Good post Ed. Would you be kind enough to explain your comment “outdated tactics” in relation to Forests players? This is a genuine question by the way, meant with good intent for my edification mate. Its good to get an outside perspective on things.
{Ed001's Note - it is all just sit back and defend then, if you get the ball, then it is lumped up to Jesus like he is an old school target man, despite him being weak in the air.}
09 Jan 2026 17:38:49
At last edd someone sees it exactly the way I do edd
That's why a striker won't necessarily make a difference.
09 Jan 2026 17:48:57
It's a great tactic against Liverpool away apparently.
09 Jan 2026 18:05:44
It's a shite tactic that also makes MGW look bad as everything by passes him.
09 Jan 2026 18:16:04
Mgw makes himself look bad traitor. sooner we sell him the better join the other judas at spurs.
09 Jan 2026 18:50:17
What other judas at spurs?
09 Jan 2026 19:11:49
Oh no forgot spurs got rid of that judas. ?.
09 Jan 2026 19:19:40
DTP making out he's the only one that noticed ? me me me, talk about narcissistic??.
09 Jan 2026 19:32:09
Get back to your classroom children ???.
10 Jan 2026 11:29:27
Thank you Ed. Much appreciated. That’s a good clarification.
It’s good to know exactly what we are talking about otherwise it becomes meaningless ( like the term Dyche Ball for example).
I used to get into tremendous trouble on Police “diversity” courses when I used to ask speakers what “Institutional Rascism ‘ meant and give me examples. Everyone bandied the term about but no one could actually define it. As for examples, after hours of waffle and obfuscation the only example they could come up with was height restrictions ( so some ethnic groups are physically and genetically not as tall as other groups) which were rightly scrapped as they were left over from the Victorian era.
I abhor sloppy thinking almost as much as I abhor rascism. It’s the same with “Dyche ball” and outdated tactics so I know now what to look out for …. ???.
09 Jan 2026 00:51:07
Miss the days of the 70s, no var stupid money in the game. brian Moore presenting a game of heart and fight. Interviews with the best ever footballing personalities, be it managers, pundits, or players just simple. But soooo very true. Bless em all who came and went that era. (Along with music for me tbh)

09 Jan 2026 01:09:15
Just what I miss tbh, the honesty and strength of the game. Without the fuss. Just simple heroes. ?.
09 Jan 2026 04:33:37
It's was good times Bowie. Ya didn't need half a weeks wages for a day out at the match and everything kicked off at 3.00pm and that was that for the week league wise.
09 Jan 2026 06:40:33
The muddy pitches, the painted banners, not forgetting the Real Characters, Best, Bowles, Marsh, Worthington, Currie, no characters in the game at all today.
09 Jan 2026 11:49:23
'Beer was at home with Davenports! ' Remember the words? Was it Hugh Johns doing the match commentary; Keith Macklin for Yorkshire?
09 Jan 2026 14:12:57
Jumpers for goalposts, muddy pitches, marvellous………????.
09 Jan 2026 17:24:26
Now it's Wayne Rooney ruling the airwaves with his erudite take on the Premier events.
Talk about diversity BBC? Wayne Rooney Podcast? Are the punters queuing up? Are there other more suitable candidates?
Anyway, get over it, or don't watch Norfolk!
Might be penalties in the mud tonight.
09 Jan 2026 17:53:21
Agree with a lot of that Bowie, but jeez, the state of the pitches back then.
Feck me, cabbage patches full of sand this time of year, they were hilarious:)
09 Jan 2026 18:16:04
60s we're even better, great memories but life isn't that bad now days, I've enjoyed every decade for different reasons tbh and still do.
08 Jan 2026 21:59:32
Watched the arsenal v Liverpool game, bit of a bore tbh
Nartinelli needs to be banned for what he did near the end
Throwing the ball at Bradley when clearly injured badly and then trying to drag him off the pitch
Disgrace.

08 Jan 2026 23:17:35
To be honest i didn't think what Martinelli did was that bad, yellow at worst. Liverpool players were going down left, right and centre trying to kill the game and Arsenal after being outplayed in the 2nd half were in a hurry sort of.
Could see that Arteta was actually happy with the point against the reigning champions. But yeah dire game, two teams that clearly have played to much football over the last few weeks and needed resting. ?.
09 Jan 2026 03:00:09
Slot was more magnanimous with his assesment of the incident, pointing out players going down feigning injury, players holding there head, goalies going down holding there legs, it's definitely something more prevalent now.
09 Jan 2026 06:41:50
I actually dosed off watching it!
09 Jan 2026 08:02:28
A storm in a teacup and an overreaction. This is what happens when players cheat and feign injury to waste time.
09 Jan 2026 16:48:12
Saying that dtp, I mentioned the old days earlier. I remember the few times I did play outfield sunday football, instead of keeper, if one of our players was getting lazy, or looked pathetic in the game.
For a throw in, I'd beckon them over close and throw the ball in their face ?? one of my old mates brought it up not long ago. I hated lazy players or day dreamers.
08 Jan 2026 21:59:30
Martinelli should be charged with gross unsporting conduct, fined heavily and banned for at least 3 games. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour. What are professional Premier League footballers coming to?

08 Jan 2026 22:06:20
Bang on rhr.
09 Jan 2026 08:04:06
There been to much cheating going on for years and Martinelli thought Bradley was at it to waste time. Nothing to see here.

08 Jan 2026 21:06:56
The joys of edus signings. I'm so lucking forward to his next signings. In fact I hope we sign nobody at least he won't be wasting anymore money.
08 Jan 2026 21:09:01
He wouldn't score goals under dyche tactics though mate.
08 Jan 2026 21:42:40
I am not a fan of Edu, have said before that his record at Arsenal not that great if you looked into it but to be fair I think the summer transfer window was crap for not only us, where I thought we needed 3 or 4 quality players to strengthen the team, not 13! Icant think of many successful transfers with any club in the summer transfer window, we overpaid like a lot of the other clubs.
The oy players that i can think of that has been a good buy that I would of liked to come to forest wo of been the keeper at brentford Kelleher.
08 Jan 2026 21:44:35
Skeggs you told me he was being sacked?
08 Jan 2026 21:56:51
Jesus had the ball to his feet all night long at West Ham and still no end product.
08 Jan 2026 22:09:18
Really?
There's a great picture doing the rounds rhr
It shows jesus isolated with five west ham players around him with no firest player in sight trying to control a ball
It's not his game mate.
08 Jan 2026 22:30:26
Jesus could have 5 goal nets in front of him and still not score.
08 Jan 2026 23:59:27
Skegs you could be building a sandcastle on skegness beach and have four blue buckets and one red one and still pick blue.
09 Jan 2026 08:07:02
It's not Jesus' quality that's in question it's Dyche's tactics and the midfielders inability to find that telling ball to him.
09 Jan 2026 08:42:31
The Wolves striker could be the next potential transfer. If he arrives, he would likely become a lone striker without a clear end result.
09 Jan 2026 09:33:59
But he'll still get little or no service, Ripley.

Good sum up edd
Got to admit the atmosphere at villa park was very poor, it's as if they aren't enjoying it?
{Ed001's Note - I don't know, they do seem to struggle with atmosphere. A guy I used to train with was a season ticket holder there and he said it is a regular problem. They seem to expect too much. And thank you. Struggling to keep up with the flood of games at the moment!}
08 Jan 2026 19:00:11
My mate lives in chelmsley Wood and a true blue
Their atmosphere is always better despite their lack of success
Maybe a class thing?
{Ed001's Note - no idea, Brum have more issues with hooliganism, so possibly.}
08 Jan 2026 19:33:19
Interesting read Ed as usual. I know quite a few Brummies and they don’t tend to get too excited about much, all things considered! Fair analysis of the game though.
{Ed001's Note - ah so maybe it is a Brummy thing?}
08 Jan 2026 20:08:51
Stokey really?
Go over there regular to stay weekend at my mates and vise versa
They ain't quiet that's for sure and love a good night out.
08 Jan 2026 21:08:35
Yes you'd not see much violence and the working man's club dtp ?.
08 Jan 2026 21:30:33
Proper working mebs clubs skeggs, cheap as chips and proper people with an act on aswell
Know you like those places and they are becoming far and few between.
{Ed001's Note - I love those places. I used to travel round them with my uncle when I was a kid. He is a stand up comedian and he would take me with him a lot, I used to love it being back stage.}
08 Jan 2026 21:58:59
YMCA more like?, can see him in the leather coppers outfit??.
08 Jan 2026 22:11:44
Bang on edd, something to please all ages
Good times still a few left
And along comes redrobin?
08 Jan 2026 22:28:40
And like I said you won't see no violence in the working mens club. ?.
08 Jan 2026 22:56:08
Thought you "young ones? "
Had a life red Robin?
08 Jan 2026 23:20:40
Sorry DTP i forgot i'm not allowed to comment unless you give permission. ??.
08 Jan 2026 23:49:51
There you go again my shirt tails are killing me
Let go chill, after all I haven't got a life but you have?
09 Jan 2026 02:33:17
Got my proper education in "Creepers", bingo, strippers, a singer, and a blue comic, and that was just Sunday dinner time.
09 Jan 2026 12:54:11
Mossy, when I played for Radford Park Rangers as a teenager in Sunday matches I must confess to a few pints and “entertainment “ at the Variety Club on Salisbury Street afterwards.
I remember one Sunday, they’d had a break in a few nights before but nothing ( apparently) was stolen.
It was only when they cleared the stage one Sunday they removed the piano covers and found it replaced by stacked up beer crates. They only gone and nicked the old Joanna…. ??.
09 Jan 2026 12:55:11
And Red Hot, don’t knock wearing leather coppers gear until you’ve tried it mate…. ????????.
09 Jan 2026 14:00:45
I've got fond memories of the Creepers, Pensioners and us young UN's mingling on the same tables talking together, always felt there would be no trouble, only if you talked during Bingo, then you was taking your life into your own hands.
09 Jan 2026 17:42:12
Dunkirk club for me mossyred.
10 Jan 2026 11:32:48
British Railway Staff Association ( BRSA) Club Bulwell for me later …. Bingo was life or death.

Can I remind everyone that we have had a long term problem with recruitment? ie it’s not just Edu but stretches back a few years. At the time of the playoffs with SC we had an excellent team with 6 loanees.
For reasons we are not privy to all of them were money on. We were then ridiculed at the huge of players signed. Awonyi was one of these. Now I do feel for him but we had a single good season out of him and that’s that. Where are the scouts in say Ireland looking for the next Roy Keane? Why didn’t we pick up the young lad from Rochdale signed by Wolves who at 18 yr is creating a lot of interest.
Why do we have an obsession with players from Brazil? It must be related to those non -UK born recruiting agents. Football is still every boys dream? There are 1000’s of teams out there. My point is a player like Anderson has lived football all his life. He understands English football.

Totally agree, send the academy lads and a handful of bench warmers. Bigger fish to fry this season in staying up and Europe. ?.
08 Jan 2026 15:21:35
Duh was meant to be below on Gazzas post. ?.
08 Jan 2026 13:44:43
That team is OK Munmad but I would tell Sels, Melenkovic, Murillo, Aina, Williams, Anderson, Dominguez, Gibbs-White, Hudson Odoi and Jesus to " put your feet up lads, you're going nowhere near Wales in Friday.
Stay at home.
Recharge as best you can and get ready for the important stuff.
As much as I love the FA cup, it's way down the list of priorities this season sadly.

08 Jan 2026 17:03:08
That's a great shout Gazzi.
The importance is staying up this season. ??.
08 Jan 2026 17:47:24
If that storm is anything like they'll all be staying home.
08 Jan 2026 18:41:22
Looks like game will be off tomorrow imo
Travel will be impossible, trains already cancelled before the storm arrives.
08 Jan 2026 12:22:13
Team to play Wrexham on Friday
Sels
Savona
Jair
Morato
Zinchenko
Williams
Dominguez

Bakwa
Awoniyi
Hutchinson.

08 Jan 2026 13:11:11
Zinchenko not good enough, nor is Awoniyi.
08 Jan 2026 13:34:18
Not bothered about the FA cup this year, play our reserves and academy players. Still got a couple of tricky games in Europe that need winning. ?.
08 Jan 2026 15:17:30
Not a bad shout Munmad but I’d be thinking of putting Luiz in for Dominquez and Abbott in for Williams plus Gunn for Sels to save our key players for Arsenal mate
I’ve got to be honest, this may be a “sacrificial “ starting 11 and take a tactical “ upset “. Wrexham are one point off the playoffs and flying up the League with their Hollywood A list owners ( also an extraordinary grant of £20 million from the local Government to fund ground development with a view to upgrading Wrexham for tourists watching Wales play.
We may have to take it on the chin on a cold snowy night in the Principality. Sometimes you have to lose a battle in order to win a war.
Hope I’m wrong but we have to be realistic in our situation.
Ironically, this would be an ideal comeback game for Yates but I think it’s probably too early.
Also what’s happened to Cubiano? Let SD take a look at him?
08 Jan 2026 15:27:03
McAtee gets a runout surely?
08 Jan 2026 16:25:10
McAtee must play tomorrow night. He was a Man City trainee and captain of the England under 21 which won the European trophy. Lee Carsley must have thought he had qualities to make him captain.
I admit watching these under 21 matches, Harvey Elliot impressed me more. Yet he has not done well at AV.
McAtee is young and if anybody can get the best out of him it’s SD.
08 Jan 2026 17:30:51
Yes Mcatee should get a half at least.
08 Jan 2026 17:39:01
Sell the edu reject. get some pennies back.
08 Jan 2026 18:26:39
Nurse he's awake again ????.
08 Jan 2026 09:26:02
Shows the difference City ( serial cheats ) sign Semenyo for 65m and we ferret around in the bargain basement for attacking players to solve our goal scoring woes we need to spend that money not 20/ 25m as we have been doing.
Agree1
Disagree0
08 Jan 2026 09:51:55
Man utd have paid over 200 million for three strikers though munmad and none have scored the goals
The fee paid is irrelevant as any player can flop at a new club
We only paid 12 million for murillo
3 million for CHO
nothing for Aina
35 for Anderson allegedly
15 for wood
15 for elanga and so on
City have paid big bucks for any attackers and ruined some of their careers, there's no guarantee mate no matter the fee paid.
08 Jan 2026 11:02:59
Igor Thiago even though injured last season looks an absolute steal at 30 mill. ?.
08 Jan 2026 11:35:56
Fair point DTP but we have 4 wingers Bakwa Hutchinson Ndoye and Hudson Odoi and no target man Jesus does his best to hold the ball up but there is never anyone around him in the box strikers do their work in the 18 yd box since we lost Wood ours don’t!
08 Jan 2026 12:33:36
That's when the coach has to adapt to the players he has munmad, not keep playing balls in the air to an isolated striker that's not tall enough
Keep it on the ground and play through MGW
The way we play just bypasses MGW and makes him ineffective.
08 Jan 2026 12:33:40
I think if we had lost to West Ham we would be more proactive in this transfer window, Mr Marinakis might hold fire know we look like staying up?, and regroup for next season, with hopefully targeted players we require in positions we need filling.
08 Jan 2026 13:05:39
I've read that Mr Marinakis is still in mourning for his mother, and is sorting family business, at the moment football to him is taking a back seat for now.
