An absolute national disgrace imo Viva la France.

Yeah, I believe you. You're not going to watch the World Cup. ?
22 May 2026 12:06:24
Come on, Scotland, Tartan Army. Hope we get knocked out early. It will make my day. ?
22 May 2026 12:50:07
Crikey, Munmad, you're sounding a bit like Red Hot with his knee-jerk reactions.
Look, it's really disappointing with some of the selections. I thought GW had a big chance, especially with Palmer and Foden's form too, and a few other selections.
But will it stop me looking forward to and watching the World Cup? No chance!
I'm sure you'll get on board. Don't let the manager spoil your enjoyment, fella.
22 May 2026 14:17:56
Won't watch England while Jug Ears is manager decision made
Political manager Trent Alexander Arnold Gibbs White and Harry Maguire should be in for The Crab aka Henderson Stones and Spence terrible picks from a crap manager
22 May 2026 08:16:15
Now this is getting ridiculous, Spence with a broken jaw instead of Alexander Arnold!!! ? Has Tuchel got a bet on Germany to win the World Cup? That’s the only explanation I can think of for these team selections. Mind boggling. Picking players in form. Really.
{Ed001's Note - he won't pick Trent as he is shagging Trent's ex and they had a big fall out over it. There is not a chance that Trent gets near England unless half the squad drops out or Tommy Tuchel buggers off.}

What tangled webs we weave, eh Ed ??
I'm rapidly losing whatever small interest I had in this World Cup mate and I'm a proud Englishman ( with a bit of Irish thrown in .) ?
{Ed001's Note - I have never really enjoyed international footie, I find it too slow and boring, a lot like the Prem this season!}
22 May 2026 10:14:00
To state the obvious, the team is composed only of Englishmen. How many teams in the Premiership contain a mere 1/5 th of English born players in their team? Very few, if any. The FA appointed a German manager, so this is what you get. Essentially, we know the starting 11 and Mgw would have difficulty getting into that, even if picked to go.
Should the side survive the heat and reach the next round, Tuchel will be offered a new contract, ie the FA consider that success. Meanwhile, a proven very successful England manager is languishing, ie Mr Carsley.
22 May 2026 13:11:02
I'm the same Ed 1. I won't watch a second of it. To me it's just something that wrecks the domestic league programme. ???
22 May 2026 13:26:13
And when the World Cup kicks off there will be no Forest players in the England team.

{Ed001's Note - what do you mean?}

For me, Carrick probably best of season manager, but worst has to be ange.
21 May 2026 22:16:45
I just can’t believe what I am hearing about MGW not going to the World Cup. This is an absolute joke, he’s been fantastic this second half of the season and is clearly in form. Tuchel lost the plot.
Rant over, back to my self imposed exile. Hope your all well.

Hell deffo pick the highest in the Bundesliga.
21 May 2026 21:57:47
If I was England coach and my professional reputation was on the line, I would definitely pick Morgan.
He offers something different.
21 May 2026 22:13:41
Bank statement is all they look at, Gazz.
And, for playing Mickey Mouse teams for the most part.
21 May 2026 22:32:55
Got no interest in the World Cup, especially since it's in the USA, at least 5hrs behind us, and now with the squad selection. Pitiful!
22 May 2026 01:10:52
Don't you normally tell me off for them comments, Dtp?
22 May 2026 09:30:57
The crazy thing is, it's not just GW's attacking threat, it's also his work rate when not in possession, he is a great player on the counter too for turnovers.
Henderson is a wasted spot. Bring him, if he is good around the camp, experience, etc., as a coach, fair enough. They never learn their lessons from the previous managers, do they?
21 May 2026 19:50:43
I like the tone of VP's last press conference of the season, saying what a great group of players he has and what a privilege it is to work with a squad of “character”.
I particularly like his expressed wish to not have big changes over the summer and few additions to a squad which “has a good core”…..
Agree3

21 May 2026 22:00:30
We've heard the same from several coaches, Stokey.
Unfortunately, it's not VP's decision who we sell and who we sign.
He will probably be just as frustrated as the others before him.
22 May 2026 09:44:21
Perhaps I'm being unusually naive, Gazzi, but I'm hoping our Glorious leader will have learned lessons from his previous recruitments (and recruiters). We can but hope...
Whatever the big man does, he should do it early notwithstanding the World Cup.
