Oh dear winter. ???
10 Jul 2026 07:44:38
The only difference this time is Infantino would save his own sorry ass!!
09 Jul 2026 16:19:34
To me Spence has proved himself and I hope he is picked on Saturday. It’s easy to forget what an important role he played in our season in the championship. I am concerned about Konsa vs Haaland, who better to mark him than Stones. All would agree how Stones, Burns and Spence were vital in our defence. TT might be open to criticism re the original selection of players for the World Cup, but really he has played a blinder managerially so far.
If any manager was going to outwit his opposition, my money would be on him. The 11 players Saturday may err, as that is human. TT can only prepare them. It is partly because of TT that I believe we will win the World Cup. Have one of the forthcoming matches I suspect will go to Penalties.

Good post, Nono. I wonder if he will pick 3 centre backs (Stones, Guehi and our own giant Burns) to combat Haaland's aerial prowess? Or will he follow Cloughie's famous dictum, "we don't worry about the opposition, we let them worry about us"? Spence and James wingbacks? 5 3 11?
For all that we cursed Tommy Tuchel for not taking MGW, he's got most things right with fairly scant resources, talent wise.
09 Jul 2026 13:58:17
Well, well, FIFA no longer hiding who they favour for the World Cup! They announced that Argentinians will ref the game ? ? ?
On first reading this, I thought it was a wind up, but it's true and lots of pundits and fans cannot believe that FIFA can be so blatantly bias!
Is this the last World Cup as we know it?
Will FIFA be investigated again?

It's a pretty incredible decision, isn't it, mate?
09 Jul 2026 18:12:04
Quansah is out for 2 games rather than the usual one, as it's been reclassified as "serious foul play".
If you thought this wasn't bent, think again, comrades ..zz.
09 Jul 2026 18:19:21
I wonder if a certain trump has had a hand in this, he doesn't want England winning the World Cup, A big thank you to our socialist government.
09 Jul 2026 19:53:43
You lot are just looking for excuses before a ball is kicked.
Just look forward to watching it and see what happens. I'd guess a good game, tbh, as Norway don't sit back. I doubt it will be about the ref at all.
09 Jul 2026 20:23:03
Hope it is a good and unbiased game, but every action has a consequence and our cabinet have called the most powerful person in the world everything from a pig to a dog for the last few years. Trump has never replied back and now the World Cup is in his backyard!, so let's see.
I want England to win never said I don't but we will be playing against 12 men. If I'm wrong then I will admit my mistake and apologise like always.
09 Jul 2026 20:42:14
Starmer has cocked it up anyway by saying he will give a bank holiday if we win the cup. ???
10 Jul 2026 09:04:22
To be fair Vale, our cabinet and Starmer particularly have gone out of their way ( to an embarrassing extent) to mollify and appease the orange man baby.
Like all of the other European countries, alert from Spain and ( latterly) Italy mate
And it's not Trumps style not to reply.
He's had plenty to say, as his underlings Vance and Hesgeth.
Like the Europeans, we are pretty good at this diplomacy thing. We should be, we've been at it 1500 years
10 Jul 2026 11:07:44
DTP, Starmer doesn't care what he says about Bank Holidays or anything else atm because he'll soon be out of power. He could promise free pints for every English citizen and a thousand quid in everyone's sky rocket but it means Jack ?. He's already yesterdays man and deservedly so mate.
09 Jul 2026 11:51:33
Very quiet on the transfer front both in and out. Pre season starts very soon
I’m sure Glad er knows how he wants to play but a bit confused as we are currently bidding for a right back?

Savona is leaving, isn't he?
08 Jul 2026 23:55:05
I for one want this fraudster World Cup out of the way, so that the mighty Reds can go on pi55ing more people off! Like Steve Parish!
I was looking forward to the World Cup, but after watching so many ridiculous ref or VAR calls, enough is enough.
Money ? is changing hands and I will put a bet on that Trump has a million dollars on Argentina to win the World Cup, Messi to get the Golden Goal/Ball/Boot and to win the next Copa America!
PS: I wonder how many illegal immigrants were in the stadiums, saying, what's going on!

09 Jul 2026 07:21:37
The reason why Argentina will win the World Cup is because they are the best team. Really, it is that simple.
09 Jul 2026 07:49:12
Hope we go in for this Givario Read. Looks a young, promising right back. Be happy with that signing.
09 Jul 2026 08:46:32
Argentina looked far from being the best team yesterday, Skeggs, and would have been on the way home but for some extremely dodgy reffing.
Besides which, your prediction, like all your other predictions so far, is the kiss of death for them.... ?????
09 Jul 2026 09:13:27
Day before yesterday... just in case you've got your pedantic head on, mate. ?
09 Jul 2026 13:51:17
Well, if any of your predictions were to become true, England will lose this weekend, because aliens have landed and took over the bodies of the ref and VAR. ? How did it go early hours of Monday morning? I know you said you wasn't going to watch it because it was all fixed for Mexico to win, but then I seen your post saying you watched it.
Make your mind up, Stokie. ??
09 Jul 2026 14:39:51
As usual, you've got it round your neck, Barry. I didn't make any predictions. I thought, with the altitude and a few other factors, the game was heavily weighted against England.
As it turned out, they heroically overcame enormous disadvantages and became only the 3rd team to win at that stadium in about 90 games.
Have a stop and think for a moment.
Mexico isn't all mountains, and they do have stadia at sea level. Why do you imagine they elect to play at the Azteca? Doh!
I wasn't going to watch it in the early hours, but I'm glad my prostate decided otherwise (plus the delayed kick-off).
So, Mexico 3 England 1, eh?
How much do you think Norway will win by?
? ? ?
09 Jul 2026 14:41:58
Aliens? You should cut back on the Stella a bit, Barry. By the way, has Paul retired and you're going solo?. ? ?
09 Jul 2026 15:10:11
Stokie Larry has better things to do at the minute than listen to your dribble. ? Actually, didn't you have better things to do, so you said, but obviously not. As your library ticket expired. ?
09 Jul 2026 17:54:46
Libraries! Now you're talking Skeggs. One of the worst things successive Governments ( mainly Tory) and local councils ever did was close libraries on cost cutting grounds. I think they paid for themselves in the long run tbh.
Education is provably heavily linked to GPD for example. The export of British literature brings hundreds of millions in in terns of national wealth.
I was a member of 4 libraries growing up (Basford. Bulwell, Aspley and Central) growing up as I couldn't get enough books to keep me going and you were only allowed to take out 3or 4 books a fortnight.
Luckily, University libraries were kept going and then later I was fortunate to be able to designate one of our bigger rooms as a study and have our own library, my wife also being an English graduate and published author.
On our cruise recently it was incredible to have a guided tour around the ruins of Ephesus in Turkey and in particular the library built in 100 AD then restored in the 1970's after an earthquake. It had around 12, 000 scrolls ( books and the printing press was 1300 years down the line). All this, whilst we were living in mud huts .
09 Jul 2026 19:37:20
Argentina would be out were it not for cheating. Egypt are hardly world beaters. ?
09 Jul 2026 19:56:33
Have you not heard of Kindle, Stokey? ???
09 Jul 2026 19:23:59
Not quite true, the defeatedBritish tribesmen still lived in mud huts in 100AD but the wealthier Romanized Brits ( who sided with the more advanced Romans), lived as Roman citizens in often palatial houses with running water, baths and servants .and libraries
09 Jul 2026 20:50:32
Yes, mate. Kindle is a necessary evil and I do use it. But we both look forward to our weekly trip to Waterstones...
09 Jul 2026 20:51:37
By 100 AD, British tribes relied heavily on stone built buildings, especially fortified structures. Particularly across the borders in Wales and Scotland. Many also in Cornwall, I've visited. So the mud hut thing is really true. ?
09 Jul 2026 20:53:32
Can't beat a bit of excitement weekly. ???
09 Jul 2026 20:58:33
Good job, we have closed down Waterstones shops to sleep in the doorways now.
09 Jul 2026 20:58:34
Kindle you old buggers. ? Books are on Spotify. ?
09 Jul 2026 21:10:32
They can be on anything you like for me.
The film is quicker. ????
09 Jul 2026 20:57:27
Also the idea of Roman held Britain wasn't really a thing, yes they controlled large parts of England, stretching from East Anglia up the Midlands and towards the Scottish boarders. But these territories were fragmented, many tribes successfully resisted for long periods and dare i say beat them back with overwhelming numbers.
The Romans failed in the West Country and Wales, so mainly kept their larger forces around their new capital of Londinum. ?
09 Jul 2026 22:46:14
Yeah, your Mrs said you were always too quick. ?
09 Jul 2026 22:59:19
I'm retired winter.
Keep up. ??
09 Jul 2026 23:13:48
Why do you have to finish every post, and, I mean, like, every post, with laughing emojis? Making up for something?. ?
09 Jul 2026 23:23:05
Why do you feel the need to reply to every post I put on? ??
09 Jul 2026 23:30:29
And why finish yours with a Christmas tree that you know nothing about?
They have leaves you don't know about. ?
10 Jul 2026 01:32:48
I only do in those wet dreams of yours. If you take the time to read, you never started this thread, thinking you own the site doesn't count for much when you don't. It's for everyone who wants to post.
And that neighbourhood watch thing of yours is non-existent. Only people with power here are the Eds, who do a fantastic job btw. Especially when they delete your chap posts. Emoji time.??????
10 Jul 2026 01:56:21
For the record Sir Richard, Botany is one of my specialist subjects, goes hand in hand with my job as a conservation officer for the National Trust. Christmas Trees don't exist you turd, well unless you buy one from Argos(with plastic needles). Firs, spruces, and pines, now they exist. Seems our resident green fingered expert is a phony. And a boring one at that. ?
10 Jul 2026 09:38:24
National Trust and conservation expert RRH. Respect, mate. You've got my vote every time! ??
10 Jul 2026 09:49:33
RRH, I must lay my hand on my heart, in all humility, to say that I genuinely have no idea what "Spotify" is. I'll ask my wife, she knows everything about everything, mate. ???
DTP, sadly it's not just Waterstones' doorways the homeless sleep in, mate. Our country is in the top 6 for wealth. So it's to this country's shame that this happens. Many are military vets too. Lego and others like him do the stuff that the state should be doing.
As for films being quicker, well, they are of necessity.
After all, who's going to sit in a cinema for 10 or 12 hours? That's a lot of popcorn. ? Films are a great art form, but you sometimes lose the nuances and background.
It's a bit like forming your opinion on how Forest are doing over a season by watching 5 mins of MOTD highlights every week, or listening to the radio, where you are counting on the commentator's skill and interpretation of what's happening.
08 Jul 2026 21:59:59
Judging by what we've seen so far at this World Cup, don't be surprised if Rice and Bellingham get booked for something obscure on Saturday, ruling them both out of the semi (if we win), which will most likely be against the so called "favoured" Argentina.

08 Jul 2026 22:24:01
I was thinking that too, Gazzi...
08 Jul 2026 22:51:39
Why?
The outcome will have nothing to do with that.
Why overthink everything?
It's a pointless, negative look anyway.
In fact, it's looking for an excuse before a ball is kicked.
08 Jul 2026 23:13:35
Isn't it hilarious how most of those slagging the team off are now on board. Funny how tunes change.
Anyway, let's not be negative, ay.
FIFA are as dodgy as Trump, and both are working hand in hand.
But stuff them both.
I will blindly support my club and country no matter what situation, why? Because they are both part of me.
COYR
Come on you Lions, all three of them. ?
08 Jul 2026 23:19:34
Have I said in that post I'm on board?
Keyboard wizard overlooking what I've said. ???
09 Jul 2026 01:32:43
I wish i was a wizard, I'd use 'Tediouseoso disappearence' on ya. ?
09 Jul 2026 06:17:27
No it's just we all know what you're thinking
09 Jul 2026 06:32:44
The only reason we won't win a game, like all them teams that have been knocked out, is because we weren't good enough. Simples.
08 Jul 2026 15:20:55
I see that Egypt have now put in a formal complaint about the referee and the fact VAR did not look at two penalty appeals by the Egyptians!
I agree ? with them!
This World Cup has lost all integrity in my eyes, the worst ever without a doubt.

An interesting article in the paper today. The combined debt of all the Premier League clubs has risen by almost a billion pounds since last season. Where is it all going to end?
08 Jul 2026 20:14:08
Hey, Keeff.
FIFA-Fix It For Argentina. ?
08 Jul 2026 22:54:55
It's done, move on. Nothing will happen, and Egypt only got themselves to blame for sitting deep and inviting trouble, which duly arrived in the ten minutes they tried it.
08 Jul 2026 11:43:17
See Vasco are after Jair Cunha on loan. We already have Cuiabano on loan and apparently Botafogo haven’t paid us for Danilo.
Our pre season starts 15th July and we have a new manager. His first job should be to have a look at the current squad and see how it suits his 3-4-2-1 formation and bearing in mind Cunha is a CB and Cuiabano is a left wingback.
Obviously a number 8 is a priority to replace Anderson as I don’t think Yates and Dominguez are the answer.
Currently I would set up below until we have a replacement for midfield and striker.
Sels
Cunha
Milenkovic
Murrilo
Aina
Dominguez
Sangare
Williams
MGW
McAtee
Wood/ Awoniyi.

McAtee going to Championship West Ham. Get some money back off him. Like I said, good Championship player.
08 Jul 2026 14:14:46
He's not been given a chance yet, recliner boy.
08 Jul 2026 14:39:21
For a reason. He's not up to it.
08 Jul 2026 15:50:51
Some said that about "Robbo"...
08 Jul 2026 16:00:33
Robbo never looked like a lightweight choirboy. ?
08 Jul 2026 16:09:31
Too right, RedFrog. ?
08 Jul 2026 16:25:15
He was exactly the opposite...
He seemed to do alright.
08 Jul 2026 16:26:03
Cloughie still got a "Tune" out of him!!
???
08 Jul 2026 17:36:58
Clough probably could get a tune out of McAtee if he was listening to a choir. ???
08 Jul 2026 19:10:05
"We'll talk about it, Skeggs, we'll get down to it... and after 20 mins, you'll realise I was right."
???
08 Jul 2026 20:38:25
According to VP, McAtee is the most talented player in the squad.
No doubt, with MGW playing his position, he hasn't had enough opportunities.
08 Jul 2026 21:17:57
It's a good job VP is gone then.
09 Jul 2026 12:58:41
You really are priceless; every time the wind changes, so do your opinions.
09 Jul 2026 15:30:11
That's right, moonmad, I am priceless. ?
08 Jul 2026 11:02:32
Another poor referee in the Egypt v Argentina game. How can VAR call the foul on the Argentina player to cancel Egypt's 2nd goal, then not give a penalty to Sala before Argentina scored?
Pi55 poor, but sadly it's the story of this World Cup!

There's an interesting read, Red, on the BBC football website arguing that the stats show Argentina have been treated far more favourably in many aspects. For example, they have received half as many bookings as England yet have committed twice as many fouls.
Very interesting. It's not all conspiracy theory. There are some facts to back it up.
08 Jul 2026 23:08:24
The World Cup sniffer dog has em bang to rights.
Always calling for back up. ????
09 Jul 2026 09:17:07
A rather baffling post, Dtp. You do know that Police sniffer dogs can't talk, don't you, and therefore can't call for back up?
Or are you turning into Stanley Unwin?
Or you could just read the article on the Beeb, and see what you make of it. ??????????

I share your optimism. I am confident we have 10 better players than Norway and probably 11 against Argentina. All of us would agree, to date, England have played attractive football; they did not sit back, ala Southgate, but continued to press.
Bellingham is probably the best footballer in the tournament. TT has got them playing well, and they will be prepared for France. I have a feeling the final, England vs France, might end up as penalties, but...... We will win.
08 Jul 2026 19:25:04
???? And I will win the lottery Saturday night.
08 Jul 2026 19:45:21
