Just saying - I'd love to be the owner of the company with the contract to remove confidential shredding from the American Department of Justice. That company must be making a mountain of money at the moment.

Trump administration is absolutely lawless. Congress isn’t sitting atm hence delay in enforcing the law. Which Trump knows. Quite a few will be thrown under the bus for this but Trump may well survive.

You know what. Muhammad Ali or Cassius Clay as he was known then. Was a bigger price to beat Sonny Liston than Jake Paul is to be AJ.

How crazy is that.

This should all be over inside 2 minutes.

Anything over 2 rounds and something is well dodgy.

Can't blame AJ or Eddie Hearn for taking the fight/ money. But can't believe any responsible body has sanctioned the fight. It sets a very low bar. Boxing is a sport. But it is not a game. People can get seriously hurt.

The great 'peacemaker' of out time starting a war, Stokey? I don't believe a word of it. TACO Trumputin is an upstanding bloke with the best morals and principles the world has ever seen. He would never start a war.

As a retired cop, I still can’t believe the USA have elected a multiple convicted fraudster and adjudicated rapist as President. How can he be in any way, shape or form fit for Office?

Agree2

18 Dec 2025 16:36:34
TACO has shown himself not to be fit for office on multiple occasions in is first presidency and US Presidents generally operate outside the legal boundaries anyway so it should come as no surprise that someone as insidious as this cretin has got in power.

Putin wouldn't have wanted anyone else to win which is why he helped him in 2016. Someone as weak as Trump is Putin's best chance of winning in Ukraine and we can see that happening.

2tone, I only came across one bent cop in Notts in 30 years ( and he was jailed) so a strange remark?

Colin gunn had a few on the take.

Agree1

19 Dec 2025 15:28:44
More on the being ‘fit for office’ stokey, I wouldn’t let most of the coppers go to the shops by themselves let alone protect us.

Agree0

19 Dec 2025 20:35:21
DTP, the bent cop was taken down along with the Gunns. “Quite a few” is a gross exaggeration.
I2 tone I retired in 2009, so I can’t comment on the fitness or otherwise of Police Officers. I do know that the veterans were forcibly retired to save money leaving a new cadre of inexperienced Officers most with careerist ideas of their own rather than serving the public “without fear or favour “ which was the ethos when I was working.

I think my senior Officers had your back and got the job done instead of playing at politics and wokery. This old school attitude filtered down to the lower ranks I think perhaps in a way that it doesn’t nowadays?

Agree2

19 Dec 2025 21:22:34
He was the one that took the hit stokey
Takes more than one to get away with what he and his gang did for years
By the way stokey I did a job about three years ago for a operations policeman and he actually said it was easier to police when the gunns ran bestwood,
Since then it becomes a turf war and police got no idea what to do about it.

Agree0

19 Dec 2025 23:33:36
No DTP you are wrong mate. My extremely reliable information is that when the Gunns were taken down they cashed in all their chips with a view to having sentences reduced. They squealed like a stuck pig ( if I dare use that phrase). I knew the lad who was bent and he was a right thicko who got in way over his head and started to believe his own publicity. There were some attendant disciplinary matters for failing to supervise him but nothing criminal.
Your Officer who relied on the Gunns doing his job for him sounds a right idle “uniform carrier” and needs looking at, unless you were taking things out of context.

For example, when I was Hyson Green flats resident beat Officer for 2 years I was told by people that knew that it was the drug dealers who stopped the riots because an influx of Police hampered their operations.
It’s was a bit like the words of Bob Dylan’s song
“Now Joey stepped up and he raised his hand
And said “we are not those kinda men
It’s peace and quiet that we need
To go back to work again “.

Agree0

20 Dec 2025 01:23:03
DTP if that's true we are in the shit.

They were running half of Nottingham and most people knew it.

Should have been collared much earlier before they gave the Police an open goal.

Thats what happens when people keep getting away with stuff, they keep pushing the envelope. Would have saved a few innocent lives.

Job done tonight. Not brilliant, but good enough.

As a total aside, for those of you interested in the subject - I've been using any (rare) spare time that I've had over the last 6 months to investigate the Jack the Ripper case. It has intrigued me for years.

So many potential suspects. I've looked at them all in depth and with my ex-Int Corps head on, I plumb on a guy called Albert Bachert/ Backert as the killer.

Mrs Legolas got me really thinking about this ages ago when we watched a documentary about the subject. Stokey will know all about this - she said that in the majority of murder cases the victim knows/ trusts their murderer.

Albert was a complete narcissist and loved the media attention around him being a member (and then leader) of the Whitechapel Vigilante Group. As such, he went out at night to 'protect' the local prostitute community. They would have trusted him. Albert also showed up at various Ripper murder scenes 'trying to help' the police. Very much an Ian Huntley character.

Do you own research if you're interested in this Reds. I'm convinced that this guy was the Ripper.

Agree1

11 Dec 2025 21:56:14
I've watched many programs on theory from historians lego about Jack the ripper
All might have some credibility, but the bottom line is it will never be solved,

Agree1

11 Dec 2025 23:02:40
Of course not DTP. But we can, however, piece together scraps of info from the time to at least come to a reasoned judgement. I've read a couple of books about the Ripper in the past and also seen a couple of documentaries. Albert was only mentioned briefly as a possible suspect in each.

I've done a load of research and I'm convinced it was him. For me, what his former landlady said about him was very telling.

Agree1

11 Dec 2025 23:41:55
All ill say is put your evidence forward to a a media group to investigate.

Agree1

12 Dec 2025 03:13:18
Can see it now, the residential recreation area of the care home, who done it? Lego with his Sherlock Holmes cap on, DTP with his Harry Potter specs on, both of them studying the cards. Then in comes Stokey "Cluedo" 🌳.

Agree2

12 Dec 2025 06:23:16
The majority of murder victims do know their killer but serial killers are a completely different type of murderer. They kill at random at opportunity and kill strangers not people that they know. Who Jack the Ripper was will never be known.

14 Dec 2025 16:52:20
Bit rude ed, think you need to get out more mate.
Two conservative Islamic nations, Egypt being one and Iran the other, who both have a huge footballing fanbases. Just because you live in a rich forward thinking Islamic country try walking down the streets hand in hand with another bloke in Terran and see where that gets you.

Having spent several years in Islamic countries that definitely aren't forward thinking i can see their being uproar. 🌳.

It is very common amongst Pakistani men, for example, to walk hand in hand with each other when walking together. You do know what religion they are right? You are always picking fights on here, abusing others and posting homophobic comments, you really are not in a position to criticise anyone.}

Thanks Stokey, I appreciate it mate. But, as usual, I'm not posting this stuff for personal recognition. I'm posting it in the hope that it will inspire at least one reader to 'go the extra mile' in helping others.

IMO, it is a national disgrace how badly Veterans are treated after being 'used' and expected to put their lives on the line serving this country. I'm still amazed and disgusted that so many Veterans have to rely on charities to even survive post-service. UK politicians, past and present, of all colours should collectively hang their heads in shame on this subject.

Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge. ' 🌳.

Agree3

09 Dec 2025 20:25:18
“Democracy is the very worst form of Government apart from all the other types that have been tried from time to time “ Sir Winston Churchill said.
Red, anti intellectualism is a tool from every tyrants playbook from time immemorial mate. And every Trumpian would be tyrant. It’s why “dumbing down “ and “fake news” are the modern buzz words.
It’s no coincidence that the intellectuals were amongst the first to sent to the Gulags in Stalin’s Russia and the concentration camps in Hitlers Germany.
The last thing any aspiring “Dear Leader” wants is a free thinking and challenging section of society. It’s why all the major Education Acts were passed in the middle to late 19th century in the UK following the European Social Revolutions of 1848, the so called “Springtime of the Nations”. Before then, what limited Education was available in the UK was provided by the Church, particularly of the dissenting type, the same people who had settled in America and won Independence in the American Revolution.

The last thing any Government wanted was a troublesome educated working class. So, they brought it under State Control as soon as possible.
The Church dissidents were Social Reformers and the forerunners of the Labour Party.
Before 1848 the people in power, for centuries, hadn’t given a toss about Education ( apart from the upper echelons mainly the Aristocracy). Suddenly, with the Industrial Revolution following the Agrarian Revolution, the last thing the money makers wanted was a bout of free thinking and an educated working class. Even worse, they might demand universal suffrage and vote any Government out of power or seize it anyway…….

Agree3

09 Dec 2025 21:06:55
Yes the church has a lot to answer for as does the cult of anti-intellectualism especially in the United States. Just watched the interview with Trump regarding the Ukraine peace process and when he said European countries were slowly being eradicated by migration i couldn't help but laugh.

Wasn't the States founded on imagination? Coming from a country that's barely 300 years old give or take a few, have they forgotten where they come from? 🌳.

Red Robin just a few thoughts on your post.
Firstly, if Trump was serious about drug smuggling he wouldn’t have granted a pardon to the former President of Honduras ( and associate of Joaquin “El Chappo Guzman currently serving life plus 30 years in a high security prison in Florida for running a huge drugs empire) Juan Orlando Hernandez, extradited, found guilty by a US jury of massive drug trafficking and sentenced to 45 years in prison just 6 months ago. That’s in addition to around 100 others convicted of Federal ( ie serious) drugs offences amongst around 1700 pardons granted in just under a year in Office ( mind you Sleepy Joe holds the record for pardons at 8000 plus including many of his family).
Fentanyl is NOT smuggled into the US from Venezuela on the boats that are being strafed. The chemicals for the drug ( mostly legal) are sent from China to Mexico and Columbia where they are turned into fentanyl then smuggled across the US Mexican border. The distance from Venezuela to the nearest US landfall is 1100 miles. Those boats have outboard motors only and would need 10 to 15 re fuelling stops at sea to go that distance. They are mostly fishing boats, or at worst, low level fuel and currency smugglers to other Central American countries ( Not the US).

It’s basically murder at sea and a war crime inspired by Trumps desire for regime change in oil rich Venezuela.
There are signs of uneasiness amongst American legal circles. They have brought in laws absolving the military from war crimes liability but unfortunately for Trump and Hesgeth it won’t be tried in the US but in the International Court in The Hague which takes precedent and will follow the precedents set at Nuremberg and Tokyo that following orders is no defence.
It’s why the Royal Navy have quietly and discreetly withdrawn from that particular operation and are not aiding and abetting the Americans by sharing information and intelligence for fear of complicity.
It’s also no coincidence that the boats are destroyed and survivors finished off. They don’t want any witnesses. With an entire battle fleet in the area they could quite easily board these boats and take prisoners but they know they won’t find any fentanyl on board, which removes Trumps excuse to invade Venezuela and seize the oil.
Ps you’d better call that Ambulance back Lego! 💤💤💤.

Thanks Norfolk! By the way I’m increasingly getting alarmed by the parallels between Trump and Hitler.
Both democratically elected
Both fostered the myth that they weren’t defeated (Hitler on WW1 Trump on Bidens election win)
Both survived assassination attempts
Bith blame ethnic minorities for their countries woes
Both offer desperate and down trodden people a vision of a great future golden age
Both expansionist and militaristic.

Both wrote books explaining their world view, ( Mein Kampf and The Art of the Deal ( although Trumps book was ghost written ) ……
The only differences I can see is that Hitler was a soldier in WW1 decorated and wounded, Trump a draft dodger and Hitler hated Russia Trump loves it….

As a rough rule of thumb I generally follow the old saying that you believe nothing you are told and only half what you read ( until you’ve made your own enquiries). Served me well in the Police and life generally.
By the way, as I predicted and right on cue, oil tanker and contents seized by the US fleet. I’d imagine the next step will be to “arrange “ a provocation (perhaps Venezuelan air force plane coming too close? ) to facilitate ground invasion by overwhelming American Forces?
It’s the American way of war. Like the USS Maine destroyed in Havana Harbour in 1898 ( 200 plus American dead) and blamed on Spain whereas in fact one of its boilers blew up.

This led to the one sided American Spanish War ( lasted 4 months, the US Government and press fuelling blame with the motto “ Remember the Maine and to hell with Spain) Spain defeated and Guam, the Philippines, Cuba and Puerto Rico taken over by the Americans. History always repeats itself…….
If you get time have a read of “The Untold History of the US” by Oliver Stone ( film director Platoon etc ) and Peter Kuznick. Also have a look at some of Al Murray’s stuff ( pub landlord but also Oxford history Graduate) particularly “Command. How the Allies Learned to Win WW2”.

Sorry Lego, at this rate, mate, you are never going to get out of hospital…. 😂😂😂🙄🙄
Norfolk, I know you like your Dickens, mate. I’ve just finished reading “Demon Copperhead” by Barbara Kingsolver, a modernized version of the great “ David Copperfield “ set in the modern druggie world in Virginia USA.

It’s a hard but brilliant read. I liked her “Poisonwood Bible “ from a few years ago too.

No, Legolas sir, but I do enjoy his contribution and determination to inform us. I hope this site doesn't count as social media as DT will ban him from the States for the World Cup, after the last excellent post from him.

( This post is better than the efforts of my very average lecturers at University in the 8o's).
Getting seriously worried about America now and how the media is being used RRR!
Your posts make me chortle as well Lego!

Norfolk I’m afraid we have decided not to go to the US whilst DT is President already. We did have trips to Savannah and Charleston plus cruises down the Mississippi and St Lawrence Seaway but they have been put on a back burner sadly …….
We are perhaps being over cautious but with his latest dictums on social media checks going back 5 years etc it’s a no from us.
Recently read Julia Boyd’s excellent book “Travellers in the Third Reich…the Rise of Fascism through the eyes of everyday people”.
The Nazis were very welcoming to us Brits for all sorts of cultural and political reasons and everyone forgets that WW1 was fought mainly in France with very little if any damage done to Germany ( unlike WW2 when it was flattened).

Hard to imagine that Hitler personally was very welcoming and charming.
There’s an amazing photo in the book of Adolf posting and smiling with the family of a respectable Bournemouth GP including his 4 daughters. The Doctor proudly displayed it in his Surgery Waiting Room for years until War broke out and the local Bobby popped in and suggested it might be advisable to hide it somewhere for the time being ….

Yes, Stokey it was the ruling classes that seemed to have a fascination with the far right, and it seems to be trying hard to bear its teeth in Europe ATM. Watching closely as new people are emerging with smooth PR and crisp haircuts, (and financial backing from nefarious individuals. ), thinking of the French guy with Farage!

Bowie will be in floods of tears reading what you've put about his messiah, King Lord Trumpty. Trumpty's issue with Venezuela and Nigeria is purely about oil. Nothing else.

{Ed001's Note - Venezuela's large cache of rare earth minerals, which are currently untapped, would beg to differ.}

Ed 1 Venezuela is, like the Middle East, cursed by its geology. Apart from the rare earth it has an estimated 300 BILLION barrels of oil reserves and produces only a fraction of that due to lack of investment and infrastructure. Chevron, the American company, extracts around 20% of what is actually brought up but they, and Trump, see a win win situation. Trump, with his serial insider trading expertise will create enormous personal wealth for himself and the US will, with a new compliant Venezuelan Government installed, get cheap oil on its doorstep with non of the volatility of the Middle East to worry about.

Once he’s installed his own “oligarchs” it will be straight out of the Putin playbook….
Of course, many Venezuelans ( and some Americans) will have to die before that comes to pass but I guess that s just “collateral damage “….

Agree1

{Ed001's Note - many already have died and been dumped at sea sadly. What a crap world we live in.}

12 Dec 2025 17:10:09
Its collateral damage if the US or their allies do it, Stokey. Any other country does it and its murder. Western hypocrisy and sanctimony at its finest.

Ravers, mate, it was meant ironically hence the quotation marks. It is murder and the deaths of around 80 people on the boats is a war crime as I posted earlier. Hence the order to kill a couple of survivors from one of the destroyed boats ….

like any gangster they don’t want witnesses to appear at the International War Crimes tribunal in The Hague in the future.

Good post from Legolas down the thread needs a mention. Used to be a good site to chat on but quite personal attacks from the odd member or two has made me now mainly post elsewhere.

It’s a broad church being a Forest fan, but there is one poster in particular that I am sure is a Derby fan in disguise- just here to sew division and disruption without contributing anything meaningful.

You know who you are and yes you’ve been rumbled.

I don't think so DTP. Have you noticed that Stokey is always trying to blindside us with his long, historical/ poetic posts? This is just a diversion technique. I met with the guy once and, frankly, I'm sure that it wasn't his cheap aftershave that made him smell of, umm, sheep-dip.

You have to be very careful when dealing with pigs though Winter. Under-cooked pork can infest a human gut with serious bacteria. I prefer cooking any pigs that I come across very well done on the BBQ. Delicious, and I also view it as a service to society.

Frog - I've just re-read this thread and thought just how much it emphasises and builds on both of our original posts. Let's face it, there can sometimes be a thin line on this site between p'taking banter between people who like and respect each other, as opposed to open hostility between posters who don't take to each other.

We are, indeed, a broad church being Forest fans. All of us are individuals and some, naturally, won't get on with others. All I'm saying is that we are all part of 'the same clan' and I suppose it's down to each individual's boundaries. Personally, I just don't like open hostility. No need for it IMO.
