So I've never hidden my admiration of players from other teams nor coaches/ managers whatever they are called these days. Sports personality giving lifetime award to Henry well deserved young man, and arsene wenger. For bringing so much to the beautiful game. Well deserved.
Agree1
18 Dec 2025 20:23:27
I agree to a point Bowie, but best player I've ever seen is George Best, simply because you got kicked to death when you had talent in those days with no protection from referees
He was pure genius not matter how much they tried to kick him.

I went for Lando. 🌳.

I couldn't agree more on George best dtp. As snooker etc mentioned. George was the hurricane Higgins of football. The people's favourite. But wild lifestyle. Again like Alex you just didn't know what was going to happen next. Both truly gifted and admired. 👍.

19 Dec 2025 18:33:14
Out of George and Alex who would have survived and prospered in their own sports today?. Both at the top of their tree back in the day, but both sports have evolved beyond expectations. Football is virtually a non contact game, and snooker is big sponsorship with a new Chinese influence. Just my own opinion.

Agree1
19 Dec 2025 21:48:32
The bonus already been done as we took spurs apart after Everton performance
Many on here had us relegated before spurs game?
We have the players and dyche got them fit now, so nothing to worry about, unless your a worrying sort?

Franculino Dju at Midtjylland is a good shout for the future at 22 and plays internationally for Guinea Bissau. 16 goals in 17 games and looks to be a real talent.

That’s probably a good shout Munmad depending on injuries mate. Unlike when we play in the Europa we have 8 days of recovery so hopefully we don’t look knackered and out of sorts as before at Everton for example.
I see Fulham play in the League Cup tonight at Newcastle so it will be interesting to see what sort of team they put out.

17 Dec 2025 18:20:00
Believe me reds, sels has done more than enough. For taylors sake. Have you lot forgotten the amount of poor keepers we were going through aftwr samba? He just stedied the ship, I swear talk about loyalty on here and wonder why players move on, and the wfcg got faces like arses everytime a player left. And its the coach/ owners fault.
i'm no statto but look up how many saves sels done on target f fs. Talk about playing the ball out, most of the outfield players couldn't. Just f kn hurts me when I see the hearts of the club, lowered and stepped on. Yet only last season shared the golden gloves. Typical of a lot on here. My opinion.
Agree6
17 Dec 2025 19:15:12
Good argument Bowie, and one I respect and understand. It is a difficult decision to make but I saw a calm defence on Sunday, something we haven't seen for a while. Don't get me wrong l think sels is a very good keeper and I've not forgotten about last season and he may well play against Fulham next week.
But victor was brought in to compete. Love your posts Bowie, always put with passion and loyalty. May it continue.
Agree3
17 Dec 2025 19:56:17
The calm was brought from murrilo vale my friend, just, love watching the laddie. Keeps it calm at the back, never panics. Looks up. Never wastes the ball when possible. Just unbelievable player. Strength and can shelter the ball like good old Hughes used to (loved his style of doing that. The master)
Agree4
17 Dec 2025 20:33:09
I agree on saves and always will Bowie, it's the flapping at crosses and it'd cost us quite a few this season.
Agree3
17 Dec 2025 20:34:37
Victor didn't put a foot wrong Sunday, but other than the turn and smash from young Gray, he had feck all to save to be honest.
Agree6
17 Dec 2025 20:45:48
Murillo is one of the best players we've had since the mid 90's, superb reader of the game and its clearly natural talent as he was fairly inexperienced when he first came through the door. He has it all, power, pace and that him being left footed is a rarity for a centre back.
As for Sels i can't disagree with anything you said Bowie mate, for me player of the season last time out, arguably the best shot stopper in the prem full stop. Having said all that do you guys remember when he first came through the door and looked shaky at times.
With his groin injury i would personally rest him as much as possible until new year when the European competition kicks off again. John has come in and I've been really impressed, last week his distribution was first class and he looks confident with balls coming into the box. I said below to be a Brazilian international he must have something about him. Give him a run over xmas and give Sels a break unless he has a shocker of course. 🌳.

Sels or Victor in goal at Fulham comrades? Assuming they are both fit. A tough call though a nice decision to have to make. Not much in it quality wise.
Sels, I think, has a slight edge in reflexes and agility, JV is a tiny bit more ponderous imo.
However, JV had a faultless game on Sunday though he only had one save to make such was the quality of our defenders, blocking shots at source and working hard to track runners.
He commands his area a bit better than MS. Both calm in temperament. Both look much better in distribution with SD pragmatic licence to go long if under pressue rather than pass it out unless it’s straightforward. It’s the old Cloughian adage of not asking players to do what they don’t have the skillset to do.
I personally think Sels will get the nod
Thoughts?
Agree1
17 Dec 2025 13:00:42
If sels is carrying a groin injury then it's not worth risking him and chancing making it worse
Gunn back fit now to be on the bench.
Agree1
17 Dec 2025 13:16:19
Stokey, it's funny having this discussion about Victor replacing Sels in goal, I think most supporters wrote Victor off after the Swansea game!, but he's been given a chance and it's up to him to make it hard for Dyche to drop him for Sels. Anderson got his chance with the unfortunate injury to Danilo, and the rest is history.
Agree2
17 Dec 2025 13:35:32
Id give it to victor, why change the team if he doesn't have to. Man mark Wilson and we could be in with three points.
Agree2
17 Dec 2025 13:37:22
For me give Sels another week to recover.
Agree2
17 Dec 2025 15:53:37
I'd play the same 11 if they are all fit. They were all brilliant against Spurs. No need to make unnecessary changes. Victor did nothing wrong.

17 Dec 2025 15:26:59
Good and informative post Ed! I see what you mean about Franks 💩Housery. They largely got away with it due to some incompetent reffing but couldn’t affect Forest’s dominance. The best thing I could say about the ref is that at least he was consistent…….
Agree0
{Ed001's Note - the refs are very consistently inept it must be said. How bad must the rest be if these are the best we have?}
18 Dec 2025 19:33:15
The standard of refereeing has declined since var was introduced, we now have armchair referees looking to try and find an infringement on every goal scored, I blame rugby for it all, that's a stop start game, football never was, scrap it.

Just rewatched the entire Spurs match on Forest TV. As near perfect a team performance as you could wish for, on a par with the one at Anfield. Special mention to Jesus and Anderson who got clattered many many times and kept picking themselves up and going again.
Jesus v Romero, a Brazilian up against an Argentine World Cup winner was a proper battle. It was very satisfying to see a petulant and frustrated Spurs Captain rugby tackle Nico near the end after a 40 pass Forest move with the Oles ringing in his ears.
Just glad Nico picked himself up again.
Speaking of which I never, ever want Sam Parrott to ref us again. He took no action on Spurs many instances of foul play and thuggery, including the one I’ve mentioned above. I rarely criticise refs but he was exceptionally incompetent. We did well to keep our discipline.
Agree6
16 Dec 2025 16:40:35
We did very well to keep our cool Stokey. Thomas Frank shithousery as Ed 1 put it.
It proves how well we played that even with those tactics tics and an appalling Ref, we still thrashed em.
Agree2
16 Dec 2025 16:44:34
Ef that stokey, we're you not entertained. Bring on the pittance of real football and its hardships looking for working class heroes. Hence my love of championship football. Lot more guts and work.
Best game in years actually for me.
Just keep on going reds, not there to give a ref a semi, just to. fight and play true football. Which is what they give as you said. FTID.

16 Dec 2025 17:58:03
Yes find it weird that when we hammered the pool the rumours were that Klop was replacing Slot so we hammer Spurs and guess what rumours we have Klop replacing Frank, lazy Journalists disrespectful to our great team who dismantled both these sides 🤔🤡🤡.

16 Dec 2025 21:32:36
Klopp doesn't want a job right now, so pointless speculation like you say jester
I've said in a previous post that you won't get any recognition for beating one of the big boys, it's all about what they are doing wrong.
Agree5
17 Dec 2025 10:57:32
That is a valid point DTP. 'Woeful Spurs', etc!
At the back of my cynical mind I still feel that there is an element of how we raise our game against most of the top six. Can we keep up the standard at Fulham? (Nearly said replicate but Blade Runner comes to mind when I write that? )
Agree1
17 Dec 2025 12:58:55
Blade runner! What a film Norfolk. Geordie director as well Bowie. Rutgers Hauer was genuinely one of the scariest film creations as the replicant Batty. Classic dystopian work of genius. In my top ten always mate.
I feel we will do well at Fulham ( unless we get cheated out if it or a similar ref to Sundays abomination) because, uniquely this season, SD will have 8 golden days to coach his system ruthlessly with his full squad including no international abstractions.
8 days to get the injured rested and fit and the fit even fitter! Watch them go ….

Just a question
Do you think Victor being in goal had an impact on how we played against spurs?
Agree5
16 Dec 2025 01:41:29
Quite possibly, his distribution overall was I thought better than sels, and the few shots he had to save he caught the ball instead of just parrieing it where it could go anywhere. I believe a safe pair of hands gives confidence to the defence. Murillo seemed to be a lot further forward on Sunday. Just one example.
Agree5
16 Dec 2025 09:18:44
I thought so Dtp. I like sels but there seemed a calmness with Victor and like has been said good distribution.
Agree4
16 Dec 2025 11:52:10
There has to be a good reason Ancelotti likes him and has previously included him in the Brazilian squad. 🌳.

He's been doing alright in the European games, only recent lose to Mityjlland was when Sels, was in goal, think Dyche will stick with Sels when fit though.

Sels has two weaknesses
Flapping at anything that comes into the box and his distribution, something I've always criticised him for, great shot stopper.
