I said on here a week ago that we always seem to struggle to get deals over the line but this business with Ousman Diamonde is different gravy apparently we risk losing him because of an impasse over add ons.
02 Aug 2026 10:06:43
If we lose him we didn't really want him in the first place. Mr M will not be paying out more than he has to for a player. Just cause we sold Anderson for silly money, and he has a wedge in the bank.
02 Aug 2026 11:05:20
The sage has spoken, seems my opinion is wrong again. π
02 Aug 2026 11:45:34
Why have I said your opinion is wrong? It might be the case. With every bad team selection, you try and get it right, but never have. π€£π€£ Im just saying what Glasner said in an interview, coming from his mouth, we won't be spending silly money to recruit a player, my dear Madmun.
02 Aug 2026 13:34:41
The only Sage Skeggs now's is the one in his stuffing.π€£.
Marinakis needs to leave the recruitment side alone.
His meddling will cause obstacles.
02 Aug 2026 13:55:09
Ripley, do you mean (knows)? π€£π€£π€£ Just asking. π
02 Aug 2026 14:53:23
P.S. I didn't see anyone moaning about his meddling in the MGW transfer to Spurs. Just saying.
03 Aug 2026 13:17:08
I did in fact mean Knows.
Void of sleep, my friend. π
02 Aug 2026 08:20:11
Keep forgetting to say, although I joke Jesus can play anywhere, Dan Ndoye has the attributes of a wing back and should be coached to play there. We still should buy another wing back though.
02 Aug 2026 08:50:02
Ndoye could be the answer to our RWB position, as he plays there for Switzerland, but it depends whether OG wants Neco to play there, in which case we only have Luca Netz as a natural LWB.
imo, it makes sense to play both Williams and Netz on their natural side if they are expected to put crosses in the box.
02 Aug 2026 10:31:01
Yes, I think Ndoye could do us a job. He's played in that position for us but can't remember when or who against. Managed not to get injured, oddly enough.....
02 Aug 2026 14:28:15
Was against Middjytland in October.
Think he might have scored.
02 Aug 2026 06:02:12
Great managerial appointment, utterly laughable recruitment. Big M needs to sort this out or we will be in real trouble again. I just canβt understand how teams like Bournemouth and Brighton operate so effectively in the transfer market yet we seem to struggle so badly. Itβs obvious we need recruitment in at least three key positions. Glasner wonβt put up with this for long.
02 Aug 2026 08:34:04.
I mentioned this in a separate post and received significant criticism. It is quite embarrassing. I believe the low offers being circulated are hindering our progress and allowing other clubs to gain an advantage.
Forest appears hesitant and has demonstrated limited intent or ambition thus far.
But when the first love of Marinakis needs a player, we end up paying for the privilege.
Some posters here believe, without additional players, we will finish higher than last season. Unbelievable and delusional.
No wonder Glasner has a payout clause. Smart move!
02 Aug 2026 23:14:48
Ripley . We won't be starting the season with no new players.
We will finish higher than last season. Keep up the pessimism, someone has to do it.
Every summer the same. Most clubs hold out for the most money they can get... Fans get jittery and start crying because their owner won't throw money away. Seen it all before... At least we aren't starting the season with a Judas who will try to get themselves fired for a big payout and a better job...
01 Aug 2026 19:40:40
I sense at the conclusion of OGβs post-match interview on Forest TV after the Sporting Lisbon defeat, that his patience with the slowness of incoming transfers is wearing a bit thin.
The brilliant Confederate Cavalry Commander Nathan Bedford Forrest is attributed with the famous quote on the basic aim of warfare, which is βto get there fastest with the mostest.β
Our recruitment is neither, and we donβt appear to have learnt from previous sluggish pre-seasons.
My opinion on incomings hasnβt changed. Four maximum. Bergvall for Ando, whatever it costs, beef up the goalkeeper department, Diomande from Sporting, a ball-playing dominant centre back and Mateta if heβll come, otherwise Iβd stick with Wood and Taiwo, then review things in January.
As a long shot, if we donβt get Diomande, take a gamble on the fitness of John Stones, one-year contract with option of extension?
Schlager is a freebie so doesnβt count imo.
Thoughts?
01 Aug 2026 20:28:33
Bring Dyche back quickly. πππ
01 Aug 2026 20:32:27
We need at least one wing back.
01 Aug 2026 20:54:23
We need a Dyche back. ππππ
01 Aug 2026 20:58:41
Perhaps ideally 67, mate. But we are flexible, as Nico and Aima are comfortable right and left, plus we have Netz. In emergency, Murillo can play left wing back, although, according to some people, playing out of position can cause serious injury...
01 Aug 2026 21:03:12
Murillo can play left wing back? πππππ
01 Aug 2026 21:09:34
Stones gone. Keep up.
01 Aug 2026 21:14:05
How dare you tell Google Stokey to keep up? ππππ
01 Aug 2026 21:15:36
Moreira?
01 Aug 2026 21:46:03
Honestly.
Murrillo is not a wing back.
However, Ndoye has played there for Switzerland.
Maybe Cho, Hutchinson, and Bakwa might even be used there occasionally if we are chasing a game. We seem to have a lot of wingers in the squad for a coach who doesn't use them.
01 Aug 2026 22:02:34
We all know Murillo can't play left back or centre midfield barring a few, 67. ππ
01 Aug 2026 22:17:50
He is our most talented centre back.
I doubt you hear Liverpool fans suggesting Van Dyke should play full back.
Or, back in the day, Ferdinand and Terry.
01 Aug 2026 22:21:38
Always said the same, 67.
01 Aug 2026 22:55:32
"In emergency" are the key 2 words there, I think. I never mentioned centre midfield at all.
Obviously, at the University of Life, they don't teach reading or physiotherapy in relation to injuries caused by playing football in a different position.
I'd ask for my money back.
Obviously, if I'd used Google, I could have checked the John Stones situation, but I found it causes less problems to just guess...
01 Aug 2026 23:03:11
John Stones went there days ago, Stokey.
I've been camping in a field, but knew that.
Quit trying to be clever, it really don't suit. π
01 Aug 2026 23:10:22
Murillo obviously "can" play left wing back because he has. Can't you remember? Perhaps it's you that should keep up?
Also, there you go again speaking on behalf of everybody. "We all know".... really? Typical dictatorial mindset.
Bse, Ferdinand, Terry and Van Dyck were such talented players, they could play anywhere in theory, but they were specialists at centre back, and lacked Murillo's pace (but were exceptionally good in the air), therefore not as versatile as our man.
I thought you'd have recognised that tbh.
01 Aug 2026 23:23:10
You've seen Murillo play there, so have we all, and he didn't want to. Did you see that, Stokey?
01 Aug 2026 23:27:55
He played there once against a very poor Malmo team.
I think he will be needed at centre back when available. We need to get that Diamonde deal done. I like Cunha, but the thought of Morato being a starter week in week out doesn't fill me with confidence.
02 Aug 2026 07:06:32
Morato should never play again, I've seen barges turn quicker.
02 Aug 2026 08:15:48
Murillo has the ability to play any position. He's so versatile, he's already completed the Kama Sutra. Not sure whether he has the stamina to play box-to-box wing back though.
We definitely need another wing back, Stokey, if we are going to play a back 3.
Wing backs can't play 100 minutes every game covering that many yards, so you need two fit on each flank.
Ideally, a good number 9 and midfielder are needed, and a CB. GK isn't a priority.
02 Aug 2026 08:41:37
Agreed with most of that Cyclist, as per my original post mate. OG will be assessing our back up wing backs Netz and Moreira and deciding whether we need Read ?
GK will suddenly become high priority if Sels becomes unsvailabke and we are faced with the nightmare of Victor in goal week in and week outβ¦β¦
DTP, are you in contact with Murillo? Did he tell you he didnβt want to play at left wing back? If not, who did he tell? Or is it another βeverybody knows thisβ fabrication.
Honestly, Iβm glad I never had to follow you into the witness box at Crown Court mate πππ«£
Why are you camping in a field ? Has the house and garden been repossessed? ππ
02 Aug 2026 11:12:46
I mentioned in a previous post (which you and Bse have conveniently forgotten, or couldnβt read) that I pay very little attention to the dozens of players linked to us over the window. Unless they are actually incoming, Iβll read a summary when itβs all done and dusted, if it involves our immediate opponents.
Typically, small-minded to try to make a federal case out of it.
02 Aug 2026 12:21:35
We should have put Murillo in as coach instead of Dyche. He would have definitely done a better job. π€£π€£π€£
01 Aug 2026 18:30:19
On the Nottingham Live match report it says Sarah Clapson is an experienced sports reporter. Her ratings for Zak Abbott, McAtee and Jesus of 5/10, 8/10, 8/10 reflects that she doesn't know what she is talking about. These journalists could end up getting our club relegated with their talking players up in pre-season matches. My ratings based on what I saw: Abbott 0/10, McAtee 3/10, Jesus 4/10.
With Jesus demonstrating, as he did last season, when he gets the ball he can't run nor beat players. Very happy about the Schlager signing - he looks a skilful, mobile, hard working player like Gibbs-White but we need more better players and to get rid of the one's that nearly got us relegated last season.
01 Aug 2026 19:15:56
It's gonna be a long season, RHR. We ain't even kicked off yet, and you're that down, they have taken your shoelaces & tie off you already.
01 Aug 2026 19:19:22
Abbott looked like someone they'd found outside the ground, asked if they fancied a game cus they were one short.
01 Aug 2026 19:26:09
We're doomed, I tell yer, we're doomed.
Experiment to see every player in preseason, two in one day.
Chill.
01 Aug 2026 19:27:45
We need new blood. Maybe a couple of players, just enough to lift what we have. It's all well and good being about value for money and sell-on value, but if Mrm wants European football next season, then we have to bring in the best of what's available. Otherwise it's going to be the same old story: "Well, we only lost by one nil, better luck next time." One nil or four nil doesn't matter.
We have to have a squad that can beat the best, or don't bother. Build your fantasy stadium, but see what good it does you in the Championship.
01 Aug 2026 19:41:18
π€£π€£π€£π€£ Living the Glasner Jesus Mr M dream uredddssss uredddssss.
01 Aug 2026 19:59:50
Red hot Red, mate, don't take this the wrong way, but you could put a damner on a funeral.
01 Aug 2026 20:21:05
Shoe laces and tie π€£, Balloons. π€£ π³
02 Aug 2026 08:17:22
Stop slagging off Jesus. He's a part of the Holy Trinity. Clough, Taylor, and Jesus. He will keep improving even if he isn't first choice. I think he will be playing as one of two No 10s, not as a number 9.
01 Aug 2026 17:19:30
Wood probably lost a yard, bless him. Still a legend for me, and still be used for height.
Jesus needs a yard and cannot be reliable for height.
Leaves us mgw to score.
Bottom half struggle for me. Unless Glasner had this lot training at Hogwarts over the summer.
Come on the lot of ya, face it.
01 Aug 2026 17:37:55
Always an optimist, me mate.
Otherwise, no point.
01 Aug 2026 17:44:05
Living the Jesus dream. π
01 Aug 2026 18:05:12
"I Dooooon't Beeeeliiieve It!!!!"
Myself either, mate, DTP!!!!.
π΄π΄π΄
π€£π€£π€£
01 Aug 2026 18:36:32
Nothing negative at all dtp, optimism isn't a belief that things will automatically get better, it's a conviction that things can get better.
01 Aug 2026 18:42:08
We will do well this season, mate.
01 Aug 2026 19:00:30
What is this side lacking that the one that qualified for Europe had?
I think the squad is better now.
01 Aug 2026 19:02:59
I'm with Bowie on this.
Not keen on Glasner's formation with the current players.
No out-and-out wingers, and you're missing a lot of goals from the team.
Williams and Aina hardly prolific with their shooting, and inconsistent with their crosses.
Yes, we had Europe to contend with, but this same group of players struggled for consistency last season, and were near the bottom for the majority of the season.
In answer to Cyclist's question of who we are missing from the side that qualified for Europe, an on-fire Elanga and Anderson.
01 Aug 2026 19:20:40
We aren't playing low-block counter-attack, so Elanga is irrelevant now. Anderson will be missed. We do have some decent midfielders. One more, and I'm not so worried.
If Glasner is as good as people are saying, we'll do well this season.
The squad is not bad.
We are a wing-back and midfielder short, though, for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if we spend on an attacker, it will be someone who can play across the front line, unless a really good number 9 becomes available.
01 Aug 2026 19:31:01
First defeat in pre season and it's the end of the world for Nottingham Forest.
01 Aug 2026 19:33:33
Ismailer Sarr scored 21 goals for Palace last season, with 9 coming in the league.
A very similar player to Elanga, quick and direct.
They relied heavily on him in Glasner's system.
We definitely need another wing-back and midfielder, like you say.
01 Aug 2026 19:40:03
It's probably coming though, Fred?
01 Aug 2026 19:45:46
Hopefully, mate.
I've no doubt Glasner is a top manager, and delighted we've got him.
I'm just concerned about our players adapting to his system, when we've always played and been so dependant on wingers.
01 Aug 2026 19:46:55
All Glasner is doing is giving game time to every player to evaluate who he wants in his squad.
Results are irrelevant in preseason, and I have not seen a club play two in one day before.
Just saying.
01 Aug 2026 19:56:48
Think the World Cup has got in the way of signings, Fred?
Other than Spurs, not a lot happening, but these are multi million deals and have to be right.
If I were a Newcastle supporter, I'd be seriously worried. Is all I can say.
01 Aug 2026 20:26:10
World Cup definitely got in the way, even though players were in the shop window.
We've done ok in pre-season up until yesterday, but try telling the ones that were up in arms last season, when we barely scored a goal, that it doesn't matter. π
01 Aug 2026 20:44:10
Comrs to basics Fred, "Find me a natural goalscorer apart from Wood, who's actually applied for PIP?"
01 Aug 2026 21:05:24
We did ok, once Dyche left, scoring goals, Bowue.
01 Aug 2026 21:21:38
Yes Hudson, one trick pony, Aina, more sick notes than Peter Sutcliffe. Sangare lost the plot in the 2nd half. It was never about scoring, dtp. But survival. The defence did an amazing job. Simples, bud.
01 Aug 2026 21:27:42
I'm not in the least bit worried about the season coming.
01 Aug 2026 21:46:26
Dtp, im here ta love them, not to punish. All my posts are from my heart. π«΅
01 Aug 2026 22:00:12
Please don't take this the wrong way but what have you actually seen to come to this conclusion?
I've seen nothing to be worried about
Newcastle have lost all their best players plus the coach reseigning, now that's when you start worrying
Other than spurs not many sides have added to their squads
Like iv'e said world cup got in the way of transfers
01 Aug 2026 15:47:52
First proper team we play and we lose 4-1. Tells you a lot? Or just a friendly try-out?
01 Aug 2026 16:42:00.
Squad played two games same day.
So split squad, so very hard to take a view on the result.
01 Aug 2026 17:26:01
Very funny, Redtreekeef!!!!
π€£π€£π€£
01 Aug 2026 19:01:42
Tells you nothing when they are almost ready to start the season, and we are in the intense double schedule every day, so wacked.
01 Aug 2026 14:09:48
Who thinks Liam Delap would be a good signing?
01 Aug 2026 15:15:54
I'm not sure we need a striker unless we sell Kalimuendo. Awoniyi, him and Jesus are finding the net, and Woods is back. I'm not sure a striker is a priority. But, to be honest, he's young, he did well at Ipswich unless he was really cheap and Kali was sold on.
I wouldn't bother, no Europe this season. So not all strikers are going to get game time. Would I play him instead of Jesus, Woods, Awoniyi? No.
01 Aug 2026 15:18:40
Not me, he's slow and will never be a prolific scorer.
01 Aug 2026 15:36:46
This is the question I keep asking myself. To get better than Jesus, Wood, and Kalimuendo, we need to spend about Β£80M.
01 Aug 2026 15:53:13
Mateta a better bet.
01 Aug 2026 15:53:52
Unless you can find a diamond in the rough. You're talking 70 million plus, so probably Cyclist and a big wedge of a wage.
01 Aug 2026 15:58:40
I'm off my crutches now, new hip is spot on, so I'll throw my hat in the ring for a new striker - bugger pulled my shoulder out throwing my hat. π π€£ π
01 Aug 2026 16:21:34
I reckon if Mateta wanted to come, something would have happened. It's a bit quiet. We don't often spend a lot on "older" players, and Potato isn't that young.
He would be a different option, so I'd like to see it, but I'm not convinced it's on the cards.
01 Aug 2026 16:34:59
Even he isn't prolific at the price, Cyclist.
Goeykeres failed, imo, so we aren't in the top gamblers market.
01 Aug 2026 17:25:15
We definitely do need a striker or two. Jesus won't get many in the Premier League, Wood is on the decline, Awonyi has had long enough.
A while back, I thought Delap would be a good addition, not so sure now tbh.
He would be a big gamble.
01 Aug 2026 17:39:09
Blimey, Rogie, on a downer. ππ
01 Aug 2026 17:49:45
To play devil's advocate: Harry Kane broke through at Spurs aged 21. Delap is only a couple of years older. Neither are particularly blessed with pace. If we can't/don't want to sign Mateta, I can't think of another centre forward who would A: be willing to come to us and B: be available.
Unless we go down the road of looking across Europe again, and there aren't many who would come into the bracket of willing and available. As said above, decent centre forwards come at a premium. π³
01 Aug 2026 17:55:55
BTW, if the club are willing to blow the bank to get Delap in, why not look at Benfica's Evangelos Pavlidis, surely Mr M could sweeten him up. π³
01 Aug 2026 18:40:35
If Delap could not do it surrounded by top-class players, what makes you think he would do it at Forest?
He looks poor all round as a striker to me.
Bad touch for starters, and was very surprised Chelsea signed him, which then creates a wage problem for any club.
01 Aug 2026 18:52:20
The Devil's advocate part, and me providing an alternative, kinda gives it away that, while he has potential, I don't think he's a good signing.
Note to DTP: Read the posts properly. ππ³
01 Aug 2026 19:04:29
I think Jesus will do OK. Young players always do better in their second full season in a new country. Kalimuendo is a good player if he gets his confidence.
People think if they don't get 20 goals they are no good. Hardly any player does in the Prem now.
01 Aug 2026 19:36:28
It's you that needs to winter.
I put a question mark, no need to be aggressive. ππ
01 Aug 2026 20:19:45
Aggressive? You having a laugh? Or trying to stir the π© again? π³
01 Aug 2026 21:09:46
No, not all. You said I need to read?
No, it's you that needs to read, as I pointed out.
What's up, got something wrong again?
02 Aug 2026 09:38:12
Tedious as usual, muted my friend, bye bye. π
01 Aug 2026 11:14:50
Chelski: 74 breaches of FA rules, no points deducted; Forest: 1 breach, 4 points deducted. Thatβll be right then?
01 Aug 2026 12:16:20
"Nothing to see here".
π€―π€―π€―
01 Aug 2026 13:08:53
Maybe Donald Trump made a phone call, get the points deduction dropped (why were they dropped), and get the transfer ban suspended for 2 years!
It's one rule for these called big 6 clubs, and other rules for the rest! So Man City will probably get a 20 point deduction, suspended for 5 years! Well done Premier League for showing what's right!
01 Aug 2026 13:39:47
Difference between Chelsea and Man City. Is Chelsea owned up to charges and gave details about them when new owners took over. Man City, a whole different ball game. Im, like everyone else, expecting a massive points deduction. Whether it happens to come to the surface again and whether it is in my lifetime is a different matter.
01 Aug 2026 16:19:25
Whilst ever we all continue to subscribe to football in its current format, we're all accepting it for what it is. It's so obviously corrupt and favours the minority, so the majority should make a stand and refuse to play the clubs where there is an obvious corrupt bending of, or failure to implement, the rules.
01 Aug 2026 17:09:55
Problem is, mate, you can have a voice and walk away, but there are so many waiting to take your place.
Only demonstrations that would work are everyone taking their seats against City and then walking out after five minutes, but then that's detrimental to the team we support.
Tbh, corruption exists in all walks of life.
01 Aug 2026 08:33:14
This would be my team and formation to start against Leeds without any new signings.
Sels
Cunha
Milenkovic
Murrilo
Williams
Schlager
Sangare
Netz
McAtee
Gibbs Whit
Jesus.
01 Aug 2026 13:05:43
I'd go along with most of that, Munmad. I think Jesus is best behind a big striker and atm Taiwo is carrying on where he left off at the end of last season and deserves a shot up top.
Netz looks good and will provide good competition for Aina. The only real dilemma is who partners Sanghere and replaces Ando.
I'd love to see Bergvall in there. Young, big, skilful, experienced and dynamic, he looks the part. He played today against Chelsea and looked good.
As it stands, without him, the final spot in holding midfield is between Dominquez, Yates and Schlager, in that order.
01 Aug 2026 15:50:09
Murillo not fit. Sangare won't be up to speed. I'm dreading Leeds to be honest.
01 Aug 2026 15:57:45
Why our home record against Leeds is excellent.
01 Aug 2026 16:53:08
Get a white flag out then, while the rest of us look forward to it and react afterwards.
