Shoot me down in flames but how about Sam Surridge as a backup striker for Delap?

Scoring for fun in the MLS still only 28!

In the MLA, mate, ...
Not for me.

I would never shoot ya down in flames, Munmad, bud. But, I've got a good idea to put you out. 🫒

Has everyone watched Liam Delap's interview in the Forest changing rooms?
He actually looks like he could be Chris Woods' love child. πŸ˜† 🀣 πŸ˜‚

Disastrous signing. Watch it all go south. No pedigree, done nothing to date. How the hell they arrived at 50 million is beyond me.

27 Aug 2026 12:31:14
It's more likely to be 40 million plus add ons, but I agree, ridiculous. Buying a striker today costs an outrageous amount, but the proof will be in the pudding. I can't imagine he'll be fit for several weeks.

2

27 Aug 2026 13:24:50
What do you mean "us", Skeggs? Delap has signed for Forest, not Leicester. They couldn't afford one of his shoelaces arm. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

I welcome Delap and hope he proves his doubters wrong. Like all centre forwards, he relies on the ball being delivered to him, ie wingers!! There is a report about OG getting Mateta firing, so he seems to know what he is doing.

There will be some other signings, I am sure, before the deadline. Harvey Elliot is another footballer who seems to be at the wrong club, who would be well worth signing.

Yeah, same as Nononou. He will add a bit of spice at the top of the pitch. Hope he is in decent shape.

Delap confirmed, now an away day at Anfield. Glasner knows how to get results against them, so we'll see. Hopefully MGW is fully recovered, Big Diomande didn't look fit against Leeds midweek. I would imagine Delap is in the same boat as Dio. Onwards and upwards gents, time to get some points on the board. 🌳

On refection of the past weeks, I am totally of the opinion that we are in for another poor season. I had a sneaky feeling that Leeds would turn us over, but not twice in 4 days!

OG may well have been an excellent coach in the past, but coaches break down, ask the owner of Skills! OG isn't working in my opinion, nor is his system of wing backs. I can't see any desire from the players on the pitch, in the two games, like we had at the back end of last season.

VP had the players eating out of his hands, and his coaching staff were working wonders. Some of the set plays were incredible and fruitful.

We have had two competitive matches, failed to score in both. We had 2 half's of football in some silly warm up pre season, didn't score a goal.

Forest let Taiwo go to Coventry, 3 minutes into his debut for the Sky Blues and Taiwo scores!

I am of the opinion that the recruitment team have let us down as fans, they've let OG down, because he hadn't got the squad he wanted and now OG is just waiting for Mr M to pull the plug! They have left it far to late AGAIN, so we will end up panic buying lower class players.

I'm not a football coach, I'm a simple hard working (retired) money paying fan of the team I love. Yes, I am very concerned about this season. Ending up back in the Championship, with our best players jumping ship!

I hope I'm wrong!

I agree with some of what you say.

Under any normal situation, Glasner MUST be given time to implement his trophy-winning system and his approach.

He started slowly at Palace, lost some of their best players, but ended up giving them the two most successful seasons in their history. He is a superb Premiership manager.

But, and it should probably be in capitals, we know what M is like. Maybe he will want to give OG proper time, but who knows, other than he hasn't really with anyone else.

The recruitment this year for several clubs has been late - but ours seems overly late and we are on profit post Delap (do we need to save money?). I worry about midfield, and whether the personnel we have match the OG system (which he must be allowed to develop).

But then again, what is the plan for recruitment? Maybe we will go and hoover up 2-4 names of players in a mini version of what we had last summer (which itself went badly).

With 3 out of 4 relegation scrapes to date, getting a 4th in 5 would not be a surprise. Plus, it feels to me like, post Anderson, we have a big hole, whilst the rest of the Prem is generally improving.

We need to support OG as he is the real deal. Whether he gets given that time, if he doesn't get results early, is an entirely different question, and something none of us have much influence over at all.

Either way, we know deep down that we need MGW on fire all season.

Great post Keef! Brilliant point about VPs set piece coaching work. Let's hope Mr M has got him on speed dial to bail us out again... Although, personally, after the disgraceful and disrespectful way he's been treated by our owner (and not for the first time), I'd wash my hands of him.

Agen, good post mate.
I have 3 problems with OG, despite his past successes….
Firstly, as you rightly say, he needs time to implement his ideas, something no manager has ever got under our owner.
Secondly, his tactics and formations are, as Ed 1 ( that most perceptive of commentators) a strange fit at Forest, particularly his preference for wing backs rather than the expensive wingers we recruited to fit the VP system.
Thirdly, whilst I always fully support the incumbent Forest manager and pray that he succeeds, is his really a great Premiership coach rather than just a good one? At Palace he had some world class players. So, he won an FA Cup after playing minnows up to the quarter finals then scraped past an off colour Man City in the Final.

As for the Conference I reckon I could win that with Bulwell Town….
He couldn’t beat us at the WFCG with an extra man for the majority of the game after Neco was rightly sent off. In fact, he came close to losing it to 10 nen and seemed bereft of ideas. And who could forget the humiliation at Macclesfield.
A part of me also thinks he came to us as a stop gap because he’d burnt his bridges at Palace and didn’t get one of the β€œbig” jobs at Man City, Utd, Chelsea or Liverpool….
I would be very very happy to be proved wrong …

Stokey, very fair point, and I don't deny the central issue of squad balance versus his intransigent tactics/style. That's again why we will still recruit (but should have done far earlier).

Amazing to think that Trafford went for less than Delap.

Agen, strikers always cost more than players in other positions, generally. There are exceptions, of course, such as Rice and Anderson, but it would be interesting to see a comparative table based on positions.

1

27 Aug 2026 18:50:23
So you're saying strikers cost more than players in any other position. 🀣🀣 How long did it take you to Google that? As they say, no s*** Sherlock. 🀣🀣

27 Aug 2026 20:37:26
I’m afraid it’s another spectacular own goal from you Skegs. If you’d read my post properly you’d have seen the word β€œ generally β€œ. I also mentioned the 2 players Rice and Anderson midfielders not strikers. So, no I’m not saying that strikers cost more than midfielders.

Anyone who knows anything about football ( which you don’t clearly) will know that the most expensive players aren’t in fact out and out strikers.

Without googling im saying Roger’s, Isak ( a winger) Rice, Anderson, Calceido and Wirth, all midfielders.
It would be interesting to know a table comparing the cost of players in different positions and getting an average cost.
Try and keep up mate. Words are important as I keep telling you. πŸ™„πŸ™„

Liam Delap, the next Harry Kane.

Mark my words.

Keep the Faith.

From what I saw of him live last year at Chelsea on a few occasions, he was more like Michael Caine... But I pray to God you are right.

What a major concern of mine for our club is who is in charge of recruitment of new players. Today we hear Watkins has left AV for 50m. Did we bid for him? We let a Moreira go out on loan - a wing back, yet we are in for another Brazilian one.

We sell Awonyi for a mere 9M but keep Jesus. On whose radar was the new central defender? If all these decisions were OGs I would be resigned to see how they work out. You can blame Big M as the buck will always be with him.

However he bankrolls our club and he is the reason we enjoy premiership football today. I have not enjoyed the first two matches of the season. Perhaps OG now understands the players better. There is no doubt all fans should be 100% supportive. There is no alternative. You have to believe it will come right. My understanding was a similar situation occurred with his previous club at the beginning.

Strangely I think the fate of OG will be up to the fans. The reaction to Posta-no-clue was unbelievable- I have never heard anything like it. Chanting, and boos, a very negative feeling around WFCG. That after only a small handful of games.
Looking at the fixture list we could well be in the bottom three after 5 or 6 games. How will the fans react?
Patience really is needed. I did think this may happen after a couple of those preseason games which were awful.

Score a few goals and still lose- the fans may buy into the longer term approach.
Lose without scoring and it’s a whole different kettle of fish. We are in unprecedented times, no club can keep changing managers at this rate and survive in their respective divisions. It must affect the players. There you have it. Support OG through this sticky patch or be prepared to really suffer. It’s up to us as fans to make the choice.

Well, if he gets the boot after 6 games, that will be 2 million a game plus extras. Doubt he'll moan, then end up at a club with a proper owner & win more silverware.

2

27 Aug 2026 13:31:43
He would fit the mold of our owners' managerial appointments, Larry. Mostly 2 years' wages for 2 months' work.

Today's posts include some heartfelt contributions with valid perspectives, in addition to some that are sarcastic in tone. On a more serious note, I anticipate a challenging season ahead. It is difficult to understand why Marinakis would replace VP, who had the team performing harmoniously, only to be dismissed.

Does OG possess the cunning and resolve required to successfully implement his strategic approach with the team?
Stability is essential, but results are needed as soon as possible, otherwise another roll of the will be on the table.
Hoping things will balance out for the greater good.

5

26 Aug 2026 22:35:52
A very fair post. If we are guaranteed one thing with Marinakis, it is change. Last year, it was repeated change when it went wrong (or didn't go well quickly enough), but also change even when it went well (VP).

So, logically, if OG has a tough 6/7 matches, he will come under pressure, and he could even get the chop, therefore.

Let's hope it doesn't get to that. I can see us Supermarket Sweeping over the next week to get more signings, and let's hope there's enough in that. There's probably no great plan; it doesn't appear to have been since we came back.

What is intriguing about OG is that he is 100% his own person. He speaks his mind and is direct. So he could well clash with M even more than others (albeit both parties will have known that).

One thing is also for sure - OG is a very good manager. What he achieved with Frankfurt and also Palace was remarkable really. He's the real deal but that doesn't mean he will get the time and kind of support he probably needs.

26 Aug 2026 23:16:27
Very good and reasoned posts, guys. I still can't quite believe that Mr M threw out a coach, VP, who had our team cohesive, playing great football, and winning games. It simply doesn't make sense.

I don't buy into the debates about who is the better coach. I don't care. For me, I'm a great believer that the 'proof of the pudding is in the eating'. VP had Forest in the perfect place. Big M has ruined that.

2

26 Aug 2026 23:20:38
L, can't argue with that. VP did a remarkable job.
